Male with about 6 inches of hair grown out.I used small perm rods and went with the 18-20 minute processing time then rinsed, dried, neutralized. Holy smokes did my hair come out curly.Note that I used to bleach and tone my hair but have not for the past few months while growing it out. Nothing melted or fell off during the perm process! After 48+ hours I went ahead and applied my usual teal color conditioner and went about the recommended washing/conditioning process for permed/curly hair.Really love the outcome and will do it again in 3-5 months with larger perm rods for looser waves.

I read where someone said they had grey hair and it was horrible outcome. I have all grey hair and it turned out pretty good. I am 70 and very fine hair. My perms never turned out so I started doing my perms and my mother's 35 years ago. I found a great perm after trying many and them not working. I got the perms at Sally's but I couldn't find the perm on their site. So I hunted around and ordered this perm for fine hair even though it was very expensive . Normally the perm I get is 7 dollars. Anyway because of virus I wasn't going out to get a perm. So I gave myself a perm and it was very difficult to curl and put the perm on hair. However I did it and it turned out pretty good.I did not go by the directions at all. I did 19 minutes when the directions say 12 for fine hair. I have fine hair but it is also hard to wave which they say keep it on for 18 minutes. My hair is soft and was worried because I seen people say it left their hair real dry. I used https://www.amazon.com/Perms-Only-Professional-Pre-Wrap-Lotion/dp/B005NISFUG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 it is a pre wrap for perms. I see Amazon is out of it but might could google it. If you don't have the prewrap I still believe the perm is a good one for fine grey hair or just fine hair but check the curl and you may want to leave it one longer than they say.
I first used Ogilve perms 40 years ago and I am still happy with them. I have thin fine stringy hair, Without a perm it hardly covers my head. Ogilve makes a huge difference. I have to test and watch the clock carefully to be sure the solution does not burn my already fragile hair. But if you do that you will be happier with this perm than one you will get in a shop.
I used Ogilvie perms in the beauty shop years ago and they were wonderful. I just gave my hair a perm for tinted hair and processed only 3 minutes. Curl was beautiful but the perm dried my hair so badly I had to cut 5 inches off the ends and my hair started falling out. It did no stop falling out for 3 months and my hair thinned very badly due to this perm. I suggest rinsing thoroughly even after neutralizer to be sure it stops the perm action. Then condition often.
I love this brand of home perms. I have used this brand for many years, and it always comes out great! Very easy to follow their instructions, and have never had a problem. Love it!!
