About this item

  • ★★★★★ EFFORTLESS CUTTING - The ratchet in the pruner is a clever extra mechanism to make light work of tough cuts. As you squeeze ratcheting pruning shears, they latch so you can release and squeeze again, performing the cut in easy steps rather than one go. As you cut through a branch, the ratcheting mechanism clicks and moves to the next setting, providing ever-increasing pressure as you cut.
  • ★★★★★ 5 TIMES THE POWER - The ratcheting mechanism's settings multiply your hand's power by up to 5 times, so that you don't have to do the work - the pruning shears do it for you. With
  • ★★★★★ HIGH QUALITY HARDENED STEEL BLADES - Heat treated and hardened carbon steel blades are ultra strong, will last longer and are less likely to nick or need frequent sharpening. Coated with non-stick Teflon that resists sap and other sticky materials.
  • ★★★★★ ERGONOMIC COMFORTABLE DESIGN - If you intend to prune frequently, you'll appreciate the way that a ratchet pruner will reduce wrist strain, require less pressure to cut, and generally make the pruning experience much more enjoyable. If you do a lot of pruning, this can make a huge difference in hand fatigue. Ideal if you are already starting out at a disadvantage with carpal tunnel or arthritis, or have smaller hands.
  • ★★★★★ 100% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GUARANTEE - Order with confidence! The Gardenite 100% customer satisfaction guarantee means exactly that. We will fix any problems quickly and to your 100% satisfaction every time! We are always available to help our customers. Our customer service record is unmatched!

Product Description

RATCHET PRUNING SHEARS - 5x MORE CUTTING POWER

EFFORT LESS CUTTING
The ratcheting mechanism's settings multiply your hand's power, so that you don't have to do the work - the pruning shears do it for you. They slice through much thicker branches than conventional pruners, and they're very easy on your hands. Because they work like a ratchet, they never get dull. The extra power of the ratchet action makes these pruners ideal for heavy jobs.

HOW RATCHET ANVIL PRUNING SHEARS WORK
Anvil pruners have one sharp blade normally the top blade and a flat, non-cutting blade, or "anvil" at the bottom. When you squeeze the handle, the sharp top cutting blade is brought down on the branch you're cutting, and the anvil holds that branch in place so that the cut can be completed.

RATCHET ACTION - 5 TIMES THE POWER
The ratcheting mechanism's settings multiply your hand's power by up to 5 times, so that you don't have to do the work - the pruning shears do it for you. As you cut through a branch, the ratcheting mechanism clicks and moves to the next setting, providing ever-increasing pressure as you cut.

PERFECT FOR SMALLER HANDS AND WOMEN
Pruning can tire the strongest hands, but if you are already starting out at a disadvantage with carpal tunnel or arthritis, or have smaller hands, you should definitely consider a ratchet pruning shear.

Overall, a good value.
DurabilityProduct usage so far has been one week breaking down dead oak saplings en masse to discard in small bins. The blade is holding up to the wear (which i would describe as medium; most branches 0.25 inch or less with many reaching a little over 0.5 inch on the high end) so far only minimal nicking on the blade closest to the ratcheting joint. But a bit more than expected on a week old blade. The metal's performance is average, and the sharpness from the factory is good. Closeup of the blade after one week of use is included for your own comparison of nicks and slight deformations. The blade anvil is a strip of plastic that the blade bites into to finish a cut. Mine is now scarred but holding on well.ErgonomicsI have smaller hands, and the blade is comfortable enough to hold and grip. Multiple hours of cutting do result in an uncomfortable pressure point between thumb and index finger, since the padding "strip" is a bit short and you're basically pressing down on a metal bump. To be fair, this is not trouble in shorter times. It does not take a difficult amount of pressure to operate the sliding lock either. Perhaps some 4 pounds of gripping strength. The slide lock operates smoothly and can be engaged with just a fingertip in the model I received. The slide's track is a bit short though, and it can be hard to know if you've locked the tool until you release the handles.Cutting CapacityCuts are smooth so far, and the ratcheting mechanism begins to give you aid even with short releases of the handle. The front blade does have some slight wobble on larger pieces. Branches getting around the 0.75 inch mark seem to be a bit beyond the comfortable operation of the tool. I would say just around 0.6 inch is the largest branch I could safely recommend based on how the tool feels while cutting at that size. A closeup of the blades next to a ruler is in the pictures below to give you an idea.
