Microsoft Wedge Touch Mouse
Compact for ultimate portabilityOffers Ultimate Portability
The stylish, minimalist design of the Wedge Touch Mouse will allow you to be productive anytime, anywhere in Windows 7 and Windows 8. Wedge Touch Mouse works great with Windows 8 and the new horizontal scrolling experience on the Start Screen and in documents.
Wedge Touch Mouse features a touch sensitive surface that responds to one finger touches differently depending on where they contact the surface. Stroke with one finger vertically or horizontally to scroll. Press your left finger for "Left click". Press your right finger, while slightly lifting your left finger, for "Right click".
Wedge Touch Mouse is the perfect companion for your laptop or Windows 8 tablet when you're on the go.
Bluetooth technology means no clutter
Not only is Wedge Touch Mouse compact, it doesn't come with cables or USB transceivers. Just turn it on and connect it to your Bluetooth-enabled laptop or tablet. Additionally, BlueTrack technology means it tracks on virtually any surface, whether you're at a conference or a coffee shop.
Conserves battery power
Wedge Touch Mouse even knows how to conserve energy. When your PC or tablet is shut down or hibernating, the mouse goes into "Backpack Mode." You can throw it into your bag and not worry if you turned it off because it senses that it no longer needs to be on.
Four-Way Touch Scrolling
- Scroll vertically AND horizontally
- Flick up, down, and side to side to navigate
- Scroll slowly with a gentle swipe

I did indeed run into the much complained-about problems of the mouse being laggy/jumpy and having it disconnect frequently on Windows 8.1 After fixing it on 8.1, the problems resurfaced after upgrading to Windows 10 a couple of months later, but the same fixes worked. Fixing the problems had nothing to do with the mouse itself. My computer's settings allowed turning off wireless devices (resulting in disconnects) and putting devices into low power modes (resulting in laggy/jumpy behavior). I had to make changes in two different places to get rid of the problems:
1. In device manager, set wireless/bluetooth device power settings so that they won't shut off to save power. I had to do this for both the bluetooth-specific devices and the more general wireless devices before the problems completely disappeared.
2. Under the advanced settings for a particular power plan, look for the wireless settings and change to maximum performance. This must be done for every power plan used and for both plugged-in and battery-only modes, otherwise the problems can resurface as soon as you switch to a different plan or go to battery-only.
When I fixed both of these things, the mouse was as responsive as all other wireless mice I've had. It does turn off to save battery life if left to sit for a bit and needs to be wiggled a bit to wake up. I haven't had the mouse for very long, so I can't comment on durability, but it seems more-or-less as sturdy as the Logitech M305 I used before switching to the wedge.
This brings me to the only negative is bluetooth connectivity issues. Not sure if it is an OS issue, a PC hardware issue, a mouse hardware issue, or a driver issue, but the thing randomly and relatively frequently loses its bluetooth connection and just stops working, and sometimes a computer reboot is required to re-establish connection. I bought this for a new HP Folio I bought here on Amazon. My bluetooth Magic Mice on my MacBooks hardly ever lose connectivity. In any event, it's annoying and the only thing keeping this from being a five-star product. My laptop came with Windows 7 and I did a wipe and clean install of Windows 10, and I have issues with this mouse staying connected with both OS's, though it was worse in Win 7, leading me to believe it's a driver issue.
I have come to move the mouse, not with my whole hand, pivoting my wrist, but with only my thumb and middle finger. Imagine yourself holding a AA battery between your thumb and middle finger, keep your palm stable, and move the battery around by dragging it (or lifting it) with those two fingers. This is all the motion you need to get the mouse cursor anywhere on the screen (for me at least with my Surface 2). I right click, left click and scroll all with my index finger.
If you use this mouse like a normal mouse, that is, you pinch the mouse with your thumb and ring finger where the battery is, and keep your index and middle finger above the two buttons, there is something you ought to know. You cannot right click if you leave your index finger touching the mouse (perhaps where the left click button is, but anywhere really). I have come to use this to my advantage. I do all of my clicking with my middle finger ("right click") but I do this with my index finger comfortably resting on the mouse. Only when I want to actually right click, I will left my index finger to allow the mouse to register the right click.
The scroll works practically anywhere on the mouse. The mouse is about 3 inches wide. you can scroll anywhere within the middle 2 inches, just not the outer 1/2 inch area. very accommodating.
Some minor annoyances.
The mouse and the computer have a difficulty initiating the initial connection. Only about 50% of the time will the mouse connect to the tablet by turning it on. Otherwise I have to take out the battery, where upon putting the battery in, it has connected immediately 100%. I don't know if this is the mouse's fault or my tablet, but my tablet has no problem connecting with my wedge keyboard, so, yeah.
This is not a problem because I take out the battery to my mouse after each use. The mouse is easily turned on by pushing a button below the mouse (not a toggle or a switch you have to physically move up and down). So there was this one time where it somehow turned on by itself in my backpack and it ran out of battery. Ever since I take out the battery after each use, so the issue of connectivity was alleviated, for me, at least.
The mouse does shut off after about 5 minutes of non-use.
So all in all, my opinion:
I absolutely love this mouse. it is super portable. looks nice, gets all the job I want done. I don't get wrist cramps since I don't use my wrist to move the mouse. I would never want to use a mouse where you have to rest your entire palm on it ever again nor carry all that mass around in my bag.

Bought the two items together and I'm very happy, I got it working for vmware + macOS High Sierra, now I can work on sketch app from my desktop Win10 PC !!
