Product Description
Stronger grade to last longer. Provides up to 4º +F frost protection for valuable, frost-sensitive perennials and sensitive vegetables.AgribonTM floating row covers have all the qualities of other brands, while being more affordable and with seams double-bonded for ultra-strength. These floating rowcovers increase yields, prolong seasons, reduce soil erosion, protect against frost, speed up germination, minimize wind damage, conserve soil moisture, deter birds and protect against extreme temperatures. High quality spun-bonded polypropylene cover is light enough (0.55 oz./sq.yd.) to be laid directly over plants without hoops or frames but strong enough to withstand light to moderate wind and other stress. No need to remove it during the season because it is porous to water and air and has 85% light transmittance. It provides up to 4°F of frost protection, warms the soil and is a good animal barrier. It also conserves water by reducing evaporation. It is similar to other rowcovers but generally longer lasting. UV stabilizers increase expected field life to 2 to 3 seasons.

Definitely worth it for extending growing season and protecting new plants from cold snaps in Spring. We had lettuce in a sheltered area near a south facing wall all winter in Albuquerque, New Mexico (high desert, Winter temps get down into the tens or even 0 occasionally though most of the season is fairly mild compared to the NE, and no snow) thanks to these row covers. Do have to decide how you're going to handle snow, as these will not support a snow load, particularly if you just use wire hoops as I did.
Now it's Spring we had temps drop to 30ºF this past weekend, I put these over the tomato plants the afternoon before the tomatoes covered with this row cover showed no ill effects, those without got visible (but not fatal) leaf and bud freeze burns. With care you should get a couple of seasons use out of the cover, I snagged one section a few times due to carelessness and it's torn, but that's not the product's fault, just a reminder to be careful laying it out and packing it up for storage.
Yes, it will tear a bit in a strong wind when I hold it down with bricks with sharp edges. No problem if I use boards, and put a brick on top of each board (if windy).
What works best for me is to staple one end to a 1x3 inch board, so I can roll it up to store over the winter. That also holds one end down, making it easier to spread out in a breeze.
