Stanley Battery Charger/Maintainers

Quick and Easy Trickle/Maintainer

Stanley's battery maintainers are the ideal choice for charging batteries when your not in a rush and don't want to worry about waiting for your batteries to finish charging. These powerful 1.5 or 8 amp chargers were specifically designed with your busy lifestyle in mind. You can simply leave the charger plugged into your batteries, with three different attachments for charging, and forget about it. The BC209 and BC8S will automatically charge your battery to full charge and can be left on continuously until you are ready to unplug with no worry of damage to your battery or the charger.

Whether you have a car, truck, boat, motorcycle, RV, lawn tractor, or any other vehicle with a 12 volt battery, simply hook the Black & Decker charger / maintainer up to the battery (you have three choices on how to do this) and plug it in and walk away. It does all the thinking for you. It’s the perfect choice when the last thing you want to think about is your battery.

Both the BC209 and the BC8S are perfect for having in areas outside your house, such as the garage, a tool shed, or an external shop. It has been equipped with a sealed and conformal coated to protect against moisture, corrosion, dust and oil and with its foldable hanging hook and dual mounting bracket they can both be easily mounted anywhere there is a power source.

  • 1.5 or 8 amp charger / maintainer
  • Sealed for protection against moisture, dust and oil
  • Mounting brackets

BC209 Accessories

Battery Clamps

One of three ways to connect to your battery for charging or maintaining. Easily connects directly to the positive and negative terminals on your battery.

O-rings

A more secure way to connect to your battery if you are charging it for an extended period of time, like during the off season or permanently installed on your motorcycle.

DC Plug

If you prefer to charge / maintain your battery from inside your vehicle this is a great option. Simply use the DC plug with your vehicle’s accessory outlet. No touching your battery means your hands stay clean!

Indoor and Outdoor Charging

With the battery clamps these charges can be used to charge your batteries whether they are still connected to your vehicles or if they have been removed. You can charge your batteries right inside your garage or office space with ease and the BC209 and BC8S automatically compensates for lower voltage caused by extension cords.

Because the BC209 and the BC8S are also considered a trickle charger, it is the perfect choice for charging your motorcycle battery when not on a ride. The included O-rings can be left on your motorcycle's battery terminals and when you pull into your garage you can plug it right in, ensuring you never wake to a dead battery again before that morning ride.

Great charger, slightly large, but very versatile

Great charger, slightly large, but very versatile
This review is for the 1.5 Amp version of the Stanley BC209 Battery Maintainer.Pros:-versatile due to 1.5 Amp rating-multiple charging leads included-magnet and hook for mounting-adequate (but not excessive) cord length-no "brick" on end of cordCons:-slightly large-makes clicking noises when chargingI have previously owned several Battery Tender 021-0123 Battery Tender Junior 12V Battery Charger, which I have used for batteries on motorcycles, scooters, go-karts, boats, trolling motors and lawn mowers. I also have used it to charge dead car batteries (in a pinch). I ordered this Battery Maintainer for a motorcycle which I charge between uses as well as during winter storage.Compared to the Battery Tender Junior, this unit has twice the capacity (1.5 Amp vs. 0.75 Amp), which is likely overkill for charging a motorcycle battery but great for decreasing charge times when used on trolling motor batteries, or other batteries that get drained down in use and require actual charging (as opposed to maintenance charging). This Stanley Battery Maintainer has a standard two prong plug, which is much easier to use than the "brick" design of the Battery Tender Junior (I've broken them when the "brick" hits the ground after being yanked off the wall). There are two things of the Battery Tender Junior that I prefer over this Stanley unit: 1) Noise - the Stanley unit makes clicking noises when it charges, and I've never noticed noise from the Battery Tender Junior 2) Status - the Battery Tender Junior has an LED (Green or Red) which does various things to show the status, and there is a key on the top which shows what the various things mean (flashing, vs. solid, etc.). The Stanley Battery Maintainer has two different LEDs, but you need to refer to the manual to know what they mean.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works good, Decent build Quality, Inexpensive
Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2017
Bought BC8S from Amazon to charge my motorcycle battery for winter storage. I used the maintenance mode (2A) as the battery suggested either 1A or 2A for regular and quick charging respectively at 12V. I don't see ayou 6V option.

After about 45mins of charging period, the unit went into trickle charge mode and the green light by Charged lit up. The inbuilt fan turns on in Maintenance and Rapid Charge mode and turns off in Trickle Charge/Charged state. The fan sounds is only noticeable in a very quiet environment.

Easy usability and automatic maintenance mode. Light weight, 8"x4" and 3" thick. One button to switch modes. Wish it had a volt/ammeter, but no complaints. Comes with 3 types of connectors as mentioned. Build quality of the unit is pretty good, where the interconnects to the cable connectors feels cheaper and is tight. Doesn't fit flush.

In Maintenance mode(2A), the unit outputs 13.7V and 14.4V in Rapid Charge Mode (8A). The cable from the unit to wall socket, and from unit to battery is 5-6ft long.

I like the product and would recommend it for motorcycle and car battery charging/maintenance.
