Hung this guy up and spaced it out so there's about 2" of bar sticking out of each support. I used two 1x4 boards (one 8ft board cut in half for free at Home Depot) to help provide more surface area and added protection to the sheet rock. I rested the supports onto the 1x4 and pre-drilled some 5/16 holes into the wood so the lag screws would slide right through. I then placed the boards on the wall in front of the 2x4 beams behind sheetrock and made sure the pre-drilled holes were centered. Then drilled through those holes into the sheet rock with a 1/4 drill bit. Then I placed the support onto the 1x4 and slid one of the lag screws through the top holes, held the support up with one arm while I drilled the lag screw in with the other, leaving the screw slightly loose so as to allow the support to move freely. Then I lined up the bottom holes with the pre drilled hole in wall and tightened. Repeated with the other side.I used six 5" 5/16 lag screws, lock washers and washers. This was actually pretty easy to do, which surprised me. However, would be much easier with another person. Also, an impact drill is extremely handy when it comes to actually screwing in the lag screws.I did some of the Kipping pullups, which I don't normally do, just to test how solid this thing was. Very solid! Also, since I made sure my pre-drilled wall holes were exactly the same distance from ceiling, and checked the sides with a level, I had zero issue sliding the bar through the holes in the supports when the time came. This pullup bar is much bigger in person, so I assure you it is plenty of distance from the wall and wide enough to get done what you need to do. Also, it works very well with the Primal 7 straps as you can see in the photos.Since it sticks out so far from wall, and extremely solid, I am currently considering mounting a 150# heavy bag on it for some kickboxing when not otherwise being used. If I do I will come back and post how it holds up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super solid pull-up rig, ridiculous value
Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2018
I bought this in December 2017, so no comments on longevity other than speculative ones below. The box it came in was a little beat up, but everything in it was intact and in excellent condition. I had a different multiposition pull-up bar but it had to be on studs 48” apart, and I only had 36” of space, so this fit the bill perfectly as the bar can extend from the mounts.
Really impressed with the quality. Welds are excellent, finish is fantastic. I mounted on 1x4s cut to 36”. Once mounted, even at 260+ with weight vest on, this thing doesn’t wiggle. Excellent value and incredibly easy to install. I can’t imagine this not lasting forever. The screws that keep the bar from spinning work great, and I was a little worried about them. Not a single complaint about this at all.

Re install, I used slightly longer lag bolts than it came with due to the 1x4. First I stacked the 1x4s, then sat one of the sides on them and drilled pilot holes through the holes in the mount and both boards. Then I found the stud and marked holes on the wall through my pilot holes. I double checked each mark with the stud finder, then drilled my pilot holes into the wall. Then I attached the 1x4 to the wall with a small screw, lining up the pilot holes. Finally, I ran the bolts through the rig, 1x4, and into the wall, tightening by hand with a socket wrench. That easy.
