Product Description

Magicfly Eggs Poultry Hatcher

  • FAQ for the Magicfly egg incubator:

Q:Is this a forced-air or still-air incubator?

A: It’s forced air incubator. It has a little fan in it that circulates the air

  • FAQ for the Auto turner:

Q: How do I know if its turning my eggs?

A: You can test by marking the egg with a pencil and periodically checking to see if the marked side has moved. It's a slow process.

Q: Is it possible to turn off the automatic turner?

A: You can't turn off the automatic turner but you can position the tray so that the eggs don't get turned/rotated. But keep in mind eggs have to be turned until they are very close to hatching.

  • FAQ for the humidity:

Q: Does it show the humidity reading? And how to keep the humidity?

A: There is no humidity setting on this incubator. You could add your own hygrometer inside if needed, and manually adjust the humidity by adding or removing water from the incubator. It stays pretty consistent. You can have a look while passing through your home each day to check the temp and put some water if needed to keep the humidity around 55%. That will vary by location and weather.

  • FAQ for the temperature.

Q: How do I adjust the off set temperature?

A: The user booklet has information on how to access temp. Hold temp button till flashing capital letters then "+ " till you hit CA then you can step +/- to calibrate.

Q: The incubator is not holding a consistent temp. How to do that?

A: 1.The factory temperature setting is about 38 degree( Celsius ) (the 38 degree is suggestted for the chicken eggs, if any other kinds of eggs, you need to adjust by the suggested temp.)

2. For the "inaccurate" reading of the temp, After some time, the sensors of other thermometer might start to give false reading by a degree or two which can affect hatch rates if not caught. This isn't exclusively a Magicfly issue, it also happened to other incubator and other thermometer.

We suggest you could use more than one thermometer/humidity sensors to work with if needed.

3. Recommended setting for difference eggs Note: The temperature of house-used thermometer may vary from our egg incubator, when the ambient temperature is less than 25℃(77℉),it is better to take measures for heat preservation. It’s good for temperature uniformity when the device is enclosed with clothes or other warms, and it also helps energy-saving and reduces heat dissipation. And if the environment temp reach 37℃((98.6 F)The temp of our incubator might reache 41-43 ℃(105.8-109.4 F). It is best to use it in a cool location.

TIPS on improving hatching rate:

  • Maintain the quality of eggs: During storage and transportation, care must be taken to protect the eggs and avoid damage to ensure the quality of the eggs.
  • Create a suitable incubation environment: the incubator needs to maintain stable temperature and humidity, light, ventilation and other environmental conditions to increase the hatching rate.
  • Pay attention to the hatching operation: During the hatching process, pay attention to the correct way of placing the eggs, and regularly check the temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions of the incubator to ensure the smooth progress of the hatching process.
  • Make appropriate adjustments to different breeds of eggs: Different breeds of eggs have different hatching requirements, which need to be adjusted according to the actual situation to improve the hatching rate.

First time hatching chicks

First time hatching chicks
Our first time hatching, basically a 100% hatch rate. Will recount the experience with tips/details...I was given some eggs that I was told are likely fertile, so we wanted to hatch some chickens, partly as a homeschool thing. We learned we can not have chickens where we live, but a family member can take them, so we hatched anyways. The eggs were in our fridge about two weeks. I read the instructions and did my research before starting. I measure the recommended amount of water and put it in the bottom. I marked a doted line in a few spots around the base to know how much that was so I wouldn’t have to worry about measuring again. Everyday, I cracked the lid and put a cupcake cup amount of water in. (Used a silicone cupcake cup, which was easy to pour it in without taking the lid off.). The temp was maintained beautifully, though I took the devices word for it.We started with six eggs at 9am one day. I candled three times, and these were the only times I fully removed the lid. So at one week, two weeks, and at the time they got moved to the hatching tray. We pencil marked the air sac each time.At one week, I was sure one egg was not fertile. Another egg was thick and dark, and I was not sure. I gave it 2-3 more days, and then took that one out and tried again. I only had my iphone light to candle with. I felt I was not seeing anything, but I was wrong! Looking back, I should have left it and would have noticed the air sac growth! We were left with 4 eggs. The smallest one had pipped on day 20. We got up at 4:30am on day 21 (because of a lunar eclipse, but it was cloudy). We checked the chicks before going back to bed, and he had not made progress. I don’t know what came first, seeing progress start, or me tapping on the tray with my nail, but in 15 minutes it was out of the shell! I put the temp down a half degree about this time, as per instructions. A second pipped during that time, and he was out in a couple hours time. Nothing from the other two by bed time, and the first two stayed in the incubator overnight.6:30 am the next morning, we saw a pip in egg 3. In a couple hours or so time, the next two both finished hatching!!! At this time, I got my heat plate warming up and took the first two out. They were being obnoxious to the newborns. They were happy in their brooder, and the newborns slept most of the day in the incubator. I took them out before we went to bed and put them with the first two, even though they were not completely fluffed up yet. They are doing great! I am very thrilled, and look forward to hatching again.

4.0 out of 5 stars UPDATED: 9/18
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2017
Update: Started with 9 eggs and incubator was doing well regarding holding temp for two weeks, suddenly started fluctuating wildly between 90-104F. By day 21 (chicken eggs) I had 2 eggs, of which 1 hatched and is still alive and well. Returned for a new unit. New unit has been running great, I started with 8 eggs, which due to 1 being infertile and 1 dying at a week became 6 eggs. Of those 6, 5 have fully hatched and 1 is still working on it, so great results. Leaving at 4 stars due to first unit malfunction, but second batch exceeded expectations and I have some very cute and lively chicks. This incubator has no insulation so placement is very important to consider, drafts of any kind will mess with your temps, I'd recommend somewhere large, but enclosed, like a closet. Also, for chicken eggs, this unit comfortably holds 6 if you're using the turning tray, any more and you'll have to really play with it.

8/22: Received on time, well packaged, for me set up was easy, just followed the photos. Purchased an additional hydrometer/thermometer to make sure temperature and humidity hold. Will be receiving my eggs tomorrow and hope all 9 fit since some reviews suggest they may not and I can't afford time to hand turn with my schedule. It is set up now to monitor and make sure it's stable before adding eggs, however it heated up quickly and has held so far. Only issue, and this is more user error: check the humidity of your home/incubator location before just adding water. Following instructions the humidity shot up to 98% in my case so had to dump all water and wipe it out, humidity is now at 60%. Will update after hatch, fingers crossed! Seems like a great machine for the money, sturdy and working well so far.

This is my first ever hatch!! I researched for quite sometime before I decided on an incubator that was reasonably priced for the amount of eggs I wanted to hatch. I'm so very pleased that I made my final decision on this Magicfly Digital Mini Automatic Egg Incubator. I received my incubator and the black plastic square that holds the eggs in was broken (probably from the cold), I reached out to the seller and he took immediate action and offered me 2 options - get a refund or ship me a new part. Of course I chose the new part, it was shipped to me fairly quickly actually a lot quicker than what the incubator itself took to arrive. GREAT SERVICE, I highly recommend this seller if you are looking to buy a 9-12 egg incubator! I was so excited with the hatch that I ended up putting some more eggs in the incubator!! **************** BEST STAR RATING to this seller!!
