This reel is a work horse!

This is my second Lews Tournament MB. I have had the 5.6.1 for a couple of years now and only use it for crank baits. I ordered the 7.5.1 and it has been my most fished bait casting reel this year 2021. I have other bait casting reels, even the Lews Tournament Pro. However, I wound up using the Tournament MB 7.5.1 the most this season and it has performed excellent. The reels are easy to setup and cast great. They have plenty of drag power and retrieve smoothly. I just wish they had put numbers over the break knob, that would have been cool. I know it has been replaced by the MP and that one I do not have. Just wanted to say that the MB's have been great and Lews customer care has also been great to work with, whether I needed to order extra gear or just had a question. If the MP is truly an upgrade to the MB, then I think it will be a great reel as well. Happy fishing.

I already owned a Lew's Speed Spool LFS (the $99 one) and was so impressed I wanted to buy a second. Well, Amazon had the Tournament MB marked down to $106.65 at the time I purchased so I went for it. I'm very happy I did. The basic LFS is smooth, but the Tournament MB is even smoother. And it casts a mile. These are my first two baitcasters after being a lifelong spinning gear guy so I don't have much experience to draw on, but I will say these Lew's reels have to be the best reels in their price range.

I take excellent care of my gear, but if I ever wear one of these out, I won't hesitate to purchase another Lew's reel.

Amazing Reel For The Price- Casts a mile

This reel is amazing. Number one thing I would exemplify is how far you can cast. The combination between the centrifugal and magnetic brakes allows you to bomb baits soooooo far. Doesn't mater if you're using a small weightless plastic, you can still cast them with ease and almost no backlashes. When this reel does backlash which isn't very often it's usually able to be pulled out in two or three strips.
This reel is silky smooth and the big paddle handles are great for reeling. Drag is solid but can slip here and there. Only thing I don't like about it is that if you fish a jerkbait for more than two hours at a time the side plate of the reel can start to give you a blister on your palm. This has only happened to me once and is very rare for it to happen.
Over all it's a great reel and I would highly recommend it to anyone for the price.

Great Lightweight but Stable Reel

The reel fits my hand perfectly and balances very well with the rod that I am using. It is smooth and because of the metal body very stable when reeling in bass and/or walleye which are my fishing choices. I am using Kastking 25lb braid with a 12lb fluorocarbon leader. The high speed retrieve allows me to maintain tension on the line while landing a fish and maintain a hook set when fishing slow baits (rubber worms and creature baits.) Because of its light weight, I can cast repeatedly without become tired or getting a sore arm.

I fell for the trap and bought a Kastking Megajaws because the reviews were so good. (I found out later that KK give you free stuff for good reviews). It performed fine, but I find myself wanting more. I tuned up the Lews Tournament MB and took it out fishing today... holy cow. This is the smoothest bait caster I have ever used. I had a great time with this unit, it casts a friggin mile and I didn’t have to thumb it to prevent birds nest like the Megajaws. I am now a loyal Lews owner and I don’t think I can buy anything else. I’m really hoping this keeps up with the test of time, this is an extremely high quality reel. Well done Lews!
