I ordered it from Amazon and it arrived very fast. The price was also cheaper than other places. It came in a nice package with a protective case and a user manual. It is very durable and has a long battery life.
My child loves this calculator and uses it for math, physics, chemistry, and engineering classes. It helps him to solve problems quickly and accurately. He says it is the best calculator he ever had.
I am very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend this calculator to anyone who needs a scientific calculator for school and beyond. It is a high-quality product that is worth every penny. You will not regret buying it.
Some features/qualities I love:
- The user interface is excellent. Much better than TI. I am faster on my calculator than all my friends with their expensive graphers. I can switch my calculator from real<-->complex or radians<-->degrees modes in two keystrokes.
- The price. super cheap.
- The capability. I can do matrix operations*, Phasor calculations, integration/derivation, vector math, series, base-10 to binary (or hex, oct, base-n), equation solver, etc.
- There is a library of 40 scientific constants. This was a life saver in modern physics when calculations involved 10+ different variables (masses and radii of different atomic particles, Planck's constant, speed of light, permittivity of vacuum, Bohr radius, Rydberg constant, electronvolt conversions) I probably saved 15 minutes of calculator entry time on the final exam because of this library. Physics students should have this.
- The battery life. My battery is still going strong, but more importantly, I'm never paranoid it will die in the middle of an exam because it has a little photovoltaic cell at the top.
- The unit conversions: There are 40 common unit conversions in a library. This is useful for all engineering classes in the U.S. (text books have half the examples in metric, and half in imperial units) but especially thermodynamics and fluids.
-The output: When the output is a rational number, the calculator gives you the fractional form. This is great for derivations. One keystroke toggles between decimal and fraction. Alternatively, you can press the "Eng" button to get scientific notation in a multiple of 10^3. If i'm doing a problem with pressure (Pa) and I get the answer 26511900 Pa, one press of the Eng button tells me 26.5119x10^6. That 10^6 is my unit conversion (MPa) and the 26.5 is my answer.
Some things I wish it did better:
- * Matrix math is limited to 3x3 matrices. This is a bummer. Often I need at least 4x4 for simple FEA problems.
- when entering a really long calculation with ~90 characters, the entry gets slow (the memory is limited)
Schools love to push the TI as the standard, but that does not mean it is the best calculator. I was a lifelong TI user until I bought this Casio. I only break out my TI to do big matrices. I can attest that this Casio has improved my experience in every class I have taken since buying it.
Lightweight, slim, sturdy, and buttons are easy to press (few to no typos). I had this calculator 10 years ago in middle school but unfortunately it got stolen .. needed an NCEES compliant calc for my FE exam, and was thrilled that this made the cut to have an excuse to buy this again.
Giving 5 stars as I’m sure it’s a fluke, but when I got the calculator it didn’t turn on, and apparently the battery had oxidized and warped. Thankfully it didn’t damage the calculator, I only spent $5 to get a new LR44 (the 357/303’s work just fine if anyone for some reason has this problem).
To any fellow exam takers good luck, this is the one you want :)

It has a great combination of built in functions, constants and conversions. Personally, I prefer using HP calculators so I already had an HP 35S, but I bought a TI-36X as well as this Casio. After a lot of studying and test taking I found that I much preferred the Casio for working on those big exams. All three are good calculators, but I particularly like being able to go back and verify/fix my calculations by just pushing the up arrow and being able to double check my work.
Some minor points of comparison. The markings on the Casio are much easier to read than on the TI-36x. I really didn't find the TI to be quite as user friendly and it's harder to remember how to use some of its advanced functions. The Casio is just much more user friendly.
Compared to the HP, I prefer the HPs RPN notation and it has a lot of flexibility since it does allow you to program equations into it, but since it is battery powered, I've found myself losing my programmed equations while having to change batteries etc... For the types of questions on the PE and FE, I found that I wasn't always confident that I didn't make a mistake as I entered and calculated some of the complicated equations. The Casio is nice because it is easy to read the display as you are entering equations and since it shows them as equations (e.g. raising something to a power actually puts the power in as a superscript) I don't find myself second guessing myself.
The way that operations like vectors, matrices etc... are arranged in menus is also very useful in the Casio and works well for me since I don't use those functions often, but I want to be able to use them easily when I do need them. Both the HP and the TI are good calculators and I will probably keep using the HP35S at work and in non-test situations, but I actually bought a second Casio before taking the PE exam so that I would have a back-up to my original one if necessary.
I would highly recommend a couple of these calculators for anyone taking the PE or FE exams. If you have time to familiarize yourself with it, the HP35s can also be useful because you can program it a bit, but I think the Casio is the best option for being your main workhorse in those exams.

TLDR:
This is by far the best calculator I’ve had, it’s super easy to use and a great experience to use. It’s really nice to have the save functions (A, B, C, and so on). The cover is good to have as well, with extra functions on it. It’s accepted in most tests and exams (only one I wasn’t able to use t for was accounting, where we were only allowed a simple addition, multiplication, subtraction and divisions calculator). The keys are super tactile really nice to type and use. Overall, if you don’t lose this one, it will be a companion for many years!
Before going into pros and cons, I wanted to note that a friend of mine saw me using this and how easy and straight forward I solved finance problems in seconds (mind you I have used it for a long time, so it is second nature for me) he asked me to order one for him to replace his calculator! So I think that speaks wonders on how impressive and handy this calculator is! After all, it’s the best calculator I own!
Pros:
- Good screen. I have had no issues reading this screen both indoors and out (after exams discussing questions) in all kinds of light scenarios.
- Great calculator. I owned many prior to buying this and never had any issues with them! They were super long lasting, the only time I needed to replace them was when I misplaced them or a friend I loaned it to lost it!
- Good build. This is made with plastic, but let me tell you it is not by any means cheap feeling/looking. I’ve really enjoying using it and it feels great I the hand in terms of size.
- Super easy to use. This is one of the few calcs that has a fraction function (see photo - ps: equation in photo is [(12/6)/6]). This makes many equations super easy to use. Also, the alpha save function allows you to carry exact answers in further calculations, super handy!
- Long lasting battery. Like I said, I never needed to replace any so as far as I’m concerned, with regular everyday use this battery is super long lasting!
- Great price. In terms of function per dollar, I have not found any better replacements for this.
Cons:
- Not a graphing calculator. For my engineering friends, this won’t fit your needs... but that’s more on you needing more of a calculator than the average person, not the calculator itself!
- It’s so good... I’ve had a few friends borrow some of my older ones and they got ‘lost’... only a few months later to see them use it. So be aware! This may be taken if you don’t keep an eye on it... for me this was a pro - it let me know who my true friends are! No real friend will steal from you.
I hope my review was helpful for you to know if this calculator is a good fit for your needs!

train yourself on how to use this type of calculator. Also Casio has a website where you can load the face of the
calculator on your computer screen giving you an opportunity to practice.
Also lots of Maths help on U tube to use this as a school calculator. Try Hegarty Maths or other sites.
Nice safe case to be kept in, and also dual powered Solar and battery.
