I bought the Wedge Touch Mouse to work with an HP Pavilion 11x2 running Windows 8.1 It works beautifully for me. My hands are quite large, but gripping the mouse with my thumb and ring finger gives me complete control and I find the mouse very easy and comfortable to use. Mouse clicks are firm and obvious, and work anywhere within the clickable area (I am using the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, but with the default settings). It works well on most of the surfaces I've tried (not glass, of course, and interestingly it won't work on the leg of my Jeans). It has a backpack-mode, which means I don't have to remember to turn it off when I stow it, it turns off automatically in the bag. This actually seems to work, although I don't know what the battery life will turn out to be in the long run. The Bluetooth reconnects almost instantly and the only lag I've noticed is with horizontal scroll on the Win8 Charm Screen. I really appreciate the ballistic scrolling, both up-down and left-right... I can scroll from the top to the bottom of a five page document with only one flick of my finger, and stop anywhere I want on the way.
The only complaint I can make about this mouse is that when I run my CAD program (DesignSpark). using the scroll function to zoom in and out is clumsy. Since there are no detents on the scroll, I have trouble zooming in or out a single "click" at a time. Of course, the mouse is intended as a travel mouse, and running a CAD program on an 11" screen is pretty restrictive anyway, so I can't count this as a real negative.
The price does seem to vary, though. I bought mine from Amazon three weeks ago for $37, It now seems to run from $42 to $60. So far as I can tell, the Surface edition is identical to the non-surface edition. The Amazon images for both show the silver sides. I had understood that the only difference between the two was the color of the sides. In fact while I ordered the Surface edition with the silver-sided image, what I got is a Surface Edition (according to the box) with black sides. This makes absolutely no difference to me, but if you're looking to get the silver sides, make very sure with the seller exactly what you're buying. And probably expect to pay more.
As an aside, I connected this to one of my WinXP desktops, and it worked fine, including the ballistic scrolling. But it's not a particularly good substitute for a good desk mouse... it really is too small to be easily precise. It's intended for a netbook/tablet/mini-laptop with limited USB ports that gets carried around in a bag. For that, for me, it's great.
