DA1560 Travel Compact Steam Iron

Founded in Germany in 1909, Rowenta has a long history of innovation. In 1912, Rowenta manufactured their first iron, paving the way for their position today as the world’s largest producer of irons. In 1949, Rowenta launched the first iron with a temperature control and thermostat, followed by the first steam iron in 1957. In 1974, Rowenta expanded into floor care and launched their first vacuum cleaner in Europe. Rowenta manufactures the best, most technologically advanced German-engineered irons, and today is bringing its latest floor and home care innovations to North America with the same attention to high quality.

Exceeds my expectations! Light weight and sturdy; I don't foresee any handle breakage; it is locked in and should not require any hard hand pressure for wrinkle release, just guidance. I initially bought this after my previous "mini" steam iron was recalled and failed after one year; leaking all over my work table. This Rowenta "travel iron" has been used a lot for quilting and clothes making. It is light and maneuverable enough for my granddaughter to learn on with guidance vs. my normal sized Rowenta. I have not traveled with it... It does require filling frequently due to it's tank size, but that is to be expected.Description says that tap water may be used -- I would like to state for the record that tap water of any kind is NEVER used in any iron that I have owned. I have only used DISTILLED bottled water and I do not empty it out after each use. Tap water will contain minerals and/or chemicals for purification and will increase the risk of white mineral build up from the steam holes and internal damage to an iron. I have never had any leakage in any of the 4 irons I have owned in my life time -- except for the recalled one that was defective (My first one in 1972 is still going strong, but a little too heavy for me now). In my opinion, the small price of distilled water outweighs the risk of iron damage. My absolute favorite quality of this product (unlike the non-compact version), is that it does NOT have auto-shut off after a few moments of non use. You must unplug it to turn off. In my experience with the Rowenta Focus Excel Iron, Standard, when in the middle of piecing quilt parts and sewing clothing, it is extremely annoying for the iron to shut off while I am sewing and ironging multiple pieces in succesion and have the iron shut off -- having to wait for it to "wake up" befpre proceeding to the next step. While this safety shut-off feature may be prevelant in today's retail setting, I as the user must bear some responsibility and unplug it after use. Thank you Rowenta for having this no shut-off option on this iron.

This iron is really great, and has a long cord that reaches a good distance to plug it in. The color is beautiful, and the handle is very comfortable to iron with. You touch a button on the back of the iron and the handle automatically lowers to its original position. It has a place on the back of the iron where you can choose American or European current. It comes with a neat carrying bag to pack it and protect it in your suitcase while traveling. It heats to your heat setting in seconds not minutes. This is well worth it's money, and I highly recommend purchasing this iron.

We have had Rowenta full size irons for decades and we have been quite happy with their performance, but they are quite heavy for quick and light duties. So my wife decided to buy a light domestic copy. One after another, they proved unreliable and total waste of money.

Then we came across this light, travel-size Rowenta and we immediately bought it from Amazon. It was money well spent. The quality is typical Rowenta; German engineering and all. It is so light even my 96 year-old mother could lift it and use it quite easily (provided she does not mistakenly put it in the kitchen sink.) No pun intended big Mama!

The sole-plate is highly polished stainless steel which makes it a smooth gliding machine on all types of fabric. Lo and Behold we can also take it with us to London, England since it has a built-in current inverter which allows it to operate on either 120v or 240V for European or continental travel.

It has this ingenious design which makes the handle serve as water tank as well. The handle can be locked up for use or locked down for storage. And surprisingly for such a teeny weeny iron, it is rated 1000 watt, which makes it ideal for very quick, last-minute-type emergency use.

It has a very powerful steam engine for its size rendering it quite effective on wrinkled woolens and heavily wrinkled cotton fabrics, albeit, my wife says she would not use it on linens due to its small footprint and light weight. For that, she has the full size Rowenta anyway.

The soul plate is so highly polished and so smooth that it will hardly ever need cleaning since we do not believe any residual gunk could stick to it. I would not recommend that you leave it flat down unattended on any fabric though; it is after all a 1kw iron, light weight not withstanding.

All in all, I am happy with the purchase since my wife is so happy with the iron, and we have given it a 4-star rating. We would have given it 5-star had it had a more robust, non-plastic handle with a heavier duty locking mechanism. The current handle is the only weak point in the package. The German engineers sneeze-goofed only on this part ...Gesundheit!

Lightweight, easy to fill and turn on. The steam is great, but it doesn't last long for each fill. I'm using it for ironing quilting squares and can probably make two per fill.

I purchased this to use on a four city Northern Italy trip that included a wedding vow renewal, so full wedding dress, suit, etc., all while staying at short-term rental apartments. It was used as both an iron and a vertical steamer, excelling at both tasks. Most travel irons require a bit of patience and a different approach from a full-sized iron, but this is more like a smaller form factor version of the full-sized Rowenta model we use at home. It’s 1000W instead of that 1750W, but still gets plenty hot at full tilt with a useful amount of steam production, including an on-demand steam shot. Like with any travel iron, treat it a bit gingerly and remember to drain and dry it when not in use. I’d 100% say that this is worth the money and among the best travel irons on the market.

I love my little iron. Small enough to take any where, strong enough to iron with the best of them. Don't have to worry about using distilled water, was made to use tap water, irons with or without steam..You won't be sorry you bought it. T.W.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wrinkle-Free on the Go

As someone who hates ironing but loves well-pressed clothes, I was excited to try the Rowenta garment steamer. It promises wrinkle-busting power in a compact, travel-friendly design. Here's my experience:

Right out of the box, I was impressed by the steamer's build quality. It's made of thick plastic and feels sturdy, a reassuring sign for a device I'll likely be tossing into suitcases. The folding handle is a clever touch, making it even smaller for packing. True, it's not the most elegant design, but functionality seems to be the focus here.

This steamer lives up to its claim of fast heat-up—it's ready to go in less than 30 seconds! The steam effectively tackles wrinkles on various fabrics, especially lighter garments like t-shirts and blouses. I was even surprised how well it smoothed out my jeans after a wash. However, it does struggle with deeper creases, like those stubbornly set into heavier fabrics.

While I love how portable the Rowenta steamer is, there are practical considerations. The water tank is intentionally small for compactness, meaning it only gets me through a couple of garments before needing a refill. Additionally, holding the steamer for extended periods did get a little tiring, despite its relatively light weight.

Overall, this Rowenta steamer is a great option for quick touch-ups and wrinkle emergencies, especially when on the go. It won't fully replace a traditional iron for tackling heavy-duty wrinkle battles, but it offers convenience, fast heating, and solid performance for its size. If you frequently travel or need a quick fix for light wrinkles, and are willing to accept the trade-offs for portability, this steamer is a great, budget-friendly option.

Me gustó mucho, excelente tamaño y calidad del producto, para viaje y casa. Dado que es una plancha pequeña su receptáculo de agua es pequeño pero eficiente para brindar vapor.
Recomendable!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best little iron

This is my 2nd time I buy this iron because I liked it so much. It is the hottest little iron on the market but what out for the handle, do not put too much pressure as it will break and the handle will not stay up any longer. I use this iron for quilt retreats and when I had tennis elbow I could not use my big heavy rowenta pro master. It allowed me to continue quilting and did a fine job...it goes through water a lot but it only has maybe a half or three quarters of a cup. I just kept a water jug around. The pointy nose is useful as well but it’s small size was useful for working on small quilt blocks and easy to carry around for a quilt retreat.

This thing is a lifesaver for someone like me who hates ironing but needs to look sharp. The only thing i feel like improvement is better packaging through which this can be gifted well to someone.

What I love about this steamer is how fast it heats up – we're talking 25 seconds, and it's ready to blast away those wrinkles. It's perfect for those mornings when you're in a hurry. The steamer is super easy to use; fill it up, turn it on, and you're good to go.

This steamer is pretty light and has a foldable design, which makes it easy to store or take with you on trips. It's been a game-changer for my business trips. No more ironing in hotel rooms or wearing wrinkled shirts to meetings.

It works really well on all sorts of fabrics, from shirts to dresses, and even thicker materials. I've used it on a bunch of my clothes, and it does a great job of getting rid of wrinkles without much effort. Plus, it freshens up your clothes, making them smell nice and feel like they've just been laundered.

The water tank is a bit on the smaller side, so you might need to refill it if you're steaming several items in one go. But considering its size and portability, I think it's a fair trade-off.

This handheld steamer is a fantastic buy for anyone looking to ditch the iron without sacrificing the look of freshly pressed clothes. It's quick, efficient, and easy to use, making it perfect for both home and travel.

5.0 out of 5 stars It actually does steam

Yes it actually does steam, unlike the one I had before it that was basically the same price and also a well known brand. This is a great mini iron and works perfectly beside my sewing machine for quick pressing. The only way the handle is going to break is if it is mistreated or dropped on the floor so I did not consider those reviews in my decision. Yes I would buy it again.
