This Mobo is a dream come true for me. At age 69, I just love this ride. It meets all my needs that were lacking on my old adult trike. It was a no frills straight kids type trike made for adults. No brakes or other safety features. The brakes on this Mobo are a huge plus. The brake is a parking brake as well as a hand brake, and allows me to safely mount and dismount knowing it won't move on me. Also a huge plus is the rear steering that allows my feet to rest comfortably on the pedals. My old trike caused my feet to fall off the pedals at every turn, simply because I'm only 4' 11". I could never reach the pedals comfortably. The Mobo eliminates that issue. It is also easy for me to get on and off. The bar is only 7 inches off the ground, allowing me to easily step over it.
This trike eliminates the fear factor of all the things that were keeping me from riding my old trike. It's been more than 2 years since I have ridden it because I could not risk getting hurt from a fall due to the design of a traditional trike. The safety features on this Mobo make it a hundred percent safer and more fun. To be able to get outside and ride again is perfect for mind and body.
My husband put this together in less than an hour. It came with colorful laminated instructions and all the tools and hardware needed for assembly. He carefully adjusted the 'camber' on the back wheels so they are aligned correctly, making sure the wheels are in line with each other. He lined it up using a tape measure, assuring both steering rods were equal distance on each side. (They can be adjusted separately) This should eliminate issues with tire wear. Don't take shortcuts. If one looks different, check your adjustments again.
The reverse gear works great. This is a slick little device. You just have to slightly pedal in place when engaging reverse. You will feel it lock in. The brake works smoothly and precisely and stops on a dime.
One thing to consider is the seat hight is just 12 inches off the ground. Even with my disability it is fairly easy for me to use the steering bars up get up off the seat, but my husband is looking for spacers to try to raise it an inch higher. Though it works great as it sits, an inch higher could make it easier for me to stand. I put the padded cover from my exercise bike on the seat, the extra padding is much appreciated.
The steering takes little effort. It can be steered with one hand unless turning. It also 'free wheels', allowing you to cruise and coast. I totally love this feature.
This trike has a large turning radius. It will not 'turn on a dime'. I would estimate a circle would use about 10 feet of space, but I have no trouble turning street corners. Just give yourself some space. I doubt it will do a sharp "L" shaped corner. This isn't something I would be concerned about, but it needs to be mentioned.
Some of the safety features are: A good solid brake with added parking brake, reflectors on pedals and in the rear, a flag to make spotting you easier, folding pedals for convenience, sturdy fenders, and padded steering bars and back rest, which adjusts to 6 different positions. You are sure to find your comfort zone.
This trike will easily adjust to fit my husband, at 6 foot, or me, at 4' 11". I have it on the second hole from the front, it will still go shorter. It's so easy to adjust for almost any hight everyone in the family can have fun on this. That's the beauty of this, it's very family oriented.
Getting to the actual riding experience, if you are expecting a speed machine, this is not it. With one forward gear it is for leisurely rides through parks and bike trails. I live in a community setting where we have 3.5 miles of nearly flat black top paved surfaces. There are some small hills, one of those hills is a challenge to not "burn out" the tire. It can lose some traction because the front gets light with your weight over the back wheels. This is something to consider when purchasing. If you live in a hilly area, look elsewhere. This won't cut anything over a gentle slope. Think carefully about where you intend to use it. It is not friendly in loose gravel, sand or on hills.
Going down even a slight slope, this baby can sail at a good clip thanks to the free wheel capability. Don't make sudden movements with the steering. It is capable of rolling. By this I mean a side roll if you suddenly turn while rolling at a good clip down hill. No, I have not rolled it, but I did have it on two wheels on my maiden voyage, not knowing how it would handle. So that said, just be careful.
The tires lost air very quickly, but that is a minor issue. I will replace them with street tires in the future. I cannot figure out why mountain bike (off road tires) were mounted on a bike that is strictly for the street. Mobo would do well to reconsider the tires they use.
I added pedal extenders, because one foot turns outward. Pedal extenders are also thought to eliminate stress on the knees. They make it so that my lazy foot doesn't hit the pedal shaft on each turn. The thread is 9/16.
For the price, you can't beat the fun factor. This gives a real good workout for your entire body. I'm getting exercise I have not had the privilege of getting for two years, and having a blast doing it.
In summery, it's not a speed machine. You will not be able to keep up with the grandkids on their bikes, but you can sure slow down and smell the flowers. This is totally fun. It will provide you with a fair workout and lots of conversations when your neighbors stop you to ask you about it. It will put a smile on your face.
On a personal note, I would have loved having something like this when I was a kid. There is little out there for disabled people in this price range, that's a fact. Trikes for the disabled run into the thousands. Mobo offers some accessories for the disabled. Check their page. This is a kid's dream come true and the perfect route to fun you may be missing out on, either because yor are struggling with a disability, or perhaps you are a senior looking for something new in your life. Have you always wanted ro ride but something is holding you back? This might be the ticket you need to a new experience and a fun summer.

Regarding CUSTOMER SERVICE: it has taken me 3 weeks to write the review because I was waiting to see how customer services reacted to a couple of requests. There was a damaged part (Pull knob for length adjustment) but they reacted as soon as I called and sent me a new one in perfect working condition. Had some difficulty getting reverse to work, they walked me through the process and in five minutes I was able to fix it.
My wife and all the neighborhood kids love it (me too). Lots of fun to ride!
For SAFETY I added a blinking light to the (modified) flag pole. The safety lightis a "must have" if riding on the street.
I give the trike 5 STARS and customer service "6". Thank you!

He even wants to go out everyday now. Before he got this he wouldn't go out at all.
Pros:
- Fun. My daughter has a blast on these trikes. She has definitely traveled over 500km on it in the 7 years she's had the Mobito, probably over 1000km. She has explored all the sidewalks and alleyways and bike paths around here, typically on 4-5km trips. She has splashed through every puddle she could find. Winter, spring, summer, fall, she loves to be out on her trike.
- Visual design. Kids spontaneously say "Cool bike!" when we pass them on the sidewalk. It's a nice-looking trike. We had the yellow Mobito, which I think helped with that "wow!" factor.
- Low maintenance. Other than replacing tires because of all the miles she put on it and occasionally tightening up bolts, it required little maintenance.
- Grows with you. My daughter grew a lot over 7 years. Lengthening the trike was as simple as flipping the quick-release nut, pulling the pin, and sliding it back a notch. Financially, that made the trike a great purchase for us.
Things I tuned/improved:
- Push bar. I got some 1" x 4' square steel tubing from the hardware store and added a push bar. I used BMX pegs for handles. This required drilling a couple of holes in the frame, but it was well worth it. I used the push bar to help her turn, pull her out of mud puddles, and make sure she stopped at crosswalks. Mobo offers a push bar for their toddler trikes, but it would be nice to have it as a standard option for their bigger trikes, too.
- Easier steering. My daughter has trouble with the full strength of the steering springs, so I removed one of the two springs to make it easier for her to steer.
- Easier braking. My daughter's hands are on the small and weak side, so I tuned all the brake springs and screws to make it as easy as possible for her to brake. The front wheel wasn't trued up enough from the factory for such close-tolerance braking, so some spoke adjustment was required, too.
Cons:
- Downhill danger. Going fast down a hill is dangerous on this trike. My daughter tipped the trike over twice when doing a sharp turn after going fast down a hill. She always wears her bike helmet while riding, so luckily she got away with just a few scrapes both times. With two wheels in the back and one in the front, it's reminiscent of the infamously unstable Honda three wheeled ATVs. To be fair to Mobo, they do say that their trikes are unsuitable for hills.
- Uphill pedaling. With most of the weight over the back wheels and little over the front wheel, the front wheel starts to slip on even small slopes. I guess with downhill riding being so dangerous you could count this as a safety feature, since if you can't go up a hill you can't ride back down. Having the seat just a bit further forward to help with uphill pedaling grip would be nice, though.
- Steering tube design. The steering tubes point straight down, instead of pointing at the spot where the tire rubber meets the road. This means that both back wheels are constantly being pulled back toward 90 degrees, but in opposite directions. They dealt with this problem by adding a couple of springs to pull the steering straight, but it's a hack fix. If the back wheels are out of alignment, the steering starts oscillating wildly at higher speeds. To keep the wheels in alignment, you have to make sure that the two bolts holding the front end to the back end stay tight. Even with the wheels in alignment, the steering springs mean that the steering is harder to push than it needs to be. If I were given the choice to redesign one thing about this bike, I'd point the steering tubes differently. (I'd point them a little ahead of the point where the rubber meets the road in order to give some straight-line stability and also make them more responsive to steering with a push bar.)
One more Shift-specific con: The flange on the front axle that engages the freewheel was welded on a bit crooked on both Shift trikes that we bought, which led to some slightly audible grinding of the freewheel while coasting. My daughter doesn't coast much, though - she's constantly pedaling - so this wasn't a big concern for us. Just a minor quality problem.
Overall: If you're thrilled by going 7-8km/h on mostly flat ground, like my daughter is, this is a fantastic trike. Nothing has been better for keeping my daughter active and in shape while having fun as the Mobo Mobito and Shift have.
problems with this product including Mia drilled holes and inability to tighten the wheels. The frame flexed when she sat in it with her 140 pounds. Maybe for a child, not for an adult. Back it goes.
My main beef is that the front end has some significant play in it because of how the shaft slides into the frame; even with the quick release skewer tightened down (not too much, because I don't want to break the skewer bosses off), there is some play that is really pronounced on the front wheel. A thin resin shim would alleviate that. The steering can also be a little tough for my girl to do, but I am doing what I can to adjust the linkage and make things easier.
