Our church has built Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child for a couple years now. I was thinking of ways to show our congregation just how far their compassion goes. I thought a BIG, GIANT wall map, like one you can't miss and we could show exactly where our Shoeboxes went. I love the massive size of this map and I double love that it's double laminated. A thick, sturdy, clear laminate on BOTH sides (a feature some maps didn't have) makes this map strong and sturdy. And since it's laminated, dry erase markers work on it. You can see in the second picture, my attempt to draw a nice line from Columbus, Ohio (where we are) to Tanzania, Africa (where our Boxes went) There are more dry erase lines drawn to Ecuador, Peru and Panama!

Amazing map, lousy description

So this map is amazing. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the description on Amazon says it is 78 x 48 inches, but the map is actually 77.5 x 46 inches. In the "about this item" description it does go on to say it is 77.5 x 46, but I didn't read this.
I ended up creating a push pin map for this using items from the hardware store. Basically bought ¼" thick cork wood floor underlayment, a melamine board and cheap crown molding as a frame.
1. Just use wood glue to glue cork underlayment to melanine board.
2. Put weight on top of cork. Preferably a big piece of plywood or a bunch of books.
3. Let dry over night.
4. Use Spray adhesive to adhere map to cork underlayment.
5. Get air bubbles out of mapby using a flat tool to scrape away from sides and to edges.
6. Let dry for one hour with weight on top of map as described in step 2.
7 flip map side down on a flat surface like floor and let dry overnight.
8. Cut crown molding. I cut a 1" piece for top and bottom and a ½ piece for sides bc my demensions were off. bc of the wrong description on product.

Overall it's amazing and my kids really associate places with the map through push pins.

I ordered the largest one, wasn’t sure about framing because of it’s relatively inexpensive price. I used the wait and see approach to address my concerns. I’m in my 60’s (meaning eyesight isn’t what it used to be) and bought this to track progress of my travels. It’s perfect and I will frame it. Excellent quality, laminated rollable card stock came in cardboard tube placed in box, nice bright contrasting colors, so easily visible, and size is perfect. Sorry about the glare that shows up more in the picture than when your actually looking at it.

It came earlier than expected which was a pleasant surprise. Nicely and professionally packaged into a long cylindrical holder. It was slightly creased because one part of the holder was dented while being shipped but it isn’t too obvious. Easy to put up with strong double sided silicon adhesive tape. I love the size, and the terrain information. The colours are very pleasant as well. The laminated front side also makes it possible to wipe it with damp cloth occasionally. Details of country boundaries are also very updated. Overall I’m very pleased with this educational map.
