UPDATE: Used every day, sometimes 2X in one day since purchase 3months ago. We recently took it on a camping trip...Still great makes great/hot coffee, indestructible and no chip...(been dropped couple of times) I won't go back to glass ones ever. Prior to Francois et Mimi, we had 2 glass Bodum press (broken during washing), then ordered gorgeous stainless steel Bodum but returned immediately as it had plastic components on the plunger.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: We decided on stainless steel press to replace the broken Bodum glass one. Having our first cup now....mmmm. Would have wanted one little bigger with same shape but it's not to be. Turns out , this little 34 oz press is perfect for us. Make sure you take it apart and wash first (Lid, Plunger stem, lid handle, 3part base/presser. You may have to use brut force to unscrew the base from stem...or just ask your hubby The Heman. Use qtip thru the stem hole. I also thought, metal on metal during pressing but sound isn't too noticable once there's liquid inside. I don't put it thru the dishwasher...why??? just handwash quickly and rinse in hot water, ready for next use....And the Coffee taste great!!!
Here's what I like abount it:
1-It's all stainless steel plunger as well and seem to be indestructable even with my clumsy hands.
2-Unscrews apart for easy cleaning.
3-Wider at base not to easily tip over like some offered in Sea of Amazonian Jungle.
4-Brushed look as it lessens annoying finger prints.
5-Great size for 2 people: 2 large cups or 4 Frenchie types :)
6-Lastly, love the slim, minimalist design!
Only thing I am uncertain about is the Quality of stainless steel, I am assuming it's 18/10 ?
And Yes, it is made in China. Again, check back, if I notice any defective/rusting, I will post an Update.
