First off, let's debunk the distance issue. I suppose it depends on what your unit is. I have 2 FLIRC IR Receiver devices plugged into a Chromebox and a laptop. The buttons program perfectly to what I want and the distance is fantastic. Not only does it have great distance wherever I stand, it has an amazing IR range. Usually, you must point the remote at the receiver to initiate a transmission. This, however, I can put it behind me back, facing down toward the couch and still have perfect functionality. If I hide the remote completely or cover the front, it obviously doesn't work. Given that it out performs any other remote I've used of this type, I can't recommend it enough.

This works perfect for Kodi/XBMC use. I haven't tested this on a direct XBox receiver, but what I have is great. It's small enough to fit your whole hand, and it's rather light (not so that you feel like you'll break it though). All the nonsense buttons are gone. (Most new devices don't require number keys or dvd player switch)

I do have a few slight complaints that keep it from being amazing. 1) There is no backlight. The keys are painted bright enough to see in low light conditions, however. 2) The bright green light on the front has no option. It just blinks on press and that is it. I don't fully understand the function here, but it at least lets me know it's working. It could be smaller or brighten up the whole pad. It feels like it's just...there.

For the price (roughly 12 bucks), it's a steal. Get it, try it out, and enjoy!

We bought this remote to use with our Xbox One. My wife disdains using a controller for things like Netflix and Amazon Prime. We are pleased to report that this remote works great for this purpose. The range is great but the IR angle is a little shallow. However, that might be a lacking in the Xbox One's ability, not the remote. The buttons are a little squishy, I prefer a bit more positive "click" and on this remote there isn't much of a certain button press. All in all I give it 4 stars.

Cons: Light is a little annoying, shallow use angle(but maybe not its fault), buttons are a little "uncertain", remote is a little "unprofessional" looking, looks more like a toy than a remote

We cut the cord in our household recently, so it's Netflix and Prime video for us. We watch a lot of it using the Xbox and were quickly becoming annoyed at having to turn on the controller every time it asked us if we were still watching, or needed the pause the show. At first we contemplated getting a Kinect, so we could order it around, but the price on that didn't seem worth it, since we were unlikely to ever get any game that needed it. Originally we found the Microsoft branded remote, and that had some terrible reviews and was overpriced, but this one showed up and we have many off brand controllers and accessories from this brand over the years, so we figured we've give it a shot, for under $15 it seemed like a deal.

Straight out of the box, with fresh batteries in, we loved it. With no pairing or anything else we turned on the Xbox, navigated to Netflix and was watching a show with no issues. From the couch to the Xbox is about 8ft and it works instantly with no delay. The ONLY problem we've had is that if you pause it with the play/pause button, it doesn't want to play with it as well, so you need to instead press okay. We generally just use okay anyways, since it pauses and plays just fine. We've used it in Prime Video, Netflix, and just navigating the menu. It also works pretty well in YouTube, minus the play button, but that isn't even an issue and I still give this 5 stars.

Nice remote, great price. I bought this because I watch a lot of Blu-ray movies and Netflix on my Xbox One and using the game controller got cumbersome with it constantly powering down after being idle for a few minutes. I'd have to wait for it to power up and reconnect just to pause the movie. Navigation, menu, play/pause buttons work great compared to the controller; no waiting for the device to power up and connect.

All buttons but volume and channel work when the Kinect isn't plugged in to the Xbox One. (a limitation of the Xbox and not the remote) However, you do need a direct line-of-sight between the Xbox One and the remote. Runs on 2 AAA batteries (not included)

This remote is soooo much better than using the controller when watching streaming video like Netflix or Hulu. The controller has the auto-off feature, so to pause anything you had to turn on the remote, wait for it to wake up and connect, then hit the X button twice. Now, just point and press one button. Simple. The other navigation is very intuitive - I didn't have to read any directions to figure out how to work it, and there wasn't any complicated programming. Just put in the batteries (2 AAA, not included) and it is ready to go.

I did read the previous reviews and can confirm that you have to have the remote pointing directly at the Xbox, but it isn't that much of an inconvenience compared to the cumbersome controller, and from what I read the XBox brand remote is the same way but about $10 more expensive. I'm very happy with this purchase.
