I currently have 2 Taylor Guitars (and a GS Mini), a 614ce and 814ceDLX. The 814 (x brace, not V is an outstanding guitar, perhaps known as the flagship of the Taylor lineup. With rosewood back and sides the 814 has a very warm sound, and that's great. But I wanted a more articulate sound, particularly in the bass. While I liked the sound with the Elixir 12-53's I just wanted more crisp bass. And for those who simply want more bass, the trick is to just replace the ebony bridge pin with a Buffalo horn pin. The difference with that one pin is significant. I digress...
The 12-56 gauge makes my 814 more "articulate" which is what I wanted and got from these strings though I still use the 12-53's on my 614 as its maple back and sides already provides a tighter sound, but a different blend of sound and overtones/harmonics.
Now, for you lovers of 814's and 614's I'm going to share a little secret..
If you want more projection, volume and sustain I urge you to try the Martin Liquid Metal bridge pins with these two models. They are not guaranteed to work with all guitars and specifically guitar/string combinations. With the 12-56's, the LMBP's (and perhaps also try) bone saddles I took two amazing guitars and made them spectacular. The crispness, articulation, projection, volume of my 814 rivals my buddy's $6000 Taylor 910ce (V). While still a maple guitar the 614 with the same changes, sans hybrid gauge strings sound magnificent in it's own right. Just sayin'.

Perfect for a Taylor BT1
I think this particular string will give you the best tome out of short scale guitars.I tried the lighter gauge of these strings and while they were a dream to play, the tone was a bit thin and lacking lower end. Nothing wrong with that, just not my style.I feel this gauge allows this small guitar to punch well above its weight class. I will be ordering more when the time comes.❤️
