I used the true square test by drawing a line perpendicular to the base of the ruler on a manufactured edge of my table on both sides of my ruler (flipped) along total 6 in. The superimposed lines had about 1 mm difference at the end of the line proximal to base of the ruler. I was able to make a square with a laser printer with a true 90 deg angles using same test. Only good for small projects.

Edit:
There's some wiggle room on the screw lock and track on the ruler, just press the ruler against the locking mechanism and it's actually truly square so very trustworthy!
