KEEP BUGS AT BAY

Treat your lawn with an all-purpose lawn spray labeled for use against mosquitoes, like Cutter Backyard Bug Control products, to create a barrier against biting bugs.

Use a patio repellent around your deck or outdoor gathering area to create a zone of mosquito protection while you’re spending time outdoors. Easy-to-use Cutter CitroGuard Candles use the repelling properties of citronella oil to repel mosquitoes and other flying bugs for hours.

Use a personal insect repellent as a reliable line of defense against biting bugs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends using a repellent, with DEET, Picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus, as a highly effective way to minimize your risk of mosquito bites.

Helped a little but we're all still covered in bites.

Helped a little but we're all still covered in bites.
Either we have bionic mosquitoes or this candle doesn't work to repel mosquitoes very well. I got the tan bucket only because it was available right away. I have the silver one on Subscribe and Save coming on the 1st of August but may cancel it now that I have used the tan candle. We used it at the lake near a campfire. I set the bucket right near me because I tend to attract mosquitoes more than others. The scent is OK. Not too strong. I hate citronella but it is a necessary evil. This one, while made with real citronella oil, wasn't overwhelming. The bucket was only about three quarters full when I opened it but there was still plenty in there. We lit the candle and sat by the fire and ... we all got bit like crazy. I do have to say that my husband got bit more than I did which is a slight testament to the efficiency of this candle. Maybe. The mosquitoes were definitely out in force since we were by the water and it was very humid. The campfire did nothing to keep them away.I also used a very small candle which didn't do anything. This Cutter Citro Guard Candle needs to be quite close to the people or person who wants protection as it doesn't throw much scent. It does help a little bit but it isn't THE answer to our mosquito issue. Perhaps it would be fine in a backyard away from water which tends to make the bugs so much worse. I will probably get the silver one and use it away from the lake. It seems as it if it would be better on a deck or patio rather than for camping or roughing it out by the water. It helped a little but and didn't smell awful. It burned for a long time and there is still plenty left. And I like that the bucket is metal. I will reuse it for .. .something. But if you want a candle that really keeps mosquitoes and other bugs at bay, this one may disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Me and Doggo approve!
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2019
I got this because me and my doggo sit on the balcony often. Where I’m from it’s summer 3/4 of the year and the mosquitos thrive all year, except those two weeks out the year when it’s less than 60 degrees. I got this candle because the vet said the mosquitos can cause heart worms in my pup if he gets bitten so I just wanted to protect him. I know when he’s bitten because he’ll start whining to go in and I myself will have noticed a couple bites on myself. When I lit this candle I could almost immediately appreciate the smell of the essential oil, after about 30 minutes of being out there my dog wasn’t whining to go in and I hadn’t been bitten any. At one point I even saw a mosquito flying by the candle but it never came any closer to us. Today I went out on my own and made the mistake of not lighting the candle and now I’m itching from bug bites! I’ve learned my lesson and will always be using this candle. I definitely recommend
