Wisconsin girl here. Cheese is our thing so good slicers is a must. This guy is light, but nice quality. Slices super thin to super thick. You adjust the dial. Doesnt tear cheese. Fast and easy to use.....whether its flimsy like mozzarella or hard like Asiago. Works on all types. I love this thing. Wish I had bought one three cheese slicers ago. Super sharp blade.
Cuts all textures of cheese. Havent tried to yet but I'm certain you could cut pepperoni, salami, etc with this as well.
I don't have issues cleaning it. I use a toothpick to clean above the blade in the grooved areas.
Great price for a great cheese cutter.

This is the best cheese slicer Ive ever found for home use. It works great on the 2lb bricks you find at the stores.. and smaller I would assume. HOWEVER, I tried it with a 5lb brick of cheese from CostCo and while it still slices fine there is just a bit of resistance that makes the brick move which makes the slice non uniform. So you what you need is this slicer with some sort of way to secure the cheese in place and yet still move it over to the thickness guide without having to unsecure it for each slice. I just used a really tight grip to hold the heavy brick in place once I realized the problem, but it would be nice to not have to do that. I have arthritis and wont be able to some day and some people might not have that kind of strength. Anyways, best slicer ive ever used but still has room for improvement.

This is much better than the hand held cutter. It is easy to use and clean. There is an adjustable part so you can change the width of your cheese slices. My only complaint is that there is no safety hook to keep it closed so when not in use tge blade sticks up in the air.

The Westmark »Fromarex« slicer works great on cheese, which was the primary feature I was looking for. The cutter has a non-stick coating and cheese does not stick to it. It looks like it would be a good vegetable slicer, too, but I haven't tried using it for that yet. I was surprised by how much I like the adjustable stop for selecting slice thickness. One of those "I never knew that I always wanted this" experiences. It has a good adjustment range and makes it easy to make consistent slices and (if you want) thin slices. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the product.

Things to consider before buying:
* The cutter is very sharp and has no safety lock - handle with care and keep away from little fingers.
* Cleaning is not easy, but it's not really difficult either. Not dishwasher safe, but can be immersed for hand washing or wiped clean without too much effort.
* Cannot be disassembled without tools. Mostly plastic construction of good quality with some metal parts. There is a metal spring, shaft, and clip ring accessible from underneath that look like they may not be stainless. You might want to consider protecting those with food-grade mineral oil.
* Looks like it might be easy to break.
* Practical, but not beautiful
* Most annoying thing: the slice that you cut off is not supported and drops onto whatever surface the slicer is on. I use mine on top of a large flexible plastic cutting mat and that works really well. Unless you use an arrangement like that, you will be slicing food directly onto your work surface.
* Again, and I can't stress this enough: be careful how you pick up and handle this thing. Especially DO NOT PICK IT UP BY THE CUTTER, which is tempting to do. That blade hungers for human flesh.

It works very well for cheese but does not cut salami which was my main reason to purchase it. The blade is very sharp and one needs to be careful with cleaning. I cut my finger just a bit when using it the first time. It appears to be well made but I would not buy it again since wire based cheese cutters are safer and easier to clean.

I have had this cheese slicer for a year and a half, and use it quite a bit. My husband smokes cheese regularly, so we need to slice up the blocks for serving. We also tried a wire slicer, which accidentally got left at a relatives's house, and we don't want it back. This is much quicker, easier, and works better! You can "dial in" the thickness you want. There is a limit to the size of block you can cut. We cut about 2" off of the big blocks, then slice them to make "cracker-sized" slices. This works perfectly for those. You do need to remove the slices after you have cut several to keep them out of the way of your new ones, or keep moving the slicer back to make room. It isn't really a big deal for us. And you definitely need to pay attention when using, cleaning, or storing it. Fingers and fingernails are no match for this blade!

I've tried several versions of cheese slicers that use a stainless steel wire. Either the wire kinks, becomes loose, or disconnects from the handle entirely.
This unit has no wire. Instead it uses a sharp blade that's attached to the arm. It's easy to clean, but be careful of the blade. It's very sharp.
It's nice to get a German Made product with German Quality at a reasonable price.
I highly recommend this Slicer.
