I think the all-thread type rod to hinge both sides of the table top is poorly done. I get it. To make simple adjustments using the tabbed indents, you can only have one knob. But if the table will not level from left to right, front to back, then you need to add a knob to make adjustments to the left side/right side. Which I did. Got rid of that long rod with threads. Also added leveling feet. No drilling. Just push in. Felt bottoms. Leveled the top, but still see daylight in some areas, like the middle of the backing plate. This machine is really meant for DIY'ers and made to stow accessories and look simple. I want to be precise and if I sand the long grain and stand that on end on my cast iron table saw, I want that to be at a perfect 90 degrees. Not always. So I am going to make a cabinet and a phenomic plywood top that will adjust in all for corners and skip the table top it came with. I will then be able to adjust to make the spindles or belt square to the top. Then I plan on adding a fence, to the new table top - to allow the spindle to just be proud so I can sand long edges just like a planar. (search YT: spindle sander into planar).I bought this so I could edge sand long face frames - but also sand curves and freehand. The machine is okay but has been stripped down to being a general machine for DIY. Which is fine, but again, it could have been so much better with more thought.Photos will show: Taking out the long bolt hinge and creating two knobs, one for left table, one for right table adjustments. Will show level feet added. Will show level top. Will show some daylight in mid backing for belt sanding. Will show long grain sanding and testing. If you long grain sand, and set that on a cast iron table top (for my table saw) I expect that to be at a 90 degrees with no daylight showing. Also shows what happens if you let the belt drift too far down into the unit. It will cut the foot that goes into the plastic wear plate and cause damage. That was before I even sanded anything. Turned on unit with belt sander and that belt cruised down into the unit and did the damage before I could adjust and get it back up. So be careful. Hope this helps.
