Tria Lasers vs. IPL Devices

---|---|---|---|
More EnergyTria's laser devices safely deliver over 3 times more hair-eliminating energy than any IPL or other at-home hair removal devices. This means each follicle that is within the treatment area will be exposed to more energy than within an IPL device. |
Easier to UseAll Tria devices are powered by an internal battery while most IPL devices require a cord during use. Tria's cordless devices help to increase the range of places you can use them and creates a more comfortable experience. |
Easy on the EyesNot only are Tria's lasers safe and effective for use on the face and body, but the light emission is not as intense compared to the bright light bursts from an IPL device. |
More Control and PrecisionTria's laser devices provide controlled precision on each treatment area, targeting each follicle at a much deeper and concentrated level than IPL for permanent results. |

Bottom line, she had the Tria so that is what I asked for for my birthday/mother's day/Christmas. I have been using it for about 9 months now and it has improved my life and my happiness level. BEST GIFT EVER! I'm not cured, but it is so much better that it makes me want to cry thinking about how much time. medication side effects, money, and embarrassment I have suffered with over the years.
Yes, it can be painful, like a rubber band snap sometimes. Other times, just like flash heat. But, for me, it improved me life so much that I don't even care about the occasional discomfort.
Info that might be helpful:
I have medium/dark medium hair and light/medium complexion.
Do not pluck your hair for two week before your treatments. Only shave. After reading the instructions I had to wait for two weeks to start my laser treatments. It felt like a lifetime, and I wish I knew that before I ordered so I could have been ready to start the day it arrived. Actually, I don't pluck anymore so that I'm ready.
Do not put any cream or lotion on before the treatments because the laser will not work if it can't make contact with your skin. It knows if you put cream on between showering and the treatments. Make sure your skin is freshly washed and dry. Otherwise, it can be frustrating and you might think the unit is not working or broken. Nope, for me it was cream or deodorant or makeup or whatever from earlier in the day or the night before. Once I figured that out the unit works every time.
1. It hurts. This isn't for someone who freaks out at a slight sting. IT HURTS.
2. It takes time. Its not instantaneous!
3. It works. (Comparison pictures included!)
So I'm not a impulse buyer. I stared at this thing for like 6 months going back and forth on whether to give it a chance. Finally I broke down.
I ONLY have been using this laser on my underarms and bikini (soon to be Brazilian yeah I know it says not to do it but its working so woo!) So this is not a review for legs. I constantly have ingrown hairs and am uncomfortable in these two regions thanks to my hair but cant really afford professional laser. Waxing is expensive because my hair grows back within a week or less, and shaving every night works, but makes it look ugly and I can already see hair again in 12 hours or less. I'm going to the Bahamas soon and I wanna look damn good in my bikinis.
So I bought the Tria, followed instructions, started zapping the same night I got it. I am a believer of actual results so I only did it on ONE armpit, and one side of my bikini line. I wanted to see actual differences because I was not about to waste 400 bucks on some laser that didn't do crap in a months time. Thankfully it has passed its trial! *party time*
So to use it I apply Numb Master Cream 30 minutes before and then get a bag of ice to use while zapping. Battery life is wonderful for me doesn't run out ever. I use it on the 5 setting. I want those hairs GONE. IT HURTS LADIES. This is not for the weak willed. I feel like I'm getting a pinch from tweezers every time it zaps or worse. The numbing cream and ice helps. If it doesn't hurt that means you haven't hit a hair and you just wasted a zap!
I've used it probably.. 4 or 5 times now in the three week period I've had it. I didn't really notice a change until one night I went to go shave my underarms and... there was almost no hair on one. I stared at it like an idiot for 2 minutes wondering if I'd already shaved it but it was the same throughout the next two days. No not all the hair is gone but most of it is and what is there is fine and takes a while to grow.
So overall recommendation is yes if you have dark hair on light skin USE THIS. Use it correctly, it will hurt but its way better than waxing for the rest of your life!! I've included 3 pictures from my 3 weeks of use. As you can see one is my left underarm and another is my right. Both have not been shaved in 24 hours and you can already see differences! And the third one is the top of my bikini line. You can see a clear distinction from my left and right sides of how my hair is left, that is also a 24 hour period from being shaved.
I'll add more to this review as I remember what to write/tips, and post update pictures if I can get all the hair to be gone forever! With the results I've had so far I'm pretty confident in it!

I have been using this on level 5 (highest level) since the start but yes, depending where it hurts! The rubber band comparison you read about is pretty accurate but some areas are tough! Your hair does literally shed after some use. I would pluck and tweeze almost daily. I have been using for about a month and a half and use the TRIA once a week. I have noticed significant reduction in hair growth and also in length of time I would need to shave or normally pluck in between.
If I had to name some CONS, the pain and battery life. Like I mentioned, some areas are no problem but some others are quite painful. You get used to it but it also improves as your hairs weaken/over time (still worth it!!!). I would agree with others that you get about 30 minutes or so of use. Battery takes a couple of hours or so to fully charge. It would be nice if the head of the product was larger also but again I still love it! I wouldn’t recommend for larger areas like your legs.
If you were like me, give it a try. Worth the money for me with the time and confidence this gives me :)
