I have bottled many many beers with this model and it is still going strong. I had concerns about the plastic arms, but everything is still sturdy and seems to be ready for the years to come. The magnet in the top makes it easy to toss onto a bottle without fearing you will knock off the cap. I do think it's possible to pull too hard and snap the neck of the bottle based on the design, but this is just a theory based on how the unit works (squeezing the sides of the cap tight, not pushing down like a tabletop style would).

I shopped around and this one was highly recommended and good price. After maybe 75 batches of brew over the years, I would give it a perfect score. One of the few things I bought in the beginning stage of the hobby that I actually still use and have no intention to upgrade.

 This is the second capper of this kind that I have owned and they are a great value for the price.
The rolling mechanisms will loosen up over time with the repeated capping, but it doesn't seem to affect the integrity of the cap being put on the bottle.
Very pleased and although I use my newer one now I keep the older one around for backup.

Years ago I used a bench capper. Well years have passed and I decided to bottle kombucha. This wing capper took some getting used to for me. At first I thought I was not strong enough to use it, but that was not the case. I expected the handles to go down and almost touch the bottle when I was capping. This is not the case. The bottle is sealed when the handles are parallel with the ground. This capper works fine for bottling kombucha, but I wished I had spent the extra money and bought a bench capper. With this type of capper you must be careful when capping or you can tip the bottle over. You have to be careful of the length of the bottle neck or you can break the bottle or not get a seal. I have read that these cappers do not last long. All of that being said, I like that it does not take up much space and so far I have not had any issues. If it breaks, I will upgrade to a bench capper.

I had one of these many years ago in my first attempt at making beer. (horrible disgusting failure was that first beer) I lost it. So I bought another. I bought a different type as well to compare them. This capper is the winner in most categories.

The only category this capper fails in is with bottles that have a very high lip on the neck. If you looks at your bottle neck, there is a lip towards the top where the bottle gets thicker right before the very top lip. There are normally 2 sizes. One is noticeably longer than the other. With the longer one this capper works great. With the shorter, it doesn't work well.

One category this capper takes the win is the way it has the satisfying finish when it has closed the cap completely. You get resistance all the way and then it finally gives way and you know the bottle is sealed.

I also like the magnet feature in the head of this capper. You can put your lid on the sealer and fit it over the bottle.

The bell on my old red capper finally stripped and would no longer stay in place. I bought this capper as a replacement. It looks fairly similar. Maybe not quite a sturdy as my 15 yr old one. I started capping a batch and after the 1st couple of of dozen bottles, I started getting the occasional mangled lid. Then two broken bottle necks in pretty quick succession. Issues I never had with my old capper. I started inspecting and noticed that the 2 reversible metal plates had gotten pretty deformed (see photos).

I was able to swap the deformed plates with the sturdier plates from my old capper and finished bottling without any further issues.

So at least in my experience the metal plates are too flimsy. Without my old plates, I probably would have major issued finishinhg the batch.

So I tried returning this, but apparently it’s too late, of course the nature of finding out not all of your beers have been sealed takes time… To use it isn’t easy, it’s unstable and occasionally seals only one side with the cap ending up wonky - so you throw a lot of dud caps away, but then sometimes it doesn’t grip at all and jumps off the bottle. Making my way through a lovely IPA but it sickens to have to throw some away due to a total lack of carbonation where the bottle hasn’t been properly sealed. In short - stay away from this cheap plastic hit n miss product!!
