Product Description
Magicfly Eggs Poultry Hatcher
- FAQ for the Magicfly egg incubator:
Q:Is this a forced-air or still-air incubator?
A: It’s forced air incubator. It has a little fan in it that circulates the air
- FAQ for the Auto turner:
Q: How do I know if its turning my eggs?
A: You can test by marking the egg with a pencil and periodically checking to see if the marked side has moved. It's a slow process.
Q: Is it possible to turn off the automatic turner?
A: You can't turn off the automatic turner but you can position the tray so that the eggs don't get turned/rotated. But keep in mind eggs have to be turned until they are very close to hatching.
- FAQ for the humidity:
Q: Does it show the humidity reading? And how to keep the humidity?
A: There is no humidity setting on this incubator. You could add your own hygrometer inside if needed, and manually adjust the humidity by adding or removing water from the incubator. It stays pretty consistent. You can have a look while passing through your home each day to check the temp and put some water if needed to keep the humidity around 55%. That will vary by location and weather.
- FAQ for the temperature.
Q: How do I adjust the off set temperature?
A: The user booklet has information on how to access temp. Hold temp button till flashing capital letters then "+ " till you hit CA then you can step +/- to calibrate.
Q: The incubator is not holding a consistent temp. How to do that?
A: 1.The factory temperature setting is about 38 degree( Celsius ) (the 38 degree is suggestted for the chicken eggs, if any other kinds of eggs, you need to adjust by the suggested temp.)
2. For the "inaccurate" reading of the temp, After some time, the sensors of other thermometer might start to give false reading by a degree or two which can affect hatch rates if not caught. This isn't exclusively a Magicfly issue, it also happened to other incubator and other thermometer.
We suggest you could use more than one thermometer/humidity sensors to work with if needed.
3. Recommended setting for difference eggs Note: The temperature of house-used thermometer may vary from our egg incubator, when the ambient temperature is less than 25℃(77℉),it is better to take measures for heat preservation. It’s good for temperature uniformity when the device is enclosed with clothes or other warms, and it also helps energy-saving and reduces heat dissipation. And if the environment temp reach 37℃((98.6 F)The temp of our incubator might reache 41-43 ℃(105.8-109.4 F). It is best to use it in a cool location.
TIPS on improving hatching rate:
- Maintain the quality of eggs: During storage and transportation, care must be taken to protect the eggs and avoid damage to ensure the quality of the eggs.
- Create a suitable incubation environment: the incubator needs to maintain stable temperature and humidity, light, ventilation and other environmental conditions to increase the hatching rate.
- Pay attention to the hatching operation: During the hatching process, pay attention to the correct way of placing the eggs, and regularly check the temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions of the incubator to ensure the smooth progress of the hatching process.
- Make appropriate adjustments to different breeds of eggs: Different breeds of eggs have different hatching requirements, which need to be adjusted according to the actual situation to improve the hatching rate.

Sorry this update is late. Unfortunately the first batch of eggs did not make it, trial and error. When I opened them up it was obvious MOST had died about a week ago. Some weren't even viable. One that did hatch just didn't make it. HOWEVER.......I started a new batch that day with FRESH eggs that I knew were absolutely fertilized, still warm, straight from the nesting boxes. These eggs hatched about three days ago and out of 8 eggs 5 hatched. The trick is to make sure that there IS NOT as much water about a day before they hatch. When they started hatching the heat from the eggs raised the humidity and the chicks just weren't getting dry. I eventually had to put them in their brooder before they were completely dry and they are doing very well! I plan on starting another batch in a few weeks. So far the brooder has held up impeccably well despite being run for nearly 2 months straight!
AS FOR THE TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATION: I put a BRAND NEW thermometer in the incubator and realized that the thermometer I had was wrong (and subsequently tossed out). SO, the incubator IS in fact keeping the correct temperature however be sure to check it if you're unsure. Still a great purchase!! Before I had given it 4/5 stars, I'm updating it to 5/5!

As of today 3/4/17 this item works VERY well for the price that it is. It fits 9 Jumbo sized chicken eggs quite well but can't fit anymore than that. I put my fertilized eggs in there just yesterday and WILL update when hatching day arrives including the condition of eggs.
It seems fairly simple enough, the directions seem to have been translated so the english is a bit hard to decipher. The directions could certainly be clearer and it was a little difficult to read the wall of text, the pictures were definitely more helpful.
Right when you open it there are several trays, the white ones and the black one, a little bag with a fuse inside, the power cord, and the tray dividers.
Place the smaller of the trays at the bottom, this is the hatching tray and also allows the larger white tray to reach the egg turner. I put about a 1/4 cup of hot water on the bottom including a wet paper towel to help with humidity. The egg tray is simple enough, arrange the eggs so that they have room to turn and place the dividers. The picture they have in the directions is probably for medium/large sized chicken eggs. My jumbo eggs were definitely snug and only 9 of them fit. This is adjustable so if you are going to be doing larger eggs such as turkey or smaller eggs such as quail it WILL accomodate them.
The eggs have been in there for approximately 24 hours. I had them in a homemade incubator for a little over a week so I know they are viable and I have definitely seen movement. This incubator is completely hands off HOWEVER I did place an instant read thermometer inside (through the little hole at the top) and it reads 95-100F when I set the temperature at 38.4C. This is something you may want to look into. A little cooling is ok since in nature Mama bird isn't on the eggs 24/7. As long as they don't cool off too much I don't see a problem. I really love that it turns them automatically and I haven't had a problem with that. RESIST THE URGE TO OPEN AND CHECK ON THEM.
All in all I believe this is a great purchase. It is perfect for a small backyard chicken keeper like myself, doesn't take up any space, is fairly quiet other than the small fan noise like a computer, and keeps the temperature regulated near perfectly.
PROS:
Doesn't take up any space
QUIET
Tray is adjustable (HOLDS 9 JUMBO CHICKEN EGGS for me)
Temperature is near perfect
Automatic turner works very well
Small
CONS:
Temperature does fluctuate a bit (about 5 degrees), put an instant read thermometer inside if you're concerned.
No way to monitor humidity other than purchasing a reader
Like I said, perfect for a small farmer. This is perfect for me to hatch out some chicks to refresh my flock without purchasing hatching eggs or hatched chicks. Some things I just thought about to help with the temperature fluctuation would be putting it with towels around it maybe nestled in a cardboard box. Or keep it someplace in your house where it's naturally warm. I have mine in my bedroom where it does tend to be on the cooler side.
I WILL UPDATE WHEN THE CHICKS HATCH! They're due the 14th of March.
Before use I scrubbed the bottom reservoir, two bottom mesh “shelves” and the tray that fits the eggs for the auto rotating feature all with hot soapy water. The unit itself looked quite clean but I find that reducing the bacteria you’re starting out with is a good idea!
I had eggs ranging from medium to extra large (all from a bunch of different breeds of chicken) and I was able to fit 9 into the auto turner tray. If you plan on manually turning them you could probably fit 12. I used an outdoor/indoor weather station thermometer to check the temperature, and for the most part it was pretty on point and fluctuated by a degree or two maximum. When the incubator was near my kitchen table I had more air drafts and there was greater fluctuation but once I moved it to my guest room it was quite stable! I usually had it set between 37.6 and 38.2 C. I also purchased an inexpensive reptile humidity gauge from Zoo Med and after calibrating it to the humidity displayed in my weather station it read humidity constantly and I was able to check humidity without lifting the lid. I needed about 40mL of water every day or two to maintain proper humidity.
Bonus was the fan inside the incubator that circulated the air and this seemed to avoid creating uneven temperature spots.
Our overall hatch rate out of 9 eggs was 66%, but two eggs were not fertile to begin with and the last one died late into development. All in all a great little product, especially at this price point!!
8/22: Received on time, well packaged, for me set up was easy, just followed the photos. Purchased an additional hydrometer/thermometer to make sure temperature and humidity hold. Will be receiving my eggs tomorrow and hope all 9 fit since some reviews suggest they may not and I can't afford time to hand turn with my schedule. It is set up now to monitor and make sure it's stable before adding eggs, however it heated up quickly and has held so far. Only issue, and this is more user error: check the humidity of your home/incubator location before just adding water. Following instructions the humidity shot up to 98% in my case so had to dump all water and wipe it out, humidity is now at 60%. Will update after hatch, fingers crossed! Seems like a great machine for the money, sturdy and working well so far.
