Coleman PerfectFlow Propane Camp Grill
I give this grill 4 stars mainly because of it's superior size while maintaining portability...Ordered with Amazon Prime and thanks to living in Oregon just 5 hours from the shipping hub I received it the very next day!!The packaging was good and only assembly required was four screws to mount the bottom legs to the unit. Problem was Coleman forgot the screws! (taking care of that now)For some reason and it's my fault for not properly reading the description. I was expecting the grill to come with the Insta-Start push button feature which this model version does not have, (but according to the user manual and lid label does exist) so you have to manually lift the grill and light with a match (oh well)This grill works great!!! Cooked hamburgers the first night to pure perfection, and Rib Eye steaks the next! All came out perfect tho like with any new grill you will have to get use to flame levels and cook times. The chassis quality and overall size and weight of the unit is similar to a standard Coleman stove. The lid is a little thin and wants to buckle slightly when opening and closing but that's typical and really doesn't hurt anything. One very important note: The grill grate after the first use warped slightly after it cooled off thus preventing the grill to sit even on the unit but only slightly and on the next use when heat from the burner reapplied, the grill sat back even again so no big deal tho I wish the grill grate was a slightly heavier material but still works well! Some people have complained that you can not close the lid when cooking. This is a true fact! Coleman was keeping portability in mind with this design. However you can simply use a baking pan for a lid and that works just as well! The new models of these stoves have the side burner on them which I do not need and reduce the grill side down by 1/3rd and thanks to Amazon I was able to still purchase this model as I love the size of the grill! you can cook 6-8 at a time of those hamburgers you find frozen in the bags at the supermarket. I was able to cook (4) 3/4 pound Rib Eyes at the same time still leaving plenty of room on the grill for a 5th steak!I am now currently in search of a griddle that will fit this unit to exact size. They make them for the new edition units with the side burner but that will only cover 65-70% of this unit. So ill update this review when I complete that search and update further on how the grill is working out.Bottom Line: Could be better but really so can anything! The Portability and grilling area of this unit really makes this grill a winner!******Update October 23rd 2012*******As to my previous review I am dropping my rating by 1 star to 3.The grill grate warping over time has gotten much worse! (See Pics) Now the grate on the bottom left corner will not sit back in place at all unless you are cooking a heavy steak on it! After much more research I see this is a real problem with this version of grill!! In most cases that I have read even the Coleman warranty replacements continue to warp and here is why: Originally this unit came with a cast iron non stick painted grate only to be eventually replaced by a lite-steel painted version of it. The propane regulator for the unit is designed around the cast iron grate thus putting out way more heat on the "High" setting than the steel grate is rated for hence the warping! Now in my experience using this grill I have never had to set the heat beyond "Med Low" for anything! Infact for steaks always on "low" anything more will burn the heck outa anything you are cooking on it! The reason the grate warped on me is because I would set it to High to pre-heat the grill before cooking on it! I am in the process of replacing the grate under warranty and this time around Ill only pre-heat on "medium low".I still rate it 3 stars for it's purpose and quality beyond this issue! Wish Coleman would send me the original cast iron grate but I don't think that will happen! I see now why they discontinued the unit! But like I said with that knowledge in mind about temp settings It should perform just fine! (Will update again to confirm!)
