ORIGINAL REVIEW: We decided on stainless steel press to replace the broken Bodum glass one. Having our first cup now....mmmm. Would have wanted one little bigger with same shape but it's not to be. Turns out , this little 34 oz press is perfect for us. Make sure you take it apart and wash first (Lid, Plunger stem, lid handle, 3part base/presser. You may have to use brut force to unscrew the base from stem...or just ask your hubby The Heman. Use qtip thru the stem hole. I also thought, metal on metal during pressing but sound isn't too noticable once there's liquid inside. I don't put it thru the dishwasher...why??? just handwash quickly and rinse in hot water, ready for next use....And the Coffee taste great!!!
Here's what I like abount it:
1-It's all stainless steel plunger as well and seem to be indestructable even with my clumsy hands.
2-Unscrews apart for easy cleaning.
3-Wider at base not to easily tip over like some offered in Sea of Amazonian Jungle.
4-Brushed look as it lessens annoying finger prints.
5-Great size for 2 people: 2 large cups or 4 Frenchie types :)
6-Lastly, love the slim, minimalist design!
Only thing I am uncertain about is the Quality of stainless steel, I am assuming it's 18/10 ?
And Yes, it is made in China. Again, check back, if I notice any defective/rusting, I will post an Update.

PLUSES: Well-made, modern styling, brushed finish makes it look very expensive. It looks great sitting on the table, and won't tip over (weighted bottom.) Pot itself stays cool to the touch, and handle is easy to grip, even for large hands. Fingerprints and spots nearly disappear due to the brushed finish. Once you get your grind, water/bean ratio and water temperature right, prepare to have one beautiful cup of coffee.
Temperature/heat retention: I would say that this keeps coffee warm for maybe 2 hours (and lukewarm for quite a while longer.) If you like your coffee truly hot hot (just shy of tongue-burning-boiling,) well, it probably only holds that temp for 20-30 minutes.
People have asked me where I got it, and been surprised that it was relatively inexpensive for the quality and style. If you've had it with glass french presses and have a clean/simple/modern aesthetic, I think you'll be very pleased with this.
I do not use mine on the stovetop and I handwash it, using a softer (nylon) bottle brush and a little soap to clean the plunger/mesh/coils. After 15 months, the whole thing looks damn close to new. I have not experienced any metal aftertaste, and have ZERO coffee stains. I have never needed to use a product like Dip It (which I keep around for my occasional-use percolator.)
VERDICT: If I ever need to replace my french press or want a second one, I would definitely buy this one again. If I hear a friend needs a french press, I'd gift this one.
UPDATE: I have had this for almost 4 years now. Every part is just as good as when I purchased it. I love this press.
ORIGINAL: I’m very happy with this press. Purchased it about a month ago and am glad I spent the little extra I did for all stainless steel. The press is very easy to push down and cleans easily. Much better than having to replace broken glass after only a month of use.
Updated review: after using this daily for over a year, I am still very happy with the performance and have not experienced any problems with it.
UPDATE: It's been 2 years since purchasing this press and I am still as happy with it today. Great quality item.
