Did everything I had hoped it would.
About 3 months ago I stepped in a whole and wobbled spraining the in and outside of my ankle, then I lost all balance and fell forward breaking bones on the top of my foot and sprained the high ankle. For three months my foot and ankle swelled every day. Since the day I started wearing this brace I have had no swelling. My foot and ankle are supported in four different ways. I highly recommend this brace for anyone with multiple sprains or chronic ankle instability. While my foot bones were still broken I wouldn’t have been able to wear it, too snug on the arch for then I think, but now it is perfect. I thank God for how much comfort and relief it has brought me😊

Style: TriLok Ankle BraceSize: MediumVerified Purchase
After my very active and athletic 12 year old severely sprained his ankle on a bad landing from a layup, I was eager to get him off the crutches (once I finally took him to get X-rays almost a week later after a very colorful ankle made me question whether or not my 17 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist had failed me in assuring myself it was not fractured...it was not). I have recommended and been pleased with several off the shelf ankle braces with patients and athletes over the years, all of which were re-scrutinized when it was my son that was injured (why you should never treat family!). He has really high arches and custom orthotics and the severity of his sprain really had me concerned about being able to adequately stabilize his ankle AND get him off the crutches in a timely manner in order to avoid secondary issues with immobility of his ankle (he could move it up and down with very little discomfort, but had landed on the outside of his ankle, stretching all of the ligament structure). I liked the compression of this brace and the very thorough strapping abilities, so I decided to give it a try. He was able to read the directions and apply the brace himself. The first try took 2-3 minutes, the second time took less than a minute. The brace is comfortable for him, which I was worried about with his high arches, and it offers CRAZY good medial/lateral (side to side) support, but still allows for sufficient up and down ankle movement. I could hardly generate any side to side movement by passively trying to move his ankle in this brace=very impressive! By the time he took the brace off 2-3 hours after the initial use, his lingering swelling had almost disappeared. 2 days later, I was having to explain to him why he could not play in his weekend basketball games. I have my criterion for letting him return to play basketball, but am amazed at how well this brace performs and how quickly he transitioned off the crutches. This brace is well worth the money and fits up to 2 subsequent shoe sizes (he hasn't hit his growth spurt yet and plays several sports), it fits in his shoe (Nike Free) with his orthotic, it's comfortable, and it does exactly what he needs it to do. As a mom and as a physical therapist, I couldn't be happier with this brace.

Editing to add another star and more comments. The first review was for a medium which was too tight. Even though I wear a size 9 1/2 shoe on my left foot, my right foot is much wider and has has two surgeries. So, large it is. The new large one fits better, and I've become more adept at the straps. I do think a better design would be specific for right foot vs. left foot and rolling in vs. rolling out. The product will work in all four situations but you've got to wrap the straps differently for each situation, which is, I think, the reason for all the maddening Velcro that grab each other and won't let go. However, once it's on, it feels good and I don't have to take it off except to shower. I feel so, so much better. I should have done this years ago.

I've been needing an ankle brace for years, but didn't realize it. My right ankle rolls inward, it is very painful, has caused a bunion that required surgery, but, while the surgery cured the bunion, it made my foot stability much worse. Doctors did not want to give me an ankle brace, because I have diabetes, but finally, I said "enough, I can't take this anymore". Started researching, looking for a brace that would not cause abrasions. I just started wearing the TriLok today, and already am pleased with it. It is very comfortable and supportive. I feel less pain already. Unfortunately, due to the damage caused by two foot surgeries, I should have ordered a large, instead of a medium. The length is fine, the width is not. If your foot is wide, consider a larger size. Also, the Velcro straps have pluses and minuses. Plus, very adjustable. You can use the TriLok on either the left or right foot, you can strap it to keep your foot from rollng inward or outward. Minus, they are a bear to put on. My husband, an engineer, could not figure it out from the diagrams on the package. I watched a Youtube video several times, make sure you watch the one for left or right, medial or lateral, whatever configuration you need. I may change the rating to a five, right now I am grumpy because all the Velcro patches keep sticking to each other.

I bought this because of all the reviews said it was the best brace. It is actually the WORST brace ever. There are 3 different straps you have to figure out. The directions for use are HORRIBLE! The pictures do not match the product and are not clear as to where these straps are supposed to go. There's a foot sleeve with two straps and also a cloth folding piece. Plus another strap that wraps up high around your calf! Then another black strap and white strap...all with velcro stuff and no indication as to CLEARLY where to attach, strap, wrap, and velcro all these dangling straps....which get caught on each other because of the fabric and velcro.
Then when I get it on, it punches and rubs my foot and skin causing the skin to break open and bleed.
Just get a $20 or $30 ankle brace and SAVE your MONEY, FRUSTRATION, and TIME!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for PTTD
Reviewed in Canada on June 29, 2017
Style: TriLok Ankle BraceSize: MediumVerified Purchase
After reading many, many reviews, I decided that I would try this product even though it is pricey. I have been suffering with PTTD for the past 5 weeks. It has seriously impacted my mobility and stopped my activities. My left ankle is pronated and the pain has been ridiculous (and I am not a wimp!) I have been wearing the TriLok brace for 6 days, and I am now completely sold on it! I have gone from barely being able to walk, to walking almost without a limp.
I had read that it was really difficult to put on. I watched the video on youtube on how to wear it and it was very simple! The brace consists of 3 different pieces, so just pause after each segment until you have mastered each part.
I find the brace comfortable, not too hot and very supportive. I finally feel like I am walking straight again. I wear a women's 9.5 shoe with a healthy calf size. I ordered a medium, which was the recommended size, even though many reviews said to size up. The reason I did this was because Trilock maintains it will give you "medical grade compression". A little squeezing sounded okay to me after the pain I have been in! The brace size is perfect. You can adjust how tightly you secure the top velcro if you find it too tight. It took a few tries of how to get it to optimal comfort since there are many areas to adjust, but still not a problem. Don't be intimidated by it, keep at it until you find your sweet spot!
And speaking of sweet spots, I am going to golf for the first time since my injury (which was simply overuse, not trauma). After a few tentative swings at home, I feel supported by the brace and knowing that it will keep my tendon lifted, although I will not be walking the course yet.
If you are on the fence about shelling out $150 for the TriLok brace, I recommend that you do it. Nothing else I have tried has worked even remotely as well as this. It is well made, easy to wear and will definitely help with your foot pain from PTTD.

Item received through recently available Next Day delivery in my area. This was an urgent medical need and pleased to have the pleasant courier bring it to my door on a Sunday! Instant relief from plantar fasciitis, Acquilles heel tendonitis, and peroneal tendon damage. As to the help the product offers, other customers will benefit from videos in its website trilokanklebrace.com. Choose the injury and a different video helps to select which parts should be used. The fit is a tricky issue, because the measuring chart shows a bare foot to measure and find one's size, but the picture on the box shows a sock worn. The Medium I ordered is a snug fit, with room to insert one finger on the back of the calf, but no room to insert over a thick sock because the main part is a one piece and would not go over a regular sock, and has to be snug n order to help with the plantar fasciitis and high arch. Maybe a thin type of sock will fit. Am considering ordering a Large size for the Left ankle that has the chronic (due to inherited defective collagen gene) condition and considerable swelling. The Medium then can go on the Right ankle that has milder swelling. I like the soft and plush feel of the inside on the main part even over a barefoot. This is a versatile product, wear the main piece, two pieces, or three pieces.
