It's very easy to install between 2 wall studs. It comes with a Fire-Liner velvet interior for a great plush look and feel. The Fire-Liner will give a 30 minute fire protection for paper stores inside the safe. The 2 shelves are removable for convenience. The keypad is flush with the safe's flange, therefore able you to hang a picture over the safe to conceal it from view. The keypad has a hidden lock to open the safe with a mechanical override key (2 included) . This key is used only when batteries are dead or keypad is damaged. Since this safe is 8" deep we recommend hiring a contractor or a handyman for the installation. Made for deep walls 8" or more. The door of this wall safe is made of 3/16" thick solid steel plate to prevent from forcibly prying open the door.

Other reviewers have noted that this is a deep safe and WILL NOT fit within they typical wall, so be sure to carefully select placement.
There are no installation instructions with the safe, just instructions on how to use the electric lock. However, it is fairly straightforward to install.
Tools needed:
- drywall cutter
- stud finder
- drills (if you aren't using the pre-drilled holes)
- 3" decking screws (if you aren't using the included lags)
- adhesive (to re-install and secure the interior felt-covered panels)
I turned the safe over and traced out the cut-out on cardboard and used that as a template for the hole to cut into the wall.
The only difficulty is in getting access to the three bolt holes that secure the safe to the side studs. Note: with a 14" exterior width, you may need to have to shim 2X4s to get a snug fit.
I also did an extra step and used a dremel tool to relieve the drywall so the safe is completely flush with the wall. There is a 1/4" thick steel flange that extends from the safe outward 5/8". If you don't remove this amount of surface drywall, your safe door flange will stick out 1/4" from the wall all the way around. Not a big deal, but I figured I might as well make it truly flush. Note: this will extend the BACK of your safe an additional 1/4" so BE SURE you have room back there.
I marked and then countersunk it into the drywall.
To gain access to the metal interior of the safe, you must remove the felt-covered fire-resistant panels lining the interior. They are secured with some fairly weak blobs of dried adhesive. For the safe I installed, using pliers or vice-grips, pull out the right wall panel FIRST gripping it by the shelf supports. SECOND, pull up the bottom panel from the rear (I used a butter knife to loosen it) and finally THIRD the left wall panel, again using the pliers pulling on the shelf support.
Note: While there are 6 pre-drilled holes, you don't need to use them. I needed to secure mine into a couple of 2X4's behind the safe and to two 2X4's on both sides of the safe near the front edge. Just drill holes you need (using a sharp bit and a slow drill), then screw it in. Even using decking screws, it is locked in tight.
The whole project took about an hour. Nice safe. Easy install.

What's great about it...
- It feels very solid. This is a hefty box made from heavy gauge metal and it feels impenetrable
- The door mechanism is very smooth, swings easily on the hinges
- The keypad lock mechanism works well, easy to program or re-program
- The keypad lock has a supplemental battery pack that plugs into a jack on the front panel in case the batteries on the inside wear out
- There is also a key that you can use a a last resort to get the door open
Why it didn't get 5 Stars...
- There are no installation instructions. Granted, it's a rather simple thing to install, i.e. cut a hole in the wall and screw in some lag screws - but it would have been helpful to know the trick to getting the interior shelves/panels out in order to expose the pre-drilled hole in the sides (another review talked about how to do that and it was helpful)
- The pre-drilled holes for the lag screws are 4 inches from the front. This safe is about 8" deep and the holes are at the halfway point. I installed the safe in a wall with plenty of room in the back, but with 3.5 inch studs, so I had to come up with a workaround. They could have drilled the holes 3 inches deep and it would be fine for all types of construction, including 3.5 inch studs
- The interior panels (once you figure out how to remove them) have some round recesses cut into their back side to fit over the heads of the lag screws. On the front of the panel, the fabric is covering those recesses. This is a nice feature. Theoretically, those panels would go back in and the recess holes would fit nicely over the heads of the lag screws and you would see only the fabric covering and no lag screws. Theoretically. The panels didn't quit line up with the lag screws in the pre-drilled holes. Fortunately, the panels are made of gypsum (like sheetrock) and I just had to carve away some of it to make them fit over the lag screws. With that done, the interior has a very clean look.
Bottom line - a very solid product with a few challenges to install it right - 4 stars
