Sharp, ergonomic handle Very Nice Peeler

Another high quality OXO product. This peeler zipped thru apple skins with practically no resistance. My old peeler was a Farberware brand in which the wide part of the handle was perpendicular to the plane of the blade which caused it spin in my hand while cutting.....This OXO handle was parallel to the blade which gave a much more secure grip especially while peeling spherical fruit and vegetables with that motion the peels toward you while your thumb pushes the fruit toward the blade. For years I'd been using the common type of peeler with the open 'ribbon' style metal handle and it sort of hurts the hand after a few peelings, this handle is larger and softer and grips nicely. Very Happy with this peeler.

The play action on this peeler is super loose, and I love that. The swivel is incredibly fast and the quality of this peeler stands out even with Zyliss next to it. Is Zyliss better? Probably. And I'll tell you why... The shape of a Zyliss is good, yes. The price versus this and the swivel of the blade is stiffer, and the handle is medium compared to this which is large... The blade is much sharper on the OXO. Like it's going to cut you if you misuse it. I like my Zyliss but when it's in the dishwasher I needed another one and this was cheaper... huge handle, and OXO makes quality kitchen ware anyways. OXO is right there with Zyliss on quality in my opinion. And the difference in cost, only time will tell which one wins but if you like a stiff peeler Zyliss. If you like alot of action in the swivel, you have hands that can hold a larger tool, or you need a thinner slice maybe for fruits? OXO.

The grip is comfortable, but the thick handle means it wouldn't fit in any utensils drawer, and would not easily fit in the dishwasher basket.
