This is a cute, educational toy set that teaches about human anatomy. The pieces can be mixed and matched. The various layers show internal organs, bones, muscles, and disclaimer: g*nitalia. A parent giving this to their young child is one thing, but coming from another adult could be awkward. I was expecting the various internal layers but pulled the external view aside when playing with my grandchild. Solid construction, informative and educational, but there's not much to it. It's not something that holds their attention for long.

I love this product and the high quality storage tray, the magnets could be stronger because when you have all the layers on the slide off the body frame so you can no longer use the provided stand and need to lay it flat. Also there is no lid or top to help keep the peices in the tray when storing.

I homeschool my kiddos and this was the perfect addition for our anatomy unit. My eldest is using a squishy guts model and we got this Melissa and Doug magnetic “toy” for our four year old whom we are starting preschool for. The lesson was a hit! This is a toy that we will revisit numerous times to cover all the different systems. I picked it because it’s anatomically correct and wanted an age appropriate way to discuss the male and female parts. Like others have mentioned, this needs a lid!!!! Seriously! I’m considering getting a letter tray so that we can sit this horizontally to avoid losing parts while still maximizing space. That way, we can use the other letter tray slots to hold other similar non-lided wooden toys and puzzles. I also wonder if Melissa and Doug’s wire puzzle rack holder would work for this. I may look into getting one

If this review was helpful, please leave a thumbs up 👍🏼

Update on June 1, 2021: The largest Melissa And Doug wire rack designed for chunky puzzles will NOT accommodate this anatomy set. It can only accommodate puzzles up to 3/4” in thickness. The anatomy puzzle is about 1-1/8” thick. I measured. I still haven’t figured out an ideal storage solution. They should REALLY come with lids 😑 It’s been a few years since this purchase and we’ve managed to keep up with all the pieces, even after a cross country move. But we’ve had some close calls. My then 4 year old is now almost 6 and she still uses this. I have a 2 year old now and a 2 month old. So it will continue to get lots of use. Therefore, I’m still contemplating the best way to store this when it’s put away. I can somewhat squeeze it into a Tall clear shoebox container from The Container Store (the ~$5 one) but only if I really push it in. I never got a letter tray to store it on because it doesn’t address my need for a lid. So for now, the shoe box from The Container Store will have to do. And when it’s in use, it just sits on a bookshelf (Montessori style).

Move over Picasso; my daughter's latest masterpiece isn't on paper – it's a magnetic human anatomy puzzle by Melissa & Doug. This isn't just a puzzle; it's a miniature medical school for pint-sized doctors. I've witnessed more body part reunions than a superhero team-up movie. Forget regular puzzles; my living room has become an anatomy lab with limbs, organs, and a wooden stand that deserves an honorary PhD. My kid is now a certified body builder – of magnetic human figures, that is. Who knew learning about organs could be this magnetic, both literally and figuratively? Melissa & Doug, you've turned anatomy into an art form!
