Prior to this, the best slow cooker I ever used was my parents' seemingly ancient one-piece (i.e. no removable insert) stoneware "Crock Pot" from the mid-1970s adorned in a rather odd "Avocado Green" finish. I made my very first "slow cooker" recipes with that old cooker and it is still as consistent and reliable today as it was before I was born. Barring any impact that might shatter the stoneware, that old Crock Pot will likely be around longer than me!
Needless to say, I was so impressed with that original Crock Pot, that I sought out the "Crock Pot" brand exclusively when I moved out and wanted a slow cooker of my own. Unfortunately, it turned out my dad was right when he exclaimed "they just don't make them like they used to!"
Inconsistent heating and reliability problems seem to plague the newer name-brand "Crock Pots" and the more recent ones I owned were no exception. Ultimately, after my sister abducted my largest "Crock Pot" following a family potluck, I decided she could keep it. It was time for an upgrade...
That's where the Hamilton Beach "Stay or Go" cooker came into my life.
I have experienced great luck with Hamilton Beach products. They don't feel like heavy and "expensive" appliances, but their range of well-featured and reasonably priced mixers, blenders and toasters have ultimately replaced most of the Cuisinart and Oster appliances that I was using before them. In fact, my very first Hamilton Beach product, a hand mixer and mixing stand that I bought as a "refurb" for next to nothing, has outpowered and outlasted all of its siblings by several years (I still use it!).
Visiting the land of slow cookers, I noticed immediately that the reviews for the "Stay or Go" slow cookers were about as positive as a product could get, so I decided to give one a try...and I'm glad I did!
This is a simple, but well thought out slow cooker. There's no digital panel to program cooking times, but that can be a plus to reliability over the long term.
The latching lid is a wonderful feature that improves the efficiency of the system and the silicone seal is far more substantial than on the similar "Crock Pot" brand cookers with locking lids. I also really love that the lid is latched in one place, not two, and that the "arm" extends across the entire width of the glass.
The lid latch opens easily and conveniently lays back for easy access to the contents without needing to be removed. However, it is easily removed if desired, such as when cleaning or serving on a table.
The front dial control is as straightforward as it gets...""High", "Low" and "Warm". Best of all, the settings do as they say...take that, "Crock Pot"! Heating is very consistent and the warming function keeps food warm without overcooking it.
Perhaps the best feature, aside from the very nice 6-quart black stoneware insert and securely locking lid, is the addition of folding handles. Being a large bodied cooker in general, it is very nice to have handles that conveniently fold out of the way to help free up valuable cupboard space and maximize room on the table when the cooker is used as a serving dish.
All in all, this is a GREAT slow cooker and an exceptional value compared to the competition. If you want a premium quality slow cooker without a premium price tag, it's definitely hard to beat.
Highly Recommended!

The temperature settings seem fine - I use the slow setting if I'm going to be away all day and the fast setting if I want the food to be ready within 4 or 5 hours.
