4.5 stars. Shipping and receiving was fine. This replaced a metal one with a diverter. This one is coated plastic - which can be a good thing around water, but I deducted a star for not being metal. The best difference is the set screw. The old one, the screw is tightened against the plumbing pipe, which can cause a slight pipe surface defect over time since many people over tighten it... possibly causing a tiny spot for a slow leak. This Moen, the set screw goes into a yolk/collar thing that hugs in place to make the seal. At least I think that's how it works. Anyway, when I pull the diverter to use the shower...NO water comes from the bathtub spout. Not even a small amount! If I eventually see a change, I'll try to update. All great May 2018.

I bought a tub diverter spout locally from a big box store. All the big box stores in town sold the same type of spout, & that is a universal spout that fits any kind of pipe coming out of the wall(copper pipe, threaded steel pipe, etc.). It was a real pain to assemble & leaked after spending 45 minutes trying to understand the very lengthy assembly instructions & installing it. The original spout & the universal spout have a set screw that crushes & damages the copper pipe. After I read all the great reviews about the Moen tube diverter spout, I deceided to give it a try. My copper pipe was eaten up & corroded where the rubber o'ring on the original spout & universal spout was trying to seal. Moen put the o'ring in a non standard position, which allows the o'ring to seal on a virgin area of the copper pipe. The Moen spout sealed great, took about 3 minutes to install & unlike other brands of spouts that have a set screw that deforms the copper pipe when tightened and even worse possibly piercing the pipe when tighted, Moen has a screw that you turn to hold the spout in place, but the screw does not contact the copper pipe, the job of the screw is to push a "U" shaped wedge against the pipe, allowing pressure to be spread over a very large area of the copper pipe resulting in no distorting or damage.
The advantages of the Moen spout saved me from having to get a plumber out to replace the copper pipe, & a painter out to repair the sheetrock the plumber would have had to damage to make an access hole to get to the piping. The spout is not metal, it is plastic, but that does not bother me. The chrome finish on the spout is very high quality. I am very, very happy with this product!

Today I am a happy customer. After reading the reviews I thought installing this thing would be easy. On the outside it looks exactly like my old one. On the inside not so. The old one was a screw on and the new one a slip on. As no set screw was showing in the bottom slot I assumed the original installer may have glued it on. I put a wrench on the old one with a rag around it and fortunately turned it in the right direction. Actually, I turned it in the left direction. From my Navy days: righty tighty, lefty loosey.
It came off easy but had a soldered fitting on the end of the half inch pipe. I carefully and slowly cut the end off with a hacksaw at a little less than two and a half inches and lightly filed the end of the pipe and polished the remaining part with steel wool. From there it was a breeze.
Although there are not much in the way of directions included, one very helpful bit of advice is included. When you have the diverter over the pipe and are ready to tighten, turn it upside down and turn the set screw until it is just able to move then it turn right side up. Leave the Allen key inserted as it is difficult to find the set screw when on the bottom.
The reason I bought this was hopefully to delete the whistle when using the shower. It worked, no more whistle.

This was very easy to install. You must make sure that you buy the correct model for the type of connection that you have in your tub. I think there are 2 types. One has a set screw on the underside of the spout that holds it on to the pipe coming out of the wall, the other is threaded and screws directly to the pipe coming out of the wall.

The thing with this is that the pipe coming out of the wall MUST be 3" or less. I had to cut a couple of inches off. The problem is that you will not know how long your pipe is until you take off the old spout. When I removed mine, the inside structure fell apart. They were probably broken before I took the old spout off, but when I pulled, the guts came out in pieces. So once I started, there was no going back. Had to make the new one work. It did not just "slip on". It had to be worked a bit. And there was nothing to brace the copper pipe, so it would not go flush to the wall. I had to pull it out a bit, hold with channel locks, and push that final 1/2 inch or so. But, when done, seems to be working as it should. I took the advice of another review and greased the length of the copper with plumber's grease. But overall, it worked. I'm not the most handy person so I had to sweat this a bit, but all's well that ends well. Moral of the story, if you can convert to a threaded spout, I would recommend that. The product descriptions are not entirely helpful on that. Suppose a run to the local hardware may have helped with that, but with COVID and all, I preferred to do this remotely. PS, I had half-inch copper coming out of the wall. Seems to be the standard, but I have seen differently. Oh, and it is plastic. The cheaper model is metal, but doesn't seem to have the inside piece. But it looks ok, so guess it's not a big deal. But it does feel cheap in your hand taking it out of the box.

Hands down 5 Stars product, and it's at a very reasonable price $35 CDN + tax. Keep in mind MOEN provides life time warranty, yes it works, I replaced a few of their faucet cartridges, free shipping, free replacement no questions asked, but you need to provide a proof of photo of the MOEN product for the warranty claim. Some really bad sellers are selling MOEN replacement parts at ridiculous prices, don't fall for their traps, you can get free replacement on MOEN products (at least I know for Faucet stuff).

Installation - very easy - there are some parts in the spout you need to align to fit onto the pipe, that's basically all you need to watch out for, then tighten the set screw (don't over tighten), once you feel there is enough tension, don't continue to tighten, otherwise you might damage the pipe if the set screw/parts are pressed against the pipe too tightly (Big Trouble to fix / re-solder the pipe).

No Leaks - the first one I bought about 2 years ago still working solidly, no leaks when you lift the tab up for shower head. And of course no weird or bad splashes down the spout. I just bought a second one today and installed it less than 5 minutes.

The build and material are better than your no name cheap $20 tub spouts. Just the diverter tab itself feels more premium than others. And it does look different (better) than other standard tub spouts.

Note: you need to check the length of your pipe, this spout may not fit some pipes that are longer than what's specified in the product - 5-1/2-inch length. Provides 4-3/4 in. of clearance.

Bought a couple to replace the ones installed by the builder, and the quality is noticeably better than my old ones.

They were easy to replace, maybe 10 minutes each, not counting the caulking. If you're not sure how to do it, there are videos on Youtube that show you how to do it. Just make sure these are right for your plumbing, as there are two types of diverters.

I think they're worth the price premium over the no-name ones.

The only nitpick that I have is that they don't include an allen key to loosen the lock screw, but other than that, these are totally worth their price.
