Well-made, as gorgeous as a scale can be, tips for lifting, and how to preserve the battery
I like this scale a lot. It's beautifully made. I feel I can give it 5 stars. Here's a tip for travelers who don't want to deadlift fifty pounds (a suitcase hanging from their hand scale while it calculates the weight). Hitch a piece cord around the scale's handle. Use a broom handle (or sturdy monopod) for leverage, placed through the cord. Support one against something slightly taller than the scale strap + suitcase then lift up using the object (couch arm etc) as a fulcrum. An alternate method is to but the suitcase on a box and do the same thing using a cane, crutch, shaft of an ice axe, baseball bat, or the leg of a chair--then lift up, then push the suitcase off the box so it can be suspended by the scale. Another method is to use a short stick held between two people.Other reviews mention a potential battery issue. I like the idea to not relying upon the auto shut off feature by manually turning it off, or going a step further by carrying a small phillips screwdriver in order to insulate the photo battery (CR 3022) contact points with a skinny piece of paper. Both these measures are purported to extend battery life.I have managed to make countless overseas trips without ever owning a little scale before. However, that was the golden age of travel when a few extra pounds of luggage didn't matter, meals were given out to everyone on the flight, and everyone tried to be polite to one another--all the time.In terms of redesigning the scale for the future--materials and ergonomically--I wouldn't change a thing, perhaps a screwdriverless way to insulate the battery contacts. Building in an LED light thermometer is also an option--or a motion-sensitive (or trip-wire) alarm for added security while traveling? I should work for Bond as Q!I tested a scale repeatedly using a heavy suitcase and found it to be very precise.Bon Voyage!Photo: Poland's picturesque Hotel Arłamów.

This is the second luggage scale I have. The first one got compressed in my bag and the screen damaged; was a very cheap one. So I decided to get a new better one; reading reviews in Amazon, I opted for Tarriss, very happy with the decision. This is a very good, simple, accurately, and well-constructed item, and surely you can put it in a compressed bag without any problem (I have done it several times!). There are some scales that have backlight, believe me, backlight is only useful for draining battery (the old cheap one had backlight and had to change battery often). Regarding accuracy, Tarris scale it is really very accurate. I have set several times my luggage with the Tarriss scale to 23 kg max that usually travel companies impose, when I got to the airport to check in scale reading were exactly 23 kg. This device is a must have when traveling if you don't want to have surprises in airports and not pay extra fees for overweight. Helps you distribute the items you are carrying between your luggage and your carry so each bag is within flight rules. It is a really small and weightless item compared with the benefits it can give you; it really worth carry with it. I surely recommend getting Tarriss scale.

This is something everyone who enjoys traveling should have. The sleek, ergonomic design fits so comfortably in your hand. I'm very impressed with the quality of such an affordable piece of equipment. This thing is built to last. It's so easy to use. You just wrap the strap around your suitcase handle, push the on button and see the zeros, then lift the luggage off the ground. As soon as it stabilizes, literally a couple seconds, it locks the weight in the easy to read LCD screen. Done!

It's so simple to use I just had to test it for accuracy. I have several sets of dumbbells laying around in my office, so I weighed them all. Every one weighed within the .2 lbs of its labeled weight. I believe that is also within the parameters of the dumbbell manufacture. So I weighed them all a few times to see if the scale varied within that .2 lb area. Interestingly enough it weighed each dumbbell exactly the same every time. Pretty cool.

My wife and I do a bit of traveling, we especially enjoy escaping to warmer climates during the winter months. Now I'm more of the throw the overnight bag together and go, but my wife on the other hand is what you would call your classic over-packer. No more over-weight bags at the airport for me, I'm done having to stuff some of her things into my bag to get on the plane. And the scale is so small and lightweight it fits right into the pocket of my overnight bag.

If you're looking for the perfect little traveling companion, I give this scale two thumbs up. I'm very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where has this scale been all my life?
Reviewed in Canada on February 20, 2017
Anyone who has teetered a giant piece of luggage on a bathroom scale and seen what the scale read at the same time has definitely thought the same thing I used to ponder, 'there has to be an easier way to do this!'. Well I have finally found the easier way! This gadget just makes sense. Its ease of use makes it perfect for any traveller. Small enough to slip into a pocket in your luggage and forget it exists until you need it. It happens every trip, you head out with a decent amount of luggage. Your so careful to not over pack. Then it happens. A deal here, a souvenir you can't live without there, it adds up and all of a sudden your bag is a lot harder to zip closed. When your in destination, the first scale you have access to may very well be the one at the airport and no one needs the stress and head ache of having to either pay astronomical fees at the airport for overweight luggage, or make a split second unprepared decision to dump out things and leave them behind in an airport garbage. This scale should be part of every travellers 'top 10 must have with me' packing list. I'm so impressed with its quality and how easy it is to use. I won't be leaving home without it!

This is one of those items that you never know you need until that one trip comes when you are deciding between the extra stuff and the huge price the airlines charge for the extra weight in your bag. The scale is so compact that you can fit it in any piece of luggage and always have it with you. It is really easy to read and you can tare it and make sure your weights are right for every situation. It fits nicely in your hand so is easy to hold and the strap is very strong. No more struggles with a bathroom scale and a large piece of luggage! And with the lifetime warranty I never have up worry.

What a great product! Wish we had it a month ago! When leaving Hawaii our one bag was over weight and of course it was the last one weighed! All the others were down the shoot and they would not take our bag till we made it lighter, nothing like opening your bag in front of everyone in line and stuffing items into carry on to help you determine you wont experience that again! Now we have a scale so we can do the juggling in the privacy of the hotel! And I never have too be "that person" again!

What really impressed me is the follow up email to make sure the scale was working as promised. Was able to set it to lbs easily and then tested it on 25lb weight. It as accurate and it's pretty strong for being so lightweight.
