Product Description
Zojirushi Ms. Bento Stainless Vacuum Insulated Lunch Jar
Lunch on the Go
Whether in the office or on the go, you can take a healthier, tastier, more interesting lunch with you thanks to Zojirushi's Ms. Bento Stainless Lunch Jar. One of the most versatile lunch boxes you'll ever come across, the Ms. Bento lunch jar comes with three different containers that allow you to pack a multi-course lunch of both hot and cold items easily and securely.
The jar itself is made of stainless steel and is vacuum-insulated that houses three plastic containers with lids. The large soup bowl comes with gasket-sealed lid to prevent messy spills and is specially insulated to keep soup hot. All pieces should be washed by hand with non-abrasive cleaning pads. Inner bowls are microwave-safe.
The lunch jar lid also locks to hold all the inner containers. The Ms. Bento also comes with a convenient carry bag with a strap for easy transport. A forked spoon is included with its own protective cover.
Capacity: Main Bowl 10oz, Side Bowl 11 oz, Soup Bowl 7 oz.
Dimensions: Container measures 10 by 6 by 6 inches.
Ms. Bento Features
- Vacuum insulation keeps foods hot or cold for hours
- Durable stainless steel construction with excellent heat retention
- 3 microwaveable inner bowls
- Washable nonstick coated outer container
- Includes forked spoon with cover and easy to carry tote bag
- BPA Free
Great for Hot or Cold Lunches
The Ms. Bento is an excellent way to safely and conveniently pack lunch where microwave or refrigerator may not be available. The Ms. Bento allows you to compartmentalize your food and bring an entire meal, like a pasta dish, soup, salad and cookies in each separate bowl. You will appreciate the “greenness” of packing a lunch in our lunch jars, instead of using a paper bag or disposable containers.
How does it keep food hot or cold?
With Zojirushi's renowned vacuum insulation technology, air between the two thin layers of stainless steel on the outer container is removed, creating a vacuum. Because there is no air, the temperature on the outside does not transfer into the container; keeping foods hot or cold for hours.
What's in the Box
Side Bowl
The Ms. Bento comes with an 11-ounce side bowl that sits inside the lid. It is ideal for foods that should be kept room temperature, such as chips, nuts or snacks. The side bowl is not insulated.
Main Bowl
The 10-ounce main bowl is designed to hold the main course. The outer container's vacuum insulation and the insulated lid of the main bowl help keep foods hot or cold for hours without reheating or refrigeration.
Soup Bowl
The 7-ounce soup bowl has a unique lid that minimizes leaks and is ideal for holding soups, dips, or fruit cocktail. It sits at the bottom of the outer container, where vacuum insulation keeps the foods hot or cold for hours.
Forked Spoon
Never worry about forgetting your utensils. The Ms. Bento also includes a forked spoon with its own protective cover.

Hot OR cold issue: You can only use as all hot or all cold for the bottom and middle insulated cups. If you read that you can combine hot and cold - what this really means is a top cup that does not need insulation. You definitely cannot put say, cold yogurt on the bottom and hot fried rice in the center. It is also misleading to say hot and cold because the top cup will take on some of the characteristics of whether it's hot or cold that day. So make sure your top cup is compatible with being on the warmer or cooler side. For warmer days, I can put most any fruit and it's ok, and something like chocolate chip cookies, which my girls report is awesome since they are soft and warm like out of the oven. On cold days, then put in crispy and crunchier items, like crispy wafer cookies and fruit they really like to have cold.
STAYS hot or cold issue: Does it really work? YES. I can't explain why some people say it won't retain heat. I can tell you what I do: Boil water. Don't use tap water or water you think it hot enough. BOIL it. Do this FIRST. Let it sit in the canister while you do everything else. I let mine sit for at least 15 minutes. Perhaps others' water is not hot enough, or not warmed up long enough so it won't retain heat. Ditto for cold. My girls report very nice and warm by lunch, not scalding, but better than "just warm". I finished my daughter's meal and cauliflower (see more below) and it was still warm after school. Prep: 6:45, canisters done by 7:15. Lunches at 12 noon and 1PM. Finished daughter's lunch leftovers at 5PM.
Can this make me eat better? YES. My girls aren't veggie lovers. The first day, I put all stir fried cauliflower in the bottom cup, and they said it was like eating the never ending bowl of cauliflower. The next day, I carefully served 3 types unmixed - corn, peas, and green beans. It wasn't much of each, but with the beautiful presentation, they actually ate all or nearly all of the vegetables - hahaha!!! It is true you find yourself thinking more about the proper allocation between protein, carbs, moderate treat, and fruits/veggies, and shopping this way as well. I just order more bento type stuff like the little containers for soy sauce, dressings, syrup, and cream cheese, plus a few playful picks for decoration. The bag is quite sturdy - it is not flimsy material - a thick material with sturdy straps. The spork is nice, as is the cover. If you're worried about scratching the cups or are a heavy handed jabbing type of eater, just use your own plasticware. I hand wash and hand dry everything, and it hasn't been too arduous. Use plastic wrap to line the cups for stainy items - like spaghetti/chili.
Back to Mr. Ms. or Classic? It's really hard to say for others, but Ms. has been just right for the girls both size wise and because they barely have enough time to finish the volume of lunch they already have. It's lunch, not dinner, and as a last resort, you can still fit in a bit more food inside the carry bag.
This is overall a well-made product that I would recommend. I've carried this around for almost a year and have only just now begun to have issues with parts, so this is a tough bit of kit and it's worth the extra cash. Definitely a step up from neoprene and plastic ware sadness; bonus points for keeping your nice meal away from work's icky community fridge!
Top reviews from other countries
Three circular compartments stack on top of each other in a cylindrical outer storage case - nice carry bag/spork - bag would fit a 330ml water bottle or equiv alongside the flask.
Some daft reviews on here - it's not magic - you need to sit boiling water in the cylinder, and containers for a few mins - before loading them with nicely hot food and it then stays warm for hours!
I put a couple of discs of cheesey garlic bread (cut into rounds to fit!) in the base, a spag bol or macaroni cheese in the middle container (it fits a whole single ready meal in it) and some fruit in the top one and then pack them up in the container at 6am - still piping hot at 1/2pm and any leftovers still warm to the touch when I get home and go to wash it up at 6pm!
The lids stay on tight and prevent leaks, the fruit on top doesn't get warm - and you feel vaguely fancy and oriental with your chic 'bento' flask!
Re the comment about the clips on the outer cylinder breaking, I can see that if you handled it a bit roughly this could happen....... so, er, don't do that.
