Received in good condition---NO visible signs of damage or descrepancies.
First time I tried it, as soon as I unpacked it, and put it to use.
PERFORMED GREAT!
What a great tool. Performed as expected.
The long-reach design is very usefull reaching deeped and further out.
Cut and trimmed small twigs to larger branches up to 1/4", on woody plants---as well as vines, pruning bushes and the like. Able to reach into bushes to clean out the dead branches---worked PERFECT. The gripping feature is the BEST--- simply reach-in---cut-n-grip---pull-it-out---can't ask for anything better.
This is a "BYPASS style" pruner vs an "anvil type" which is more powerful (akin to a lopper for cutting larger branches).
Thanks to CORONA for developing such a useful tool.
NOTE
Tried it on branches 3/8 to 1/2"---this IS NOT the tool for such branch size. This is a light-duty tool (as advertized). Need to use a suitable size lopper with long handles to obtain greater leverage. One cannot apply adequate hand-clamping force to perform the task of cutting larger branches, with this tool. It's not intended for this purpose.
Think of this tool as and "hand pruner" with a long handle.
The branch size of a 1/2", as depicked in the literature, is there for reference to show how much the cutter opens up---it needs to open up this far to get the leverage needed to cut smaller branches more easily.
NOTE hand pruners have a large opening; however, a large branch of a 1/2" cannot be cut with only your hand.
NOTE
The cutter blade and anvil should be inserted to full-depth, on any the branch, to be effective.
Cutting with just the tip-end is only for trimming for small twigs, like on rose bushes, soft plants, and the like.
BTW---I do lots of tree and bushes trimming and pruning and have a large variety of tools for this purpose---from power driven to hand tools. Long pole telescoping and extendable loppers, long pole-saws to 21ft. Pruning hand saws. Loppers 15" to 36". Several types of hand pruners. As well as chain saws, branch and limb power trimmers---gas and cordless.
Corona's "Cut 'n' Hold" however makes quick and neat work of it. I can easily top off that invader's many long tendrils. The hold feature -- a function of the fat plastic blade housing, cleverly engineered to hold the cut pieces, and drop them off four-five feet away from the fence and fence-side plantings. This tool feels like nothing -- featherweight, no sense of any top heaviness like the pole cutter. The cutting handle mechanism is easy too, lighter than the squeeze on a screen door latch.
The next thirty years will be the better for this tool.
I've used it on raspberry bramble, wild grape. and some other weed stems. No problem. It really can't handle much over a 1/8" stick of older wood-like vine. On young soft vine, yeah it could cut up to a 1/4". But the incredible ease and function of this tool in use make up for that shortcoming. No reason for vine to get that think and gnarly with this magic tool around. Clean up is easy because you can easily pile up the cuttings with the hold feature.
Would give it 6 stars if that was possible.
