Surprising Value for the Price, Suitable for Professional Use
This is an excellent trombone, speaking as an experienced semi-professional player who has recorded albums in studio and a former band director of a military band. This is a large bore instrument which I find desirable for professional use. Trombone bores generally come in three sizes: small bore, medium bore, and large bore. The smaller the bore, the less breath is required, resulting in an instrument that is easier to play. A small bore is ideal for a beginning student. A medium bore is an intermediate, or step up trombone, also for student use. A large bore (like the Prelude) requires more breath and produces a richer tone than either a small bore or medium bore and with great volume. As an owner of this model and owner of other trombones of various sizes, this one satisfies my needs in professional events. I will say the mouthpiece that comes with this horn (VB 6 1/2 AL) is more appropriate for students, so I purchased a professional Denis Wick 5AL Heavytop mouthpiece to go with this horn which allows me to perform well in my city orchestra, top 40 band I am the leader of and in my studio sessions.Likes:-Pro size large bore for under $1,000-Supported by Conn-Selmer/Vincent Bach Corp.Dislikes:-Mouthpiece is a student 6 1/2 AL. I purchased a Denis Wick 5AL Heavytop for pro style playing.
