Product Description
First In, First Out Rotation
The FIFO first in first out Can Tracker system guarantees you'll never have to deal with can expiration dates again by rotating your food from oldest to newest. Its easy-fit design also lets you store a variety of can sizes, from small tomato sauce cans to larger vegetable cans. The Can Tracker can hold up to 54 soup-size cans or 45 regular-size cans. The Can Tracker has two can rotation levels. When the top row has finished rotating, the middle track will begin to rotate through. This is great if you are looking to add an organizer to your pantry or cabinet for organizing soup or vegetable cans.

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

I have 2 complaints. The first is that the packing wasn't super great. 2 wall sections were broken in one of the sets because the box got a small hit during shipping which is going to happen. The boxes arrive in much better condition at our new house vs our old house, so I was surprised how much damage there was considering the box didn't look that bad. I had a slight dent on one corner from probably being put down a little hard. However there is excellent customer service and I got a response and replacement sections super quickly, probably the fastest response I have ever gotten from customer service. I think I got a response within 2 hours of putting in the notice on Amazon to the seller.
The second complaint is the lack of clean-up at the factory. The wall pieces have a lot of flash on them (the stuff that leaks out of the cracks in the mold during injection). Usually this stuff is cleaned up in the factory, but all 3 sets were terrible. Since I didn't really have great tools for removing flash quickly like they would at the factory, I spent probably 10 minutes per wall cleaning it up with a razor knife so I wouldn't scrape up my hand if I needed to reach into it after I put it in the pantry. I cleaned up the holes in the wall, the ledge edges, and anything else I felt was kind of sharp or prickly. Super annoying but in the end, I am glad I did it, but would be nice if I didn't have to do it.
We have wire shelves spaced exactly far enough apart to fit this in. As an added bonus, it gives a bit of support to the shelf above.
1) I had a LOT of fun putting this together.
2) Modular design provides MANY options re: width.
3) Sturdy design.
Cons:
1) Not TRULY first-in-first-out, unless ....
2) Sometimes, the can "hangs-up" when trying to remove from bottom row.
3) Won't work w/ cans larger than 15oz; dicey w/ tuna/cat-food cans.
4) About $10 overpriced, especially w/ the problems.
I bought two units. This was to take advantage of the modular design, and allow me flexibility in how I'd ultimately arrange the unit(s).
These are extremely easy to assemble, and a LOT of fun. Any kid who can build things w/ Legos can put this together. In fact, you might want one to do it for you (see below). It is also a sturdy unit. There is some flexibility at the front, but this is somewhat advantageous for loading/unloading. I immediately began "playing around" to find out its capabilities.
Back to that kid. I found the LONG dowels easy to twist, however, the SHORT dowels difficult, but do-able since I have medium sized hands. Small hands would have no problem.
Before I move on to the Cons, let me elaborate on flexibility of the modular design w/ some actual dimensions (+/- 1/8"):
1) The width for a single LONG channel, is 7"; but the width for two LONG units is only, 11.5".
2) Width for a single SHORT channel, is 6", the width for two SHORT units is, 9.25".
3) Width for 3 LONG channels (typ assembly), is 16.25", w/ 4 LONG channels at 21"
4) Width for 2 LONG & 1 SHORT channels (alt typ), is 15.25"; 3 LONG & 1 SHORT, 19.75".
5) 2 LONG & 2 SHORT, 18.75"; 3 LONG & 2 SHORT, 23.75"; 4 LONG & 2 SHORT, 28"
6) While I wasn't gonna, 5 LONG & 2 SHORT, 32.25"; 6 LONG & 1 SHORT, 33.75".
As others have stated, the middle row does NOT empty second. As the bottom row is used, cans from the TOP row will follow. ONLY when there are no cans in the top row, will the MIDDLE row move into the bottom, but USUALLY only w/ some "nudging" (can also reach into empty top row to aid the lead middle row can). If one loads from the top until both the bottom & top rows are full (the middle will remain empty) and THEN loads the middle row, it will function as FIFO, in a matter of speaking. To avoid an essentially empty channel, one could continue to load the newest cans on the top row, place the OLDEST cans in the middle (from the bottom front), then use the middle row FIRST, which is what I intend on doing IF I keep these units (not finding anything better out there).
Due to the opening on both SIDES of the bottom opening, the edge of the can can/will "catch" on the upper edge of the opening. This could easily been avoided, simply by having this area solid. While I haven't done it, I suspect that using masking/duct tape across these openings will prevent this.
While I knew by reading reviews that they wouldn't work, but just to round it out, I did play around w/ larger than 15oz cans. Most simply won't fit into the channel. A 18.5oz Progresso soup can will fit into upper row, slide properly, but can't get past the bottom row dowel. Too bad the bottom row wasn't just a little taller.
I played w/ two tuna cans. If a single can is loaded flat in either top or middle row, it slides just fine into the bottom (flat). If two cans are loaded together flat in top row (won't fit in middle row opening) they jam trying to get down back chute, but two stacked cans won't fit past dowel anyway (same thing for can on short edge at outer end chases). A can WILL fit on long edge under dowel. PERHAPS, if bottom is first stacked w/ cans on long edge, then MAYBE cans loaded flat on middle row could fall on edge into chute, to replenish bottom row. To be determined by others.
One last thought. A single unit comes w/ 12 long dowels & 3 short. A total of 6 will be left over, as noted in instructions. It would have been nice to have instead been given 9 long & 6 short. 6 will still be left over, but this allows more flexibility if two or three units are purchased, re: the number of short channels, especially if the tuna/cat-food can thing works.
