About this item
- PETITE DEHUMIDIFIER REMOVES MOISTURE: When ambient temperatures are above 50°F(10°C) and the relative humidity is above 55% you will begin to see the collection of moisture in the reservoir. With higher temperatures and relative humidity levels, the unit can absorb up to 8 oz. per day! Unit is not recommended for temperatures below 50°F(10°C) or relative humidity levels below 50%.
- WHISPER-QUIET: The average noise output of thermo-electric dehumidifiers is 53.2 dB. The EDV-1100 has been measured at 33 dB, 23 dB below average. It generates less noise to help you sleep better at night.
- AUTO SHUT-OFF PROTECTION: When the water tank is full, the dehumidifier will auto shut off, and the full light will light up yellow to inform you. It is very safe and convenient to use when you are not at home.
- PORTABLE DEHUMIDIFIER FOR HOME: With a compact size of 6.5X5X11 inches, it can be easily placed most anywhere, helping you get the excess moisture out of the air in your bedroom, bathroom, RV, closet, and more.
- AUTO RESTART AFTER A POWER INTERRUPTION: Once the power is restored after a power failure, the appliance will continue to operate normally.
- PLUG AND PLAY SETUP: This couldn’t be easier to use. Simply plug it in and turn it on. It will immediately start dehumidifying.
- 16 OZ. RESERVOIR TANK - The moisture collected by the EDV-1100 is directed to its removable reservoir tank. When the tank is full, the unit's indicator light will turn yellow. At this point, you can remove the tank to empty the water and then replace it to resume dehumidifying. Please note that this unit does not include a drain hose feature.

Water float for auto shut off if you forget to empty it.
Might as well use it in the bathroom until needed in the RV. Seems great for a small room/light duty dehumidifier.
Helps with high humidity levels in the south and that helps with efficiency of the air conditioner.
The best price I could find was here on Amazon!
The pros:
+ It may seem expensive, but considering the damage too much moisture can cause, it's resonable & free shipping is included.
+ Low power use.
+ Very quiet operation.
+ No maintenance, other than emptying the water. It even shuts off & signals (LED lights) when that's needed!
The cons:
- It may have been my fault? The water catch tank has to be lined up correctly, before it's pushed back into the dehumidifier. If it's not lined up, the guide rail on the tank will break off. The tank will still be 100% functional, but it can be a bit more difficult to line-up after the guide rail is broken off. I only did this on the first one, being more careful after the mishap. :)
- We had a fan failure in one of our 6 dehumidifiers. See the March 31, 2014 update below. :(
► Purchase history:
I bought the first one of these in 2010, three in 2011 & I just bought another one to remove excess moisture from a problem area. I've had "zero" problems with any of the previous units & I expect this one to be 100% trouble free. :)
► Notes:
▪ The operation of this dehumidifier can be improved by simply removing the restrictive plastic screen on the fan exhaust. Just pull off the large exhaust grille located on top, then pop off the attached grille with the small holes. Reattach the large grille & that's it!
▪ Some reviewers have been concerned with the wall wart... power transformer getting very warm to hot. They do get very warm... not sure I'd say hot. None of our 6 units have had any problems with the power transformer overheating.
► Update - November 30, 2013
I received my 6th one of these today! The previous 5 are all working perfectly, in our vehicles & storage out building. Other than emptying the tank when it's full, no other maintenance has been required.
► Update - March 31, 2014 - repair required! :(
▪ We have 6 of these now & one has finally required a repair. #5 (I numbered them + when they were purchased), which was purchased here on Amazon in November of 2012, starting making a strange noise? It was the fan!
▪ This dehumidifier uses a standard 80x80x25mm, 12V .021A computer fan. It doesn't say on the label, so I'm going to assume its a lower cost (quality) sleeve bearing fan. A ball bearing fan would have lasted longer, but would cost the manufacturer more.
▪ The disassemble was VERY easy... a pleasant surprise, requiring only a thin shaft #1 Phillips screw driver. If you have the skills, this repair cost is under $5, less if you happen to have a "hoarded"... saved computer fan & takes perhaps 15 minutes. :)
Because of the fan failure in less then 2 years + the lower quality fan that was installed by the manufacturer, I've dropped my product rating to 3 out of 5 stars. :(
► Update - November 9, 2014
▪ Today after I emptied the water tank on dehumidifier #6, the fan made a loud noise when I turned it on. The noise was familiar, so I knew the fan was bad.
▪ I'd replaced a fan previously on dehumidifier #5, so the repair was VERY easy! In addition, I had a spare fan that I'd purchased... just in case. I just ordered 3 more fans off eBay, $4 each, so I'm ready for the next failure! :)
▪ This dehumidifier was purchased exactly one year ago! I installed a higher quality ball bearing fan, so here's hoping it lasts longer than one year!
After reading some negative reviews, I was concerned about ordering this unit. I’ve been pretty happy with this device, and would buy again if need arises to help moderate humidity in another area.
A bit more:
Before purchasing this item, realize it’s a thermo-electric (or Peltier) dehumidifier. And when they say petite dehumidifier, this thing is petite (roughly 6x9x6 inches). Don’t expect it to dry your space much below 50% humidity (ambient temperature is a factor too). Don’t expect it to get a room to that equilibrium in a couple of hours (depending on humidity and size of space). The unit is only rated for 1100 cubic feet, so that’s basically a 10’x11’x10' area.
If you need to dry out an area fast, or need to pull moisture out of a larger area, look to a more industrial unit.
If you need to pull a considerable amount of moisture out of the air, look at a more conventional, and larger, dehumidifier. Quoted by the manufacture "It’s effectiveness is measured in gathering approximately 8 oz. of water per day at 86° F and 80% R.H"
If you just want to moderate some moisture out of the air of a small space (bathroom, RV, small room in an apartment, small storage area, etc.), then this may be a good fit. To risk repeating myself, I’ve been very happy with the price / performance of this unit. It’s been running for just over 4 days, and filled up the reservoir once already (note that's only 16oz). Given the RH has been around 65% and nowhere near 86 degrees, it tracks fairly well with manufacturers claims/statement. I wouldn’t call it whisper quiet, but their rating of ~51db is pretty accurate. It has the light hum of a good working order fan on a low speed. The “light damp smell” in the area is gone, and the space feels comfortable to me. It's a cheap and energy efficient short term solution, until I plan a better long term option for the space.
Top reviews from other countries
Es relativamente silencioso, si hace un poco de ruido pero es tolerable incluso duermo con el. Lo he tenido encendido hasta 12 horas sin problema.
Si lo recomiendo para espacios medianos como una recamara.
