Product Description
Original 9" Stool Dimensions: 13.25"D × 21"W × 9.63"H. Sizing Tips: How to Pick Your Squatty Potty. (1) By Toilet Type: The 9" Squatty Potty Original Toilet Stool is designed for a comfort toilet (16.5–18" from floor to the top of the bowl). If you have a 14–16" standard toilet (measured from the floor to the top of the toilet bowl), then you may want the 9" stool instead. (2) For Advanced Squatters: You may prefer the 9" stool, which raises your feet 9" off the floor. People who are limber and comfortable in a full squat, or have shorter legs, will find the 9" stool easy to use. (3) For Large Households: The 7" Original Toilet Stool is sized for most squatters. If you have people of varied heights using the same bathroom, you might consider the Adjustable 2.0 Stool, which features a 7" stool with a riser you can add to make it a 9" stool. We also offer kid-sized stools called Potty Pets.

I was excited after learning how the correct posture, that using Squatty Potty would provide, may be a huge help to my son... And frankly even after years of drinking gritty fiber drinks, my pooping was neither easy nor often and certainly was not " amazing " as described in reviews by people who use the Squatty Potty. I was hopeful that I would benifit from this device also.
USING THE POTTY: The Squatty Potty gave my son the ability to easily climb up on the potty, allowing his feet to rest comfortably on top of the Squatty Potty (which I will refer to as "SP"). It made it easier for him to poop from day one, and now most days, he goes multiple times a day. It has made him more sure of himself and he now goes to the potty without help. I have saw improvements in my ability to go & I also feel that using the "SP" allows my body to get rid of ALL the waste it needs to, much easier and more efficiently than before.
When the Squatty Potty arrived, it came in a plain brown box without indication of the contents. After unboxing I was pleased with the construction of the item, it is made of a durable thick white plastic. The top has a textured area for your feet and gripping rubber pads on the bottom to prevent sliding while in use. I ordered the 9" model instead of the 7", due to toilet height and the fact that I am 5 foot 6" and my son is 5 years old. The height has worked perfect and is comfortable to use. The feature I love the most is the shape. This allows me to slide it under the potty and its out of the way, yet still right there where it is needed. The width of the base is perfect, not too wide for a child, but stable enough for an adult without taking up too much floor space. It is strong enough to hold the weight of someone who is 190 lbs with no give in the materials strength. It cleans up well, with just soap and water and retains the same new look, even after a year of use. The only issue I have with the Squatty Potty, now my Son doesn't want to use a potty without one. It has forced both my mom and grandmother to get one for their own homes, just for my son to use when visiting, but have since recognized the benefits of using it also. It is a wonderful product and I definitely would recomend this product to a friend and have many times.
One small negative is the chimney effect. If your bottom sealed with the toilet seat before, it won't any more because you're squatting, so you may get more of a direct waft than you're used to. As a negative this is minor, not worth knocking off any stars but worth mentioning in case you're particularly squeamish. Or prone to launching splashers, in which case you may want to lean back a bit.
BUT - and this is why we ended up returning it - the footprint is really rather large. I don't mean the height: the 9" height was fine for us (our toilet is a "comfort height" - about 16" to the bottom of the bowl rim). But the Squatty Potty is a fairly bulky thing. Our house has small bathrooms by today's standards. Our master bathroom - a 3/4 bath - measures 8' 5" by 4' 4", including the shower enclosure.
HERE ARE SOME KEY MEASUREMENTS NOT IN THE DESCRIPTION: The Squatty Potty extends from your toilet pedestal about 3-1/2" in front and about 6" on each side. Note that your toilet pedestal is probably significantly smaller than the bowl dimensions. But, even so, in our bathroom, we'd have to get rid of the wastebasket and scale, which live one atop the other between the toilet and the cabinet. Plus, with two of us getting ready in the morning or evening, we found the added item underfoot was cumbersome: we need every half-inch of footing we can get. In our main bathroom, the bigger full bath, with the Squatty Potty in "storage mode" (tucked as far into the pedestal as possible), the bathroom door whacks into it and it hinders access to the bath.
So we reluctantly gave up on the Squatty Potty. But not on squatting!
Here's a possible solution for small bathrooms! (I'm a genius!) Buy three small wastebaskets that:
(a) fit your space and height needs and
(b) nest together and
(c) are stable when turned upside-down.
Use the top one as a wastebasket. Drill holes in the bottoms of the other two to make it easier to separate them while on sitting on the toilet. When the need arises, pull off the bottom two containers and invert them for instant squat footrests, conveniently reached, easily positioned, and taking up exactly zero room in a tiny bathroom. I even found this homemade solution to be more-convenient for, um, leaning forward to wipe. I bought three made-in-the-USA wastebaskets at Walmart for about a buck apiece. They're 1.5-gallon capacity, 10.13" x 7.5" x 9.75". They're about 9 3/4" high, but in use they're not noticeably higher than the 9" Squatty Potty. If you need the 7" height, or any other height really, I saw other nesting containers and tubs there of every dimension. Simply place your existing wastebasket inside two nested storage containers of the height you want: just make sure the containers fit your space and your wastebasket fits inside them. Either way, this is also a relatively stealthy solution, so there's nothing to hide or move when guests come over.
IMPORTANT! Note that you shouldn't stand or even put any appreciable weight on an inverted trash can or storage bin, so if you need a weight-bearing solution AND you have a small bathroom you'll need to think up something else. (You can do it! I bet you're a genius too!)
