They taste good, and are allegedly healthy with all of the protein that they have. There seems to be confusion on the nutrition information. When I order these, I receive bars with 330 calories, 30g of protein, 40 carbs with 21g sugar, and 5g fiber. I won't tell you the calcium and iron content because that would be just too many spoilers. All this is for the delicious chocolate brownie flavored bars. I've purchased this product several times and the only complaint I have is that I keep running out. It's not necessarily hard for me to like a food product, because I like most food products... but this is one of them, I guess.

I have purchased two packs of these bars over the last few months. The first time I got the old style, and most recently I received the "New & Improved" bars.

I liked the old bars pretty well. They had a good taste, but were so dense / compressed it was like chewing a wad of bubblegum.

The new bars are a big improvement. They are a little "fluffier", not as compacted or stiff, which makes eating them less of a chore. The added soy crisps add a little more texture and flavor variety in each bite.

The price here is great. At my local store these are about $3 each.

I will order again when I run out (which won't be long).

I'm on my second box of these. I've got to say, this is by far the tastiest way to get extra protein. The bars are soft and chewy. Like a milkyway but with a little more consistency. There's still that protein powder granularity but compared to other forms of protein bars/shakes/powders this least detectable version I've ever tried. For those with nut allergies, there are almond specks in it. I'd like to call them chunks but they really are more like specks. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because man does this cause gas. I eat one of these every morning and by noon, I'm burping. By dinner well, it's the other end. Not horrific but it's there all the same.

I got this at a coupon discount. I would usually prefer and buy this: "MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Meal Replacement Bar" because it's cheaper ($1.74 per bar), with 32G of protein and a comprehensive nutrition value and it's quality too.
So why did I purchase this? And why you should if you have these reasons:
- There's an ongoing coupon discount. That brings it down to a competitive and comparative price.
- It's smaller (faster to consume and convenient to bring around).
- Lastly, this powerbar mainly focuses on protein. For those of you who only want to get protein out of a bar, this would be more suitable than the meal replacement bar.

It's not candy. It's not supposed to taste like a dessert, but it's close enough and doesn't have that mushy, gritty taste that a lot of protein bars have and you don't have to force yourself to eat it. I don't taste the chemical aftertaste that some people complain about. Maybe my taste buds aren't so attuned. All in all a great way to get 30 grams of protein.

Back in the day, the PowerBar Protein Plus bar was my go-to protein bar. I've only recently returned to a lifestyle in which protein bars are really convenient, and I initially started buying PowerBars again, although typically the ones with 20g protein. I must say that, in general, I'm finding that PowerBar is now well behind the curve in terms of both taste and nutrition. PowerBars are relatively cheap, but in my opinion, that's about the only thing they really have going for them now. I'd take a Combat Crunch, Quest, or Mission1 bar over a PowerBar any day. Those bars are all lower in sugar, so if you're aiming to get your 3:1 or 4:1 ratio, maybe you'll prefer the PowerBar, although you're still going to have to add an external carb source.

I went looking for the 30g Vanilla yogurt Protein Plus, rated '2' for 'during'. I accidentally bought the 20g Protein Plus (rated '3' for 'after'). They are very different in texture and taste. I love the 30g 'During', but the 20g 'after' is downright disgusting. Texture like sawdust, taste like playdough. Threw it out after one bite. Taste is an individual thing, but if you're looking for the 30g version, make sure you get what you're looking for. The Amazon heading says 30g, but when you select the flavor, it switches to 20g. Anyone want a free box?

UPDATED: 4/15 A "new Improved" version of these bars appeared a few months ago. Taste maybe slightly better, but texture is softer less chewy, less satisfying.
