32 oz. Hummingbird Flower Feeder

Made in USA

First Nature’s 32 oz. Hummingbird Flower Feeder’s red base with attractive yellow flowers really draws the birds and the yellow flowers discourage bees and wasps from entering the feeder. The perch provides the perfect position for birds to comfortably feed at any of the ten ports. The wide-mouth fluted reservoir is easy to fill and easy to clean. The two-part base twists apart for thorough cleaning. All parts may be washed in warm soapy water. (Do not put any parts of this feeder in a dishwasher.) We recommend you use First Nature’s Hummingbird Nectar Concentrate which you can easily mix right in the reservoir.

Easy to Clean. Hummingbirds (and Chickadees) Like It!
Yes! Will purchase another unit, and maybe even a couple of presents. From the top down, well designed. Built-in ant guard (moat) so far has worked all summer. Chickadees? Their own private hydration station. They perch on the edge of the moat for a quick drink before the hummingbird in charge chases them off!Made in the USA. (Not dishwasher safe.) Completely disassembles although a firm twisting pressure is required to separate the base but it gets easier each time. Every other day during the hottest of summer, I remove the bottle and hold a running garden hose into the middle of the base forcing water through and out of all nectar holes. If water does not shoot out the hole(s), then the culprit was a yellow jacket wasp that got stuck despite the bee guard. What's really nice, the bee guards snap off to remove the stuck insect :-(Once a week complete disassembly and cleaning with an old toothbrush has kept it in excellent condition all summer. Some online forums indicate not to use any type of soap because the hummingbirds can taste it. So far though toothbrush and running water have kept it clean. The capacity of the nectar bottle is huge! More than my ‘small family’ needs. It appears I have only two or three hummingbirds this year and they don't drink that much each day so the process has been to only fill about a half inch. The feeder is hung in partial shade, next to some native wildflowers like bee balm, zinnias, and trumpet vine - at least they get a variety!I use a homemade mixture of half a cup of sugar to 2 cups of water in a mason canning jar stored in the refrigerator throughout the week. I find with the clear liquid it is easy to tell when it gets cloudy in order to replace it, something not possible using the store-bought red-colored mixes.Compared to other feeders in the past, this certainly has been the easiest to clean and maintain. It would be nice if the nectar bottle was glass, thinking that with time the plastic would (will) cloud up making it more difficult to tell when it's time to replace the nectar. Will update during the second year of use if there are any changes. It would also be nice if a couple extra yellow bee guards were included, since the first time washing one almost went down the kitchen sink! All cleaning is done outdoors from that point on! Used a fingernail under each side of the bee guard to pull straight up to avoid cracking. The product is a good value and will be a great first feeder for individuals. I will get a second one next year.

I bought this feeder because it looked easy to clean and it was plastic. It is wide enough for a bottle brush to clean the inside and it will not break when the squirrels knock it off the tree. It was a great purchase for me.
Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2020
This is still fairly new to me so I can't say about longterm sturdiness, but it seems to be well constructed, is very easy to clean and fill, and attracts lots of hummingbirds. I used nylon twine soaked in oil to discourage ants and also put a little oil in the ant moat. We have a lot of ants but none of them have reached the feeder. I'd fill this only maybe 10-20% full at first so the birds have a chance to empty it before the nectar spoils. Once you have a lot of traffic at the feeder, you can fill it more. Change it often so it doesn't spoil. The hotter it is, the faster it spoils. As with many feeders, this one eventually attracted bees. They say you can just move it a few feet away and perhaps distract the bees with another feeder or put bee guards on the ports or remove the yellow flowers and bees like yellow. I haven't tried any of those yet as the bees are there less than the birds. I did notice that when the nectar ran out, a bee was going between the feeder and my son's shirt that was hanging nearby to dry. It has a large round red embroidered emblem with yellow letters on it and the shirt is black. So, the bee was basically going between two things that looked similar to it and not getting any nectar. I hope that discourages the bees. I'll move the feeder and see if that helps. Because I also had a bully who was chasing off other birds, I was going to get another feeder anyway as that's supposed to help. I cut off the end of the twine that inadvertently formed a perch for the lightweight hummers. That helped as it was much more work for the bully to defend the feeder if he had to sit on the lime tree ten feet away between aerial competitions for the feeder. I'm going to let it sit dry for several days and then move it, hoping that helps with bees and perhaps boring the bully a little. We have a ton of hummers around here and I planned to get more feeders and put out some hummer-friendly plants for them to hide in. But, I'm probably going to move soon so will start again when I move. I'd just say that this is inexpensive and holds a ton of nectar so it's a good deal, but if you don't have a ton of hummers, it might be bigger than what you need. It's a good one, so you can just fill it a little and be fine. Or, get a smaller one if you want. In hot climates, you'd need a lot of hummers to empty it before it spoils, but some people have that. I think I would have that here too if I made my little hummingbird garden as planned.
Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2023
The design is good and the size is good but it can be difficult to take a part. After using the sugar makes the bottom sticky and it is difficult to undue the bottom. The plastic is thin and probably won't last very long. In spite of these problems, I would probably buy it again because of the price and the size are good. One more thing make sure the bottom is locked before turning right side up or you will lose all your sugar water.

Took them about a week to use it. But they are now. I’ve got 3 from this company now. It seems to keep the wasps out. They do like it. Good feeder. Fast easy to clean. This is a feeder I can honestly recommend. Although i must say. It’s a bit stiff at first. It loosen up in time.
