Ok, I've owned the boots and worn them every day for about 3 months now. I'm a forester, rancher and a hunter and I walk at least a couple of miles every day. Most days, I walk several miles, sometimes in the river bottoms and sometimes in steep, rocky hills. I'm 50 and my feet had started giving me some trouble. I've always worn footwear from the "work boot" category. I know now that I should have always worn boots in the quality hiking/ backpacking category. These are by far the best pair of boot I've ever worn. They keep getting better every day. I don't get as tired as I did when wearing other boots and my feet are in much better shape now. If these boots will last me at least a year ( I think they will), I will, without a doubt, purchase another pair. They are expensive compared to other boots I've worn but they are well worth the money so far.
The pair of Lowa Tibets I reviewed above will be 2 years old next month (today is 5/3/2016). They look pretty rough on the outside but still feel and perform great. I'm breaking in a second pair now. As long as these boots continue to fit my feet, they will be the only one for me.
Edit: Went out hiking today to break these in and they don't need it. Amazing boot. intentionally walked through water to test out the waterproofing and as expected dry as could be. Hike about 2 miles today in these and feet felt great afterwards for being a brand new boot 1st time out. Really curious to see how these hold up when its hunting season w/ negative wind chills in the tree stand.
They are, hands down, the best boots I've ever owned. I have been breaking them in over the last few weeks and have been amazed at how they fit and wear. This is not what I would call a lightweight boot, but you hardly can tell that you are wearing them.
I started wearing them a few hours a days around the house and then out on some short hikes to break them in. Absolutely no hotspots, rubs, etc.
I wear a size 10.5M to 11M shoe/boot normally, and I purchased these in an 11. The fit is perfect. Perhaps a little extra room in the toe than typical, but that does leave room for a heavier sock if necessary.
GTX bootie has been truly waterproof. I have worn them through some slop already and my feet stayed dry. The only thing I will say about the GTX is that it makes this a warm boot. Even though it isn't insulated, with the right sock(s), these boots would be adequate for all but the coldest of days.
I've only had it a couple weeks but I'm still in the break-in phase. My foot is slightly wide so that is why I had to purchase three pairs of these boots to find the correct fit. I still feel a little pressure on the outer sides of my feet but it's gotten better in the short time that I've owned this boot. It provides great support and seems almost impossible to roll an ankle. I've walked through creeks that came mid height of the tounge and no water entered the boot. I love the lacing system especially the locking cam and the tongue stud that once wrapped with a lace, prevents the tongue from moving during walking.
These boots were on sale for $120 off their regular price so I had to jump on them. I actually had the 3rd pair of boots in my cart and the sale price ended and actually increased in price in my cart. An amazon agent on "chat" said there was nothing they could do but a phone call later that day solved this issue. Amazon rocks!
