Probably the most effective tool I own, except for maybe the recip saw.
Only negative I've noticed so far is this drill eats batteries. If they won't hold a full charge, or aren't fully charged, it'll wear them out quick. Fully charged batteries last for 100 or so screws.
A year later, still one of my favorite tools. The only reason it's not my absolute favorite is that I own a couple of Paslode cordless nailers. After using the pneumatic nailers, the cordless is so convenient and simple to use, it blows any others away. Still, this little bugger is a tough, hard-working bruiser of a tool. I've dropped it from 6 feet and dropped stuff on it and it still works great.
You pull this out on a worksite and the other guys laugh at it because it looks like a toy, but start running 8 inch long 1/2 inch lag bolts into 100 year old wood without pre-drilling, they start asking questions like where can I get one of those.
Impressive, powerful, fits into tight spaces, small enough your kids can use.
PROs: no more stripping heads of screws, short and fits in places drills will not, insane power for being a small cordless tool, impact tool so it will drive when drills & screwdrivers can't, variable speed trigger (torque drops and speed raises), can replace drill and cordless screwdrivers, so many bits available that you can do an amazing amount of work with this thing, it's small so it is super easy to carry on you.
CONs: it's almost perfect so this is hard...if i could change one thing, i would like an adjustable torque so that the speed wasn't tied inversely to the torque. when you want to slow down to get a screw set just right, that jacks up the torque and you might set it a little lower than you would like. you won't strip screw heads but you can easily strip the material the screw is going into. this thing is so powerful you start thinking it can replace your impact wrench. that will work on small stuff but don't expect this tiny cordless tool to do the job of a good 1/2" plug-in impact wrench.
Because of the smaller size and the power, I prefer one of my three DeWalt impacts over ALL of my DeWalt drills. Of course there are times when you need the power or versatility of a larger drill, but for driving screws, bolts, nuts and drilling small holes the tiny impact can't be beat.
Like I said, I have three of them all purchased over the last 8 years - models 825, 826 and 056. DeWalt keeps making them smaller, but retaining the power. And ALL of mine work flawlessly. Love 'em.
One note: New electrical motors can sometimes give off a plastic burning smell. Don't fret - it goes away with use.
One thing that would be nice is if the LED were allowed to come on with say a slight pull of the trigger and then if you pull the trigger the rest of the way the impact would engage. YES, I know that you can do exactly that, but it is not designed for it. As soon as you pull the trigger it supplies power to the motor and LED, albeit not enough power to actually make the motor turn. If you keep using your tool in this fashion you are shortening the life of the motor by feeding it too little power. Electric motors like full power. What I'm proposing is an actual detent in the trigger that would FIRST turn on the LED with NO power to the motor. I hear other brands have that. But then I'm sure I'd be using my favorite tool as a flashlight. lol
DeWalt impacts.........My Favorite Tool.
This thing is amazing in so many ways. The torque is strong enough to drill through 3 inch pieces of wood with just a drywall screw and no pre-drilling of the hole. It is lighter than his drill so easier to hold for longer periods of time. The quick snap in and snap out of the bits is another great feature and the light helps as well. My dad loved it so much he ended up getting drill bits that came with the hex end so he can use this as his drill from time to time.
The best part is with having this and the drill, he doesn't need to keep changing out the bits from the drill bit to the screw driving bit which also saves time and makes things less frustrating.
It is also very durable and it has been dropped twice, both from about 10 feet and the thing never skipped a beat.
I would recommend this to anyone who does any type of house work and I especially recommend the Dewalt brand as well.

Brilliant, so good at removing those stubborn rusted screws in the garden etc as the hammer breaks the seal/rust lock prior to the screw ripping up
When using on new kit, again the fixed tork prevents anything tearing up fixings
