Prince Lionheart Soft Booster Seat

We got tired of food-caked, germ-laden booster seats at restaurants, so we started bringing our own. This one is a soft spot to give squirmy legs and wandering bottoms a place at the table until they’re ready to fly solo. ..and it looks good too. Perfect for meal time, TV time, or anytime. It is waterproof, portable and slip-resistant, so perfect for outdoor use too. The soft booster is made of light density foam for comfort. The soft foam protects furniture from scratches and easily wipes clean. What more could you want? Everyone deserves a seat at the table. Even a rambunctious 3 year old.

Who We Are:

Prince Lionheart is a family-owned and operated business that was started by our parents in 1973 in our grandparents’ garage. As busy parents ourselves, we know the importance of being able to rely on products that do what they say they’ll do. As busy parents, we appreciate products that do what they say they’ll do and do it well. As busy parents and stewards of Prince Lionheart, we strive to make products that do what they do well, but that also wow. ‘Cause 'wows' enhance our lives with our families: whether it’s a durable dishwasher basket that is built to last until the kids are grown and gone, or an heirloom toy that can be enjoyed by your kids’ kids, or a product that allows you to share a 'moment' with your child that could become your (or his) favorite part of the day, or a product that makes an otherwise mundane activity easier and faster so you can engage and create lasting memories with your child in the time you saved. Whatever it is, we strive to ensure every one of our products delivers the very best in their category and enhances life with your family before we call it a day and head home to ours.

Comparison to Cooshee Classic
***UPDATE 10/2017***Upgrading from 3 starsHaving used this chair for over 2 years now (it is now kid #4's chair), my opinion of this chair has grown a bit. Going off my quick list from the original review:1) there is absolutely no odor anymore2) I have never had any hint of a problem with it sliding around or wanting to fall off, so while I still hold that the bottom of the chair has less substance that it could, I have to concede that it is enough3) ... no change here--I still think the Cooshee feels better to the touch4) I don't know what was originally mashed into the texture of the chair, but for most things, it cleans up just fine. Also, I would like to point out that kid #3 hasn't been able to make a dent in this thing--it is still holding up very well and is still practically in a like-new condition. I cannot say the same for the Cooshee which has been taped, glued, and taped again, but to no avail and now only a fragment of the side remains.Another note: although kid #3 was originally assigned to this chair and does still sit in it from time to time, kid #4 routinely chooses this one over the Cooshee when presented with the choice. That may just be because the Cooshee is all torn up on the sides, but it also proves that as a chair, it is perfectly comfortable to little bottoms! I was going to make this a 4 star review simply because I do still like the Cooshee better and if *I* was going to sit in one or the other, I would choose the Cooshee, but with kid #4's endorsement, I went ahead and gave it all 5 stars.Revised summary: if you have the cash and a gentle kid, the Cooshee is still the better chair, but if you want to save some money and/or if you have a kid who is hard on things, then this PL is the better choice.***************************ORIGINAL REVIEW:We've had a "Cooshee Classic" for years now. It is now seating it's 3rd kid and we have LOVED it--best "high chair" solution we have found for any kid that is about 1 or 2 to about 3 or 4 years (depending on how tall your kids are).Unfortunately, "kid #3" is... shall we say, very hard on all his belongings. We were surprised when our Cooshee's side got ripped--we had thought it would last forever, but then when we thought about all the other things kid #3 has destroyed, we were a little less surprised. At any rate, kid #3 is still short enough that he'll be needing a booster for a bit longer and kid #4 has just decided that she refuses to be the only one in a high chair--she wants to sit in a normal chair like the rest of us. "OK," I thought, "I suppose I can understand that" and I headed over to Amazon to get another Cooshee..."$50??!"Yes, that's right--a real, BabySmart brand Cooshie is about $50 which is quite a bit more than I had remembered or guessed it would be, seeing as it's essentially just a chunk of foam. I started to explore my options.I saw that on a certain online auction site, you could get a used Cooshie for about 1/2 that (at least, that was true when I was doing my searches), or for roughly the same price, I could get this "Prince Lionheart", Cooshee knock-off brand new here at Amazon. I went with my second choice-partly because I like Amazon and partly because I like new. Now I'm thinking I should have gone with the auction site (no negative reflections on Amazon--this is purely based on the product itself). Here's why...For those of you who like the short version, the Cooshee:1) smells better2) is more stable3) feels better to the touch4) is easier to cleanFor those of you who like details:So, yeah--the first thing I noticed when I took it out of its bag was that this thing smelled awful. Like chemicals. Holy cow! Fortunately, after washing it was warm, soapy water and leaving it out in the hot summer sun all day, *most* of the smell disappeared. Relief.I've attached 4 pictures to help illustrate my next points.Let's start with the one where we are looking at both seats side by side. It appears they are nearly identical in size and shape and, indeed, they are very close. A toddler sitting in either chair will be boosted about the same height and will have ample room for their little diapered bums to sit comfortably. Note that the texture of the chairs is different. I'll talk more about that later, too.Next, observe the picture of the underside of the chairs. Again, the size and shape looks very close. You can see that the Cooshee is a solid piece of foam with little "suction cups" cut into it for better "traction" on smooth chairs (and it actually works, too). Prince Lionheart decided to cut manufacturing costs by leaving a bunch of empty spaces--which is fine, it's stiff enough that it doesn't really need to be filled in. However, it is noteworthy that material is actually a bit slippery, so they had to put those orange dots on--that's where the friction is that will keep the booster from sliding off the host chair. I personally found those 3 pegs sufficient, but only just barely. I would have really liked it if they had doubled the number of those pegs for better stability. The next picture shows my hand squeezing the chairs. You can see that the Cooshee is more squishy than the PL is, but that both are at least a bit squishy. I don't know if that's really an important point or not--since the bottom of the Cooshee is solid foam, and since kids are so light, they aren't going to be *squishing* down into either one. HOWEVER, you can also see that the texture of the material is different. Both feel smooth, but the PL is much smoother (at least on the arm and back--the seat part is textured). You can't tell by looking at a picture, but it is also a bit slippery and leaves sort of a slippery residue on your hand if you touch it too much. I'm hoping that washes off over time, but I certainly don't like it for now. As I was mentioning before, the fact that the material the PL is made of is slippery means they have to add friction points to the bottom, but the Cooshee did not need to do that because although it is smooth, it isn't at all slippery.Which brings us to the last picture: the texture of the seating area. Obviously, a slippery chair would not be good for little kids to sit in, so they textured this thing up on the seat. Personally, I don't like the way it feels to touch, but just about as importantly, it's harder to clean. Little bits of food get mashed down into the texture and then it's very hard to get it back out. You can see some in the picture I've included. It's been scrubbed with a dishrag, but I think we'll need a stiff-bristle brush to get that out.The Cooshee Classic is clearly a superior product and arguably worth the extra cost. NOTE, however, that BabySmart doesn't appear to sell Cooshee Classic anymore--they have changed the design to the "Hybak" model. I don't know if this new model is as good as (or better than) the classic--hopefully someone else can fill us in there. However, if you're on a budget, the PL is probably good enough, though I'd recommend that you first check that auction site and see if you can't get a used Cooshee Classic, instead.
