The burners are nestled in a surrounding cup that makes them more resistant to wind than most stoves in this class, and also helps to direct heat upward to concentrate it on your pot. The size and placement of the burners is ideal for serious cooking: Two 10.5" pots or pans will fit very comfortably side by side on this stove without bumping into each other or the side wind flaps (perfect if you're cooking for 4-6 people). The burner controls are very responsive and not as fiddly as on similar stoves in this class. You do still need to make small adjustments, but it's relatively easy to dial the flame down to a flickering candelight that dances around the burner on the verge of going out (for simmering), or dial it up to a roaring jet engine (for boiling). Simply put, you won't find better burner control in any other propane cook stove on the market. To get better, you'd have to go to one of the high end cooktops that people use in a house, but many/most of those require 120V AC current to work the burner and control the propane valve (household units have added safety protection to cut off the burner in the event the flame goes out). But that's a lot more expensive, offers only marginally better control at the low end of the flame settings, and a lot less portable. The Everest can and will cook whatever you need once you get familiar with it.
The stove comes with everything you need except the small green propane bottle, which you can find at almost any camping or big box store. You can also purchase an adapter hose (sold separately) to hook this up to a larger 20lb cylinder like you use on a typical grill, if desired.
One quirk: When I first opened mine, the built-in Piezo electric igniter did not work at all. I tried it a dozen times and not a hint of a spark. So I lighted it manually using a lighter. However, now the igniter works perfectly. My guess is that there is a protective coating on the ignition points that EITHER needed heat to burn away, or needed me to push the igniter a couple dozen of times to wear through. Regardless, the ignition now works perfectly and is very handy. You just turn on the gas to low, push the button, and Voila! You're cooking with gas!
Bottom line: This is the best stove you can find in this category. If you need a portable 2-burner stove with great flame control, get the Everest.
My only gripe: I got mine on Prime for $145 (which is high but a typical rate for this stove lately). Barely an hour after I got the shipping notice (about two hours after I purchased it), Amazon sent me an automated email asking if I'd like to "re-order" the stove with a Prime link to the same item for $103. Grrrrr. I'll just eat the extra cost instead of hassling with returns, but know that any price under $115 is very good for this stove, and the most common rate I found at other retailers was $140-$150.
Pros: - Wide base capable of two cast iron pans
- wide burner distributes heat for less hot spots
- quality gnurling texture on brass gas pipe for easy install and removal into stove
- burners look easily maintainable, philips head to remove what appears to be a series of layered flat and wavy set of metal doughnuts. all in all I anticipate this to be easily maintainable after inevitably being plugged with pancake batter.
- buttery silk smooth flame adjustment down to the perfect simmer or up to "is this going to melt my stove in half hot" we plan on deep frying a turkey this thanksgiving on ONE of the burners.
- ceramic sparker insulation is well recessed to prevent breaking easily
- sparker works first time almost every time,
Mixed Bag: cook surface has six points of contact, ours came a little warped so it rocks back a forth a little. but I will fix it somehow.
- Sparker button is a strait cylinder about a 1/4" diameter that sticks out 3/4" (dims are guesses) and seems to be asking to be sheered off. I'm considering screwing an almost roll cage around the edge of the button assembly (we camp a lot and I don't have the time (patience) to baby my toys
- gas hose assembly rolls around freely inside the closure, wish there was some kind of clip or attachment method to prevent that from happening..? maybe a indent in the cook surface where it could lay and the closed lid would hold it in place (Camp chef design team nudge nudge, wink, please)
- plastic exterior clips work fine, I was bummed to miss the metal clip version, but these seem to do ok. when (if) they break (winter camping) I will probably just screw a metal replacement latch on. I like the snap on design rather than a latch but I wish the clips were metal.
Con: so pretty and wonderful and nice I'm afraid I'll scratch it or spill food on it or ruin it's gleaming aura of inspiration.. seriously though, I'm not worthy.
1. It’s lightweight. This means you won’t be alone to press the piezo starter without using a second hand to hold the stove. Technically for the left side you can use a grip on the temp knob and do it one handed but not everyone will be able to do this.
2. No leveling feet. Most small stoves done have this. I Cary a few builders shims to level the stove
3. One of the clips that holds the stove closed is now broken. The remaining clip works fine and we put the stove in a carrying case where it doesn’t matter.
Pros
1. It’s lightweight!! I haven’t come across a lightweight stove that puts out this much heat. We tried a heavy 3 burner camp chef but it was too painful for camp setup so now we use that at home to cook outside.
2. High heat. I’ve deep fried quite a bit with this stove as well as other types of high heat cooking. We aren’t barbarians when we camp so we’ve cooked all kinds of great recipes.
3. Grate accommodates Dutch ovens. We have several cast iron camp Dutch ovens - the ones with the legs, and you are able to get a 12” camp Dutch ovens to sit flat in the grate.
Mine is been utterly reliable. Never fails to start and has never blown out. If you are using very thin aluminum (scout type) cookware, I think you have to be creative to get the flame low. However it achieves a better low flame than Coleman liquid fuel stoves (of which I own several and have plenty of experience). For something like a coffee pot, you can pull the pot to the side a bit for keeping it warm long term.
Top reviews from other countries
It performed beautifully while pan frying 1" steaks, cooking rice, cooking pasta, even light, and fluffy scrambled eggs. I found the temperature controls to be very responsive to which I was able to have barely any flame while simmering or have a flame thrower to make coffee quickly in the morning. The stove also cleans up nicely, and I found that food debris easily wipes off. The burners, and grill WILL become discoloured but that is due the nature of stainless steel being heated and cooled rapidly, and continuously.
I was initially apprehensive about some other reviews which stated that the plastic clasps which are used to keep the unit closed had broken. I found them fairly sturdy but could see how unessesarily rough handling of them could cause the clasps to break. Another concerning review stated that the wind blockers on the sides didn't line up, to which I found this to be a non issue with my stove but that the tabs do fit snuggly into their notches.
*Personal modifications*
I found it quite infuriating listening to the gas fitting and regulator rattle away inside the stove while stored, and driving down the highway. Putting the fitting in an old wool sock dampened the sound and has the added bonus of keeping any food debris/dirt from clogging threads on fitting.
I also added some stick on rubber pads to the bottom four corners of the stove. I feel as though this will keep the bottom paint in better shape but it helps when to keep the stove in place while pressing the stuff ignitor button. Without the pads I found that lighting the stove required two hands, holding it from the back while pressing the button.
La flama mucho más potente que cualquier Coleman. El espacio entre hornillas es grande y caben sartenes grandes sin problemas!
Súper recomendado
Separate to that, while it's normal to have to apply a bit of pressure to lock the wind breaks to the lid on these, this one feels like the measurements or latching mechanisms are way off to begin with. Returned after waiting a month, not impressed.
Looks like this one may have been repacked as well (untied cable ties, lots of tape on the box).

-It isn't small and barely fits on the end of a standard site picnic table, notice I have it askew so the tank sits properly. I might get a 5lbs tank and a hose next car camp. (I normally use backpacking small stoves and gear to hike or canoe in but for car or home this is pretty amazing)
I cooked all our meals for 2 and used 2 small tanks over 8 nights of camping. Will likely use it at home on the balcony rather than the boring electric stove inside!
