Possibly the best value complete reef package on the market!
Customer Service: The tank came with a huge scratch and the stand came damaged. The stand piece and tank were replaced asap. I made sure to look in to SCA's customer service before buying this tank. They followed through.Quality of materials: The tank is awesome!!Glass is super clear on all sides.Silicone work is perfect. The back of the tank is painted black, but has a clear vertical stripe on the overflow area. This makes it so you can see the water level in the overflow from the back of the tank.PVC T Bar that returns sump water should be shipped black in my opinion. I spray painted it black though and it looks great now.Return pump is just okay, I would have chosen a different one, but it works fine.Skimmer is great. This is my third SCA 301 and they all are underrated. Best cheap skimmer that actually works for small tanks.Delivery: The semi truck that was delivering the tank wasn't able to make it down my street, so I had to go and meet him a couple miles away. Luckily I had a truck and he could just use the liftgate to put it right in the truck bed. In other situations, I am not sure how they would deliver the tank.Would I purchase again? Definitely! I have had this system in operation for a month now, and couldn't be more impressed, especially at the sale price of 600 dollars delivered. The tank is very clear 10mm glass, and the stand is constructed on excellent quality manufactured wood. Finish on the stand is excellent, expecially compared with other all-in-ones I looked at. The refugium is just the right size, but don't expect to put anything else in the space under the tank. The included skimmer is pumping out skimmate and was easy to tune. I just had to build a small stand to lift it so that it was about 7-1/2 inches in the water. The SC-301 is a pretty close copy of the Bubble Magus skimmer. I used the included hoses and pumps, and they have been fine so far. The bulkheads are metric and that makes it a little difficult to match plumbing. The tank's cubic shape makes it easy to light with an LED fixture (I'm using an OceanRevive Arctic T-247 that provides ideal coverage.) The SCA people in California were extremely cooperative, and held the shipping to arrive on a day when I could be home. Be ready for a semi-trailer to pull up, and get some help for the bulky, heavy boxes. That bulk, however, is needed to protect the tank and all the extras. If I had to find something to complain about, it would be the documentation and instructions. As one aquarist said on a website, you'll probably be okay building the stand if you've put together furniture from Ikea. When you unpack, don't throw away the thin black Styrofoam sheets. They go under the tank and refugium, and they're important to spread the load.

I bought this kit for a freshwater planted setup. The tank and stand are well made (and look great) as is the sump. While it comes with all of the plumbing (and 1 return pump) you'd need, I opted to buy some of my own parts to plumb it exactly how I wanted. Everything went together easily. The sump is perfect. Sometimes people say sumps are not needed for freshwater (and I agree) but it is great to have a place to put eaters, CO2 diffusers, UV filter etc. that doesn't show in the actual tank. I cannot imagine a better value in aquariums today.

I will look to Empire USA for future aquariums without hesitation. When things fill in and get settled, I'll add some pictures.

The tank and stand are absolutely gorgeous. It's been a long haul. The pnp came without the parts and sump. Company promply sent sump and parts out. Butttttt UPS had to mess it up, sump came broken. Company is promptly sending out a new one. Although a heartbreaking build, it will get done. Company is packing sump with plywood. Keeping fingers crossed. The only downside is the fittings to bulkheads. New parts from Depot will ensure the 90's stay in. Bummer on no detailed directions. As a old timer with hob overflows this got a lil confusing. Company promptly answered the 3rd drain question and Herbie overflow. I'll update with pics. Company has been amazing......UPS you suck breaking my and companies stuff. The plus side to this build is patience. Love the tank. I'll always had used and in 20 years this is my first birthday new tank. Love sc aquariums.

Color: White CabinetVerified Purchase
Cabinet isn't a bright white. Received with no plumbing. Seller took 2 weeks to ship plumbing and still had to go buy missing parts. Aquarium is nice. Worth the money? No

A complete plug and play aquarium minus lighting. Anyone in the Saltwater hobby knows its can be a very expensive start up with equipment and this unit has almost all the key components. If I pick an area to beat the product up, it would be the plumbing and the cabinet (stand). The system does not come with hoses that do not fit properly so out of the box, its prone to leaks. The cabinet is made of pressboard and we all know what happens with water and pressboard. The construction of the stand is good but with spray and salt creep, other time the interior will look crappy. As far as the plumbing goes, I would opt to use PVC instead of the vinyl hoses. As many of the other reviews mentioned, no instructions are included, so if this will be your first set up, you may struggle.

The pump and skimmer are adequate and I personally feel this is what makes this system a adequately priced. A decent return pump and skimmer can cost 300 to 400 alone.

I will start off by saying that I read every review on here and a few chat sites about this tank. The first thing I asked Empire was could they build the stand before shipping and with no hesitation they replied yes. Perfect, one issue I read done, complete with no headache for me. The second was to ask if they could provide SCH40 bulkhead fittings, both 1/2 and 1 inch because I plan to hard plumb the sump. Again, with no hesitation they replied yes and put them in the box with the tank. Now with 2 of the major issues out of the way I can focus on the overall project.
I would highly suggest that you apply a good amount of aquarium sealant between the rubber gasket and the tank when u install your bulkheads. Not 100% sure it's needed but it doesn't hurt and a little piece of mind. Outside of that, I'm pretty impressed by the tank and stand. I see some comments on how sturdy the stand is and from what I see it's pretty damn robust. It's heavy, thick and honestly kind of a pain to start a screw in when your securing all of you cords. Again, I'm just in the setup stage so I can't speak to the durability of the pumps and skimmer but I will update as needed. The one thing that stands out to me is the customer service. I had several questions and within hours they replied. I like that especially when you can't see what your ordering. A+ to Empire for that.
