I bought this scooter after major leg surgery to take with me when I moved from Florida to Georgia. My mother was able to assemble it on her own in about an hour. The scooter is heavy when it is put together but if you take the battery and seat off it becomes a lot more manageable. My mom and 14 yo brother were able to get it in and out of the back of our van relatively easily. I brought this scooter with me to Disney World and it did an awesome job getting me through the parks. I’ve never had the battery die, even after a full days use. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen the battery drop bellow 50% charged.
I have also taken this scooter to the lake and it did great going up and down hills, over dirt roads and even through grass when needed. The scooter is easy to control, can go faster than a lot of other scooters, feels stable and holds a good charge.
The only time I’ve had an issue was when I was going up a steep hill in the scooter. The scooter died suddenly and stopped midway up the hill, however the scooter didn’t slide backwards, so I was safe. I took the keys out and waited for a while, maybe 10 mins, then turned the scooter back on and it was working again. I think the hill was just a bit too steep.
My leg was in a straight leg brace and I was able to keep it straight in the scooter. I am 6 feet tall and my foot hung a bit off the front of the scooter but it didn’t bother me or cause any problems for the scooter. There was plenty of room for my other leg so if you are tall and can bed your knees I think this scooter will work great for you.
This scooter is just as high quality as scooters three times the price.

1. Putting it together. It was put together mostly on arrival. All I had to do was attach the arms to the seat, put the seat on, and tighten it all as appropriate. It took less than 5 minutes. The directions are simple and easy to understand.
2. The battery was already fully charged. It has Velcro on the bottom and there is a piece on the seat pole that turns in order to "lock" the battery in place so it doesn't move.
3. Transporting. My husband and I took off the battery, the seat, and basket to load into the back of our trunk (We have a Toyota Corolla). It fit perfect. We took off the back part which locks in place quick and easy just to make it easier for me to lift, even though I could lift it easily.
4. Putting it back together at our destination was very quick and easy too.
5. Driving it at the festival was wonderful. He went through a lot of gravel with ease. Wet grass was no problem and it didn't slide or slow down. Up and down VERY steep hills was no trouble at all. He is 5,10", 250lbs, and it kept its speed on control knob right in the middle all day. It didn't bogg down or slow at all. The ride was smooth and even, and the seat was comfortable on his bad back.
6. Battery after almost 7 hours at the festival only used 2 "bubbles" on the battery life indicator. He only turned it off for 10 minutes to eat, then continued driving.
This scooter is a MUST for any disabled veteran. I can't compliment Scout enough. It was comfortable, and smooth riding, even with a lot of hills and gravel. If you have researched scooters to find the best, look no further. Such an amazing, affordable mode of transportation! There are 0 negative things about this scooter. My husband is very happy that I bought it. He now can go to festivals and other fun adventures without worrying about a thing. 100% positive happiness!
Positives:
- This is a heavy, well-built scooter that allows our grandmother to access shopping centers and long walks for the first time in years.
- The arm rests fold up/adjust easily which make it easy to access from the side and support her arms when she is driving.
- EASY Controls: One key ignition, one speed dial, and one toggle for forward/reverse. That’s it! You can learn to operate this in minutes.
- Transportable: We needed a unit that could fit in our trunk, and this does the trick. It’s not easy to disassemble, but it’s possible.
- Stabile. This has pretty good turn radius for a four-wheeler. It easily makes the turn on tight sidewalks. There are actually six wheels, with two small anti-tip wheels on the back. It would be hard to tip over.
- Range. This has 8 mile range which was critical for us. Will update if the battery loses that range in the months to come.
Negatives:
- Heavy. The seat is heavy. The arm rests are heavy, the steering column is heavy, etc... not easy to transport or disassemble because of the weight of each component. It feels like other materials could have been used on certain components to get this much lighter.
- We bottomed out on the first sidewalk “pothole.” We had to get off and lift it out. It was a normal Chicago 2-inch dip between shifting concrete sections... so this is really only for very flat roads or indoors.
- Quality issues... The wall charger for the battery gets VERY hot while charging, the sign of poor quality components. The seat swivel bar sticks already, and is hard to swivel. These are basic material quality issues that I’m hoping don’t lead to a short product life.
- The steering column tilts but doesn’t extend. The seat height adjusts only 1.5 inches up and down, not forward and backward. Unfortunately this means we couldn’t get the ergodynamics right for our grandmother. The column was either the right height but too far away from her body; or the right distance from her body but too low and hugging her legs. We compromised for the best possible position but she is clearly not as comfortable as she’d like to be while driving.
I recommend this as a reasonably good value for this price level. It is already making a big difference for use a few times a week. I Will update if it changes in the months/years to come.
