Can work like a cabinet saw on site.

Can work like a cabinet saw on site.
My daughter wanted me to build her a bench for her eating area. The problem is that I live in Canada and she lives in Dallas and I couldn't bring my tools with me on the plane. I ordered and had delivered this saw and a few other tools to use on this project. It was fortunate that she had a couple of plastic folding tables that could be used as an outfield table and a side support table so now I could cut full sheets with ease. The first thing i did was build a stand for the saw that would make the saw the same height as the table tops and then built a sled to make cross cutting safe and accurate. The pictures show my setup and how this saw can act like a cabinet saw that doesn't take up much space. The blade that comes with the saw is okay but I brought my own stiffer blade and sized down to 8" for more power and less flex. The accuracy of the fence was very good.

Ok, so I recently got into DIY, further educating myself with carpentry and what not. This tool is amazing and it's my 1st table saw. I've been reading comments about 0 clearance on the throat plate, carbide blade being a POS, riving knife adjustments, fence not aligned and etc.

Pros:
- Light weight, durable and mobile.
- Stationary or not, you can bring it wherever.
- Upgradable to a stand.
- Fence was perfect when I received the package so I had no problems with perfect 90* and adjustments.
- Carbide blade is decent enough for me to cut and everything came out cut clean. I have not done any rips just yet, but I will update with the OEM carbide blade later in future.
- Price is about right.

Cons:
- Miter gauge isn't snug tight or well placed.
- I find the protection guard rather annoying than convenient. I'm all about safety, but I find this one useless imo. I just don't like the way it's designed.
- Carbide and riving knife were not aligned, but most pro carpenters do adjustments before any cuts. Not much of a problem.
- Throat plate seems to be a problem and it starts at the locking and unlocking mechanism (black circular twist). It has an awkward and dissatisfying hump that sticks out slightly giving it an off alignment, this also applies to the throat plate. It shimmy and moves around.
- Cord. I was hoping that it would at least reach 15ft, but granted that I have an extension cord it doesn't really matter, at least for my personal use.
- Wish they had a hose or nozzle adapter for sawdust and vacuum accessories. None of my heavy duty construction vacuum nose will fit on the table saw. It's fine. I'll have to make do or elaborate.

I love this thing so far. Even with the slight adjustments and throat plate being "not the greatest", I was still able to cut perfect square with 90*.

Performs better than expected, definitely happy about the purchase and well worth the money at $329. I'm giving it a 5 because I can't give it a 4.5. Its somewhere between like and love. It took me a day or so to get used to because its not a conventional table saw; you don't move the fence, you turn a knob that moves the fence. I also have to double check that the fence is locked down, its not as intuitive as a conventional table saw.

pros:
does all the basics well
powerful little motor. it handles hard wood- I cut some bubinga on it with relative ease.
the fence stays parallel with the blade (cannot be said for other saws this size/price range)
i read somewhere that its heavy, but for a table saw i think i can move it around with relative ease. any lighter it would feel like a toy. nice handles on the side too
the 24.5" rip is great. I wouldn't buy anything smaller.

cons:
I wish there was a little more room in front of the blade.
the blade is unimpressive, but I expected that and replaced it. if you use soft wood it'll do fine
its on the loud side so i use ear muffs. (you have to pay for the quieter table saws)
You can't trust the angle reader. I bought a digital angle finder, I'd recommend one for this.

This is the best job site saw I have ever owned. Accurate out of the box. Very repeatable and accurate fence system. All the safety features but they don't get in the way which means I'll be more likely to use them. Storage on board for most of the safety gear accessories (except miter gauge unless I missed something). Dust collection is extremely effective, though the outlet fitting is sized only for the larger shop-vacs, so you'll need a reducer for the smaller vacs. When mounted on the stand it is very stable, height appropriate for use, and compact for storage either flat to the ground or tipped on end. Easy to set up and easy to wheel around.
Excellent package for occasional use at home or heavy use on site.

Update: 5/2015
Still very pleased with this saw. It remains my "go-to" saw for basic jobs both at home and on-site. Still wish they would have included a storage slot for a small miter gauge. When I 'grab and go' for a work site, it is usually the one item I forget since it's not a part of the tool package.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente calidad y potencia
Reviewed in Mexico on July 26, 2020

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Table Saw that is easy to set up and use.
Reviewed in Canada on April 9, 2018
This is a fantastic light weight table saw. I'm beyond impressed with its performance. With my Rigid vac connected it does a great job of capturing the dust and keeps the workspace clean. Blade runs true.

Saw was completely on spec as delivered. I checked everything for alignment and accuracy and it was spot on.

I swapped the original blade out right out of the gate for a Frued and it lays out razor sharp edges ready for glue. I used this to build a kitchen island and peninsula where I needed to rip many pieces to specific sizes to get the look desired. I did not use it for cross cutting though as I have a Bosch 12" sliding saw for that.

I have a Protocol stand to use with it that makes handling larger material easy and safe. Cutting 4x8 3/4 maple plywood was a bit of a stretch as it requires lots of support due to the reduced work surface of a portable saw but it did a great job non the less.

The saw is very user friendly, the fence adjustment is so handy and easy to set and lock.

Handles to carry the saw are well balanced and it is easy to lift and carry. I do not have a cart for it. Weight is just right. Heavy enough to be sturdy while remaining portable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent portable saw. Excellent design and build-quality.
Reviewed in Canada on December 31, 2016
Until I bought this little job-site table saw I had been using a store-brand unit. Since buying the (much less expensive) store-brand saw I had always regretted not spending the extra money on a Dewalt. The difference in design, build-quality, and function is almost startling. The Dewalt is better designed, better thought-out, and everything is more precise. I bought it along with the Dewalt rolling table saw stand, which is equally well designed, and works very well with this table saw. This saw model has a 24" rip capacity, which allows the operator to do a little more with it than some of the other saws on the market. The fence runs very smoothly and precisely on a rack and pinion system. The fence has a very smart flip-over extension that can be flipped one way for narrow ripping close to the fence, or flipped the other way to support your material when ripping wider widths. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend to anyone who appreciates good quality and good design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente opción.
Reviewed in Mexico on April 5, 2019
