Play Together!
- Restaurant Role Play: Be a customer in your child’s own restaurant! Let them tell you what is on the menu and place your order. Make sure to ask them lots of questions as they get cooking and give special requests to encourage their critical thinking.
- Make sharing the clean-up responsibilities fun with your little one. Pretend washing and putting dishes away when playtime is over will help foster good habits, show an example of teamwork, and aid in motor skill development!
- Cooking Show: Give your little chef 5 minutes to prep their favorite pretend meal and think out how to present it to you. Create a mini cooking show by taking video of them recreating their pretend dish, talking you through each step so you can make it too! Continue the pretend play by making “episodes” of the cooking show to watch with family and friends.
- Playing with a Step2 pretend play kitchen? Pair it with one of our table and chair sets to complete your child’s mini restaurant! Our favorites include the Step2 Junior Chic 3-Piece Furniture Set and the Step2 3-Piece Farmhouse Table & Bench Set.

The assembly was straightforward, and once set up, it unveiled an array of intricate details that mimic a real kitchen, from the "stainless steel" refrigerator to the stove, sink, and even the included electronic grill. The numerous storage cabinets and bins help keep things organized, and the wide counters provided ample space for pretend play.
What really impressed us were the realistic electronic features — the grill, stovetop, and phone all produce sound, giving an incredibly authentic experience. The accessory set is comprehensive, with pots, pans, and play food that enrich the whole experience.
The most rewarding part has been watching the kids engage in cooperative play, cooking together, and serving the family their imaginative dishes. It's heartwarming to see them role-playing, sharing tasks, and developing social skills while having the time of their lives.
Overall, the Step2 Grand Walk-In Kitchen & Grill is a stellar investment for any family looking to encourage imaginative and creative play. The durability, attention to detail, and interactive features make it a standout toy that will offer endless hours of engaging fun. This kitchen set has indeed cooked up a storm of excitement in our home!

One thing that really annoys me is the space opposite the grill. There’s a built in shelf that is about 2” deep and way too short for anything that comes with it, except the little teacups and salt and pepper shakers. There’s a huge gap on the sides and below that is just wasted space. I added command hooks so she can hang utensils along the sides as well as alongside the grill and under the open counter.
I wanted to buy this for my baby girl since I was pregnant with her and I waited forever for it to go on sale but it never did. Now that she’s 18 months old, I just bit the bullet and bought it. She adores it. She plays with it for hours and hours. We did add a lot to make it more fun, like fairy lights, under cabinet lights, fridge light, oven light, vines, lanterns, etc.. It’s much cuter now and looks more like a $300 toy after putting another $50 into it. 😅 A lot of the utensils and foods you see are things we purchased separately from other brands.
Overall, I’m glad I bought it because she loves it and we have a lot of fun with it, but the lack of storage and abysmal placement of the predrilled holes along with an overall lack of interactive features make me wish this was 2/3 the price. At that price point it would be an easy sell. At $300 you have to really really want this particular kitchen to overlook it’s flaws.
