Ironing Boards: Traditional and Innovative Styles

Discover a vast array of ironing boards for every ironing need. From classic boards to lightweight designs, from standard size to the most compact sleeve board, from free-standing to cabinet boards, Household Essentials ironing board collection invites you to enjoy our long-standing expertise in ironing boards.

Options for Comfort and Style!

Stance

Ironing boards have different stances. Some stances are modified for stability, others for style and appearance. HHE offers you options, so you can have the board you want. The T-Leg is classic; the Euro-Leg modern; the Bamboo Leg sophisticated; and the 4-Leg stable and adaptable.

Height Adjustment

All HHE ironing boards are height adjustable, so you can fit your board to your height. This makes ironing more comfortable, which is always a good thing.

Color Options

Each home has its own style. So we've provided a number of finishes on our ironing boards so you can find the board to fit your aesthetic. Choose from wood frames like bamboo or eucalyptus or metal frames with silver, black, copper, or bronze finishes.

Collapsible with Leg Lock

All good ironing boards collapse for storage. But HHE boards stay closed, thanks to the plastic or metal leg lock on the underside of the board. This leg lock does what its name suggests: it locks the legs in place. This means safer storage for your board.

Sleeve Board

Sleeve boards are wonderful--especially if there are sleeves and cuffs to be ironed. This feature allows sleeves to be ironed one layer at a time, reducing creases and smoothing wrinkles more effectively than the usual method. The sleeve board comes attached to the Mega Wide Top or sold separately as an accessory board.

Great board, horrible cover! Not made to last for a seamstress or one that irons items.
2 Stars
Great board, horrible cover! Not made to last for a seamstress or one that irons items.
I purchased this board because of the Fibertech board and the width. My last ironing board was years old and the metal underneath started to rust and bleed up to the material I was pressing so Fibertech sounded perfect! My board arrived without damage and sits as solid as expected. Why I knocked off 2 star and almost returned it, is because of the 100% cotton cover that is on this unit. I do quilting and sewing and often use a higher heat setting with steam. This cover scorches, burns and has a horrible odor when using a cotton setting. The smell was so bad you could almost taste it! It appears to have been treated with some chemical that causes this problem, cotton shouldn't scorch when using a cotton setting, steam should have no effect on cotton. The instructions say not to wash the cover just wipe it when soiled...hymmmm! I ended up removing the cover from the main unit and the sleeve unit and making new covers for them. I use cotton all the time and have never had this type of a problem with an ironing board cover. I also added extra padding to it since it came with one layer of poly fiber underneath. I think the board is great but if you are a quilter or sewer plan on a new cover as soon as you purchase it. I was going to just knock off 1 star but I have never experienced such a poor cotton cover and at the price paid one shouldn't have to make a new covers as soon as they get it.Update (Oct.2, 2012), I did wash the ironing board cover and let it drip dry, the chemical smell was removed and it would take a hot iron. Only trouble is it shrunk too much to be used even though I didn't put it in the dryer. The cover is made in China so it is hard to tell what chemical it had been treated with. Not good...Updated (July 15, 2017): this ironing board is not made to last changed to two stars. I've had it less than 5 years and not sure when it cracked, hid by padding and cover. I went to replace my cover on the ironing board and it is almost cracked in half! I am a sewer so use it more than most but do not sew commercially, only for myself. I would expect it to hold up better :-( Stained and broke! I also paid $60.05 for it when purchased, disappointed. See picture.

I can't say enough about this ironing board. It is sturdy, versatile, and chock full of features. I used to hate ironing, but as soon as I got this ironing board (yesterday), I got some wrinkled items out to test it. My conclusions:

STURDINESS
The first thing I noticed was how well the board is put together. The legs are sturdy, made of a heavier metal than standard ironing board legs, and they are well attached to the board. It does not wobble.

WEIGHT
The sturdiness does, however, make the board heavier than a standard board. It would not be the right board for those who can't lift about 20 pounds. I hung my old ironing board, but I'm going to lean this one against the wall because I'm worried that the leg supports might weaken eventually from the weight if I hang it.

BOARD SURFACE
Other reviewers have mentioned that the board is made of plastic. It is made from Fibertech, which is their specially manufactured "plastic." It is about 1/2 thick. Because of the other reviews, I bought a metallic cover to go over the included cover (Checkys Deals Silver Silicone Metallic Wide Top 18" X 48" - 49" Ironing Board Cover and Thick 6mm PAD) to protect the surface even more because I love this board, and I don't want it to break.

*Note* I asked my husband if he could replace the included board with a metal one from a cheap ironing board if this one ever breaks, and he says he could.

The board itself is so wide that I'm sure that some items could be placed on the board either horizontally or vertically and still fit. (I was ironing bedskirts and valances, so they were, of course, hanging off both ways.)

IRON REST
The iron rest is very large. There is enough space to place your iron upright, or you can use the middle slanted area. The slanted area has rubber pads to keep your iron from slipping. The product description says that these pads are heat resistant, but I haven't tested that resistance. Instead, I used the pad on the back side of the iron to prevent slipping and removed the other pad. You can remove the pads and easily put them back as desired because the rubber pads have a "nipple" on the back that fits into a small notch in the slanted support.

My iron is very long, and it didn't quite fit in the slanted slot. However, the slanted metal iron supports are easy to bend a little further down to make long irons fit. The metal supports are very sturdy but not as strong as welded steel, of course.

SLEEVE BOARD
The sleeve board is why I bought the ironing board in the first place. This ironing board is the only one on Amazon that I found with this feature (but not the only reason that I love this board). The product description says that the sleeve board pulls up and stows away, and I couldn't picture this process before I bought the board, but it really does--all without coming off of the board. The sleeve board is attached to the underside with two sturdy U-shaped supports of the same metal as the legs, but smaller. You slide the sleeve board out from under the ironing board, pull the sleeve board up, then slide it over the board. I used this feature for ironing the corner of a bedskirt, and it worked great! It made me so very happy that I bought this board!

HEIGHT
The height is adjustable, and you can comfortably stand or sit while ironing! I have an injury and can only stand for a short time. I love that I can sit and iron everything at one time!

OVERALL
Time will tell about the durability of the board itself. The product description does say that it is biodegradable, so that's a worry. However, with all of the other features that you can't get in any other board, I am happy to use two iron covers, one metallic, and the option of replacing the surface if needed. I am much more than pleased with this board, and I highly recommend it.

I'm weird. I know it. I love doing laundry. I love ironing. I love the smells, I love the fact that you can see a difference in the end product, I love the look of all DH's crisply ironed shirts hanging in the closet. I love doing laundry so much that I leave the ironing board out and ready all the time because I never know when I might need to iron something. Sometimes, I iron the bedsheets.

I feel satisfied that I actually finish a project. Unlike my many UFO craft projects.

I ordered this even after reading the negative reviews and decided to take a chance. I'm thrilled beyond belief with this!

I love the wide width of the board. I wasn't sure that it would really make that much of a difference, but yes it does. My DH wears size 2X (and I'm no Tinkerbell) so yes, this wider board makes a positive difference.

It's totally sturdy - not a bit wobbly or warped or anything other than superb. Sturdier than my old all-metal board.

It has an attached thing to store your iron - thus freeing up the actual ironing board.

It has an attached bar for holding hangers of ironed shirts (or whatever) and I love that, too.

L-O-V-E the little attached sleeve board! It's a bit of a challenge at first to figure out how it works because it is attached to the underside of the big board. You pull it out, slide it out from underneath, slide it sideways and up and over...er, you have to try it yourself, it's hard to explain, but easy to do. That little board is so useful for my crafty projects, too, not just sleeves.

The shipping box was fine, undamaged (go FedEx!)

The board arrived sooner than expected.

The price was excellent, plus free shipping!

The board itself was shrinkwrapped securely

I got it and was using it within 10 minutes - lol, yes, I was anxious.

UPDATE ON PRICING: I see now that the price of the board itself was lowered significantly BUT shipping is now charged at $32.xx = $10 more than I paid for mine (it had free shipping). So, don't get wigged out about the shipping price since it evens out somewhat. I notice that on lots of items on this website, the prices and shipping fluctuate even from the same seller. I guess it's experimenting with what people will pay or balk at. I also wonder that when shipping is inflated, but product price is lower than market value, it isn't something like fee avoidance (term inspired of eBay). Just worry about the bottom line no matter how they tweak pricing and shipping.
