I've never had any that smelled past their prime when I opened them, and the quality has been great with all three bags I've purchased. The bag seals up nicely to keep them from getting stale or hard, so I'm happy with that. I think they are a bit spendy, but again, my cat says they are worth it so I'll keep buying them.
