Need a manual, otherwise great!

Need a manual, otherwise great!
Works really well, pretty sturdy, the only thing I can recommend is that they should include directions. I had a problem taking it apart after using it, if there was a manual I could have seen that to take it apart you have to turn the inner ring a little. I've included a pic of the area I'm describing, it was easy putting it in, but the ring must have turned during use, locking it in place (like it should be). Since I didn't realize this right away I had a hard time getting it out. Otherwise, I love it!

Saw this on a Sam the cooking guy show and gave it a try. This is a game changer for mashed potatoes! Peel and cut potatoes to a size that will fit the cup, boil to fork tender, place in masher with tongs (will be hot!) and press into a bowl.
The original way, you had to really work to get a good, not lumpy product. And, with instant, runny or lumpy with chunks of unmixed dry potatoes are no more. The only drawback I can see is you have to have a pretty strong grip to do this. If you cook potatoes to the right doneness, the end result is perfection! Add butter, season, milk or heavy cream and you have great mashed potatoes after a little practice. Recommended

This potato masher is rather large. On the upside it rices a lot of potatoes in a hurry, on the down side it is too large for my wife to use. Not a big deal since she probably wouldn’t use it anyway. It is fairly well built and I think it will last a long time before I break it. Another good thing, I am getting mashed potatoes more often now and that is a big win.

I suppose you could use this as a potato ricer... but around here, this is what you call a "spaetzle machine".

Spaetzle are fresh German noodles. They go well with meat-and-gravy meals, or just on their own with cheese.

Here's mom's recipe:

About 4 cups of all purpose or bread flour (or a mixture of the two)
About 7 eggs
Milk (skim, 2% or whole) or water, to adjust consistency
Salt, white pepper, nutmeg to taste

Set a large (pasta) pot of salted water to near-boil.

Place flour into a large mixing bowl
Add about a tablespoon of salt, a half teaspoon of white pepper and a half teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg
Make a well in the flour and break the eggs into the well
Add 1/4 cup of liquid (milk or water)
Using a strong wooden cooking spoon, beat the flour and egg mixture by hand, trying to beat air into the mixture, until it forms a thick, gluey dough that sticks to the spoon. This takes about 3 or 4 minutes of beating (about 250 strokes, if you're good like mom). (The dough should be thick enough that you can pick spoonfuls of it up for one or two seconds before it starts to slowly drip down -- use extra liquid if yours is too thick, or add a bit of flour if too thin)

Place the medium or fine disk in the spaeztle machine.
Place the press over the mixing bowl, and use the spoon to put dough in the press.

Cook the spaetzle in batches.
Using both hands, hold the press over the pot of near-boiling salted water and squeeze the spaetzle into the water.
The spaetzle will sink, then rise to the top. Cook them for about 3-4 minutes, then remove with a toothed spoon to a warm pan or plate.\
You don't rinse spaetzle.
Top with some butter and more salt to taste.
(At my house, we like to take the spaetzle from the pot to a frying pan and brown them in butter... decidedly NOT German, but VERY yummy!)

This Potato Ricer is awesome for the money in my opinion. I peel the potatoes then slice them up about 1/2 and inch thickness and boil until tender. Then I put the cooked potatoes in a calendar to drain. After that just load up the ricer press and smash the potatoes into a bowl. The ricer sits on top of the bowl, which makes it really easy. The plastic does flex a little when pressing, but nothing that causes any issue. It comes with multiple styles of press plates, but I use the smallest hole one for the smoothest mashed potatoes possible. This was a great investment and I highly recommend for those looking for the smoothest creamiest mashed potatoes ever!

Was at first worried because it is plastic but after using it on not fully ripe avocados, that were still very firm, it handle the job quite well. My Girls love how it makes their potatoes look and I use it when I make mashed potatoes to guarantee no lumps. When I'm some I just take it apart and put it in the dishwasher.

A little unwieldy, but I’d guess they all are. Or at least the cheaper ones

I don’t need it that often, and it does the job well for me. Comes with three different plates, for different consistencies. Big enough to take out a grizzly bear with one swing if he tries to get between you and the taters

I'll never use a regular masher again. This takes the work out of making mashed potatoes for the holidays. Since it's so simple and the results are fantastic, I'm making mashed potatoes more often. Easy to clean and operate. Having three die to control the amount of creaminess of what ever you are mashing is great.
