Worth Its Weight In GOLD !!!
I used to use a post hole clam shell digger for many years in my garden. I'm 64 years old and it's very laboring now making 2' deep holes for 200 tomato plants and 6" deep holes for 275 hot and sweet peppers. I make my own tomato puree for sauce as well as making bottled hot sauces. I looked at battery versions of augers but they seem to die out from the reviews. I didn't want a gas model that would probably send me to the E.R. This was the most reasonably priced and had enough power to get the job done. Also the 4" bit was the perfect size for my plants. I drilled 100 two foot deep holes in about 1 hour and the soil was not tilled at all !! I would never be able to do that with the post hole digger. One suggestion: Hold the auger securely at arms length away from your body. I found out the hard way when it did catch a root and the handle hit the inside of my thigh. It could have been worse of course !! The nice feature if this unit is the fact that you can "Jog It" so it drills a little deeper slowly every time you hit and release the switch. Once you get used to it, it's really easy. Listen, this is one of the best purchases I've made on Amazon in many years.
